Rai giggled. "Yes," she said, helping Soran get her into the saddle in front of him. She settled in and made herself comfortable, thinking that they had a long ride a head of them.
She took the horses mane in her hand and started braiding it as they road, huming a tune that was slightly out of key.
A bug landed on her hand and her song turned into a yelp. Her elbows came back and hit Soran between the legs. She didn't know what she had hit, so she went back to braiding the hairs together and huming the same tune over and over.

Soran watched Mizuki discreetly as they passed out of sight of the village, riding at a comfortable pace along the wooded trail. It was very peaceful, with only the sounds fo the forest, the horses' hooves and Rai's pleasant, though off-pitch singing. He was trying to discern Mizuki's reaction to leaving her mother and friend, suspecting that it might be difficult for her, but his thoughts were interrupted by a sharp and entirely unexpected pain between his legs. He breathed in sharply and bit off a groan, clasping his free hand onto his thigh to keep it from clutching his besieged crotch. As soon as his composure returned, he addressed Rai in a strained voice. "Watch where you're throwing your arms," he ordered in embarrassment, fighting back nausea.

Mizuki was daydreaming when her ears picked up Rai and Soran's little conversation. She turned to look at them, querking her brows as if to ask 'what the hell--?'
Blade was fast asleep against her back. His face resting between her shoulder blades and she could feel him idly sucking his thumb.
"Er-- Boys are just senitive down there. A lot more than girls." Mizuki said, to offer some help to the rouge. 'Oh boy... next will be talking about where babies come from.' Mizuki thought, slightly turning red.

Mizuki's voice faultered. "Sweetie...I--Er.." she didn't know how to answer her without saying: 'Boys have penis' that are sensitive when hit hard, and girl's don't have those.' So she answered her 'why?' with the always known:
"You'll understand when you're older sweet heart." And Mizuki left it at that.

Mizuki sighed but she smiled. She hated telling a child that but it was so hard to explain adult things to them. She glanced at Soran to see if he was still in pain but he looked fine now. She knew how much that hurt men, she hit her own father there when she was Rai's age, then thought it was the most funniest thing she had ever seen and went around hitting all the village boys in that area.
She noticed that the sun was sinking, slowly, but it was. They probably wouldn't get to Hepian for maybe a week unless they went faster, then they could make it in about 2 days. But with a baby riding along on her back she couldn't risk a gallop or a canter or even a smooth trot!
"Should we camp in the trees when night falls?" Mizuki asked Soran.

"That's probably the best plan," agreed Soran, glad to change the subject away from his groin. "If we don't encounter any problems, we should only need to camp out once." Soran had spent so long living in the forest that sleeping outside was very normal to him, but it also had its dangers.
They rode on, the first half of the day passing without incident. They stopped to have lunch, then rode on again. Soran felt content crossing through the forest with them, with Mizuki riding alongside him and Rai resting back against his stomach. The afternoon was surprisingly peaceful as well, and at length when it began to get dark they stopped for dinner in between a cluster of small trees where thin grass lined the ground. Soran dismounted and lifted Rai down. He removed his horse's bridle and began surveying the campsite.
"Level terrain, dry ground, and I hear water nearby... this place should be safe," he explained to the others, not used to describing his decision process for such things.

Mizuki dismount, made sure Blade was still secure on her back. Then she unsaddled her horse and rubbed him down. When her horse was cared for she Took Blade out of his sling and on the ground. The first thing he did was stretched his useless baby wings and walk around cooing.
Mizuki got out the tent supplies and perparred to to build one. But Blade had other idea's and wrapped himself up in the tarp.
"Blade! No!" Mizuki scolded him and tried to untangle him from the tent.
