LORE: A break in routine

The Capital of Ighten. Thought to be the richest and most pure city in the world. Sadly, there are things in Ighten that are not rich and pure... Corruption has taken a very strong hold here as war brews...

LORE: A break in routine

Post by Vairah »

Gwennan hadn't been to Lowight before. He'd never had any real intention of seeing it, either. Business was good enough in the Ashgrown-Hepian area provided he didn't do anything too stupid. Which was exactly the problem. He'd just been very stupid, and precisely because business was so good, with the end result that now it wasn't really... it boggled the mind. He'd finally invested in his own coach and a team of horses, but Kilvas tended to spook draft animals and maybe he hadn't quite tethered them properly one night a few weeks back. In his defense, it was usually pretty difficult to do so when one was drunk. Maybe he shouldn't have been drinking in the first place, but with a peevish raven repeatedly running the horses off the road, he'd just kept losing time, and no freight kept forever. Granted, alcohol probably kept considerably longer than he'd given it credit for...

That wasn't the point. The point was that he was now looking on the marble capital of Ighten, where even the peasants were supposed to be richer than him. Everything he'd salvaged from the coach was in a bag on his back. Kilvas was perched on his shoulder with all the docility of a deep self-satisfaction. Anyway, he could have hoped for better circumstances, but in better circumstances he wouldn't have been here at all. Might as well make the most of the experience, right? He took a deep breath, rolled his head on his shoulders, and began his final approach on the great walls.

((Aaand this thread ends because I forgot what I'd been planning to do with it and I want Gwennan elsewhere. Assume he does some business and leaves.))
