Lore: Threads of Fate

The only known village for the Ishtassy people. These people are very skilled in fighting in the dark art style. They have grown up feeling hatred and loathing for any one but their own kind and only follow the Witch Queen because she is the only one they truly fear.

There are three kinds of people you do not want to mess around with. One are the people who are drunk in a tavern. Two are the people who are armed with weapons. Three, the people who dislike anyone else but their own kind... I was one of those unlucky people who happened to be with the worst lot. Hey, I'm Paul, just a wanderer. A damn dog of a mercenary I have become. I was in one of those special ordeurs to locate this man, Kein Marguss. Apparently, this man owed a friend of his some... money. I never knew I'd have to find him here. "I knew I should never have taken that dirt," Paul mumbled, tugging on his hood, making sure no one could see him. Being an ex-Ighten soldier into an all hating Tavern was a bad thing. "You go 'en to uhrger somfing?" The bartender asked in a heavy accent. "No, just waiting around." I replied. The bartender grunted and went over and drank something off a flask.
If I do not hound this guy soon, I'm doggin' this one. Paul thought, feeling uneasy at the next table, a table with gambling drunkards. "Pathetic..." Paul mumbled.

Sera nodded to the barmaid as she set the drink down in front of her. Oh, this was much needed. She thought to herself as she took a lingering sip of the frothy drink. She leaned back as she felt the liquid moisten her parched throat and scanned the room.

It would be dimly lit for an ordinary mortal, but she could clearly see every crevice of every corner. Full of some of the palest creatures she had ever seen, yet the best fighters; some were drunk off their caps and others decided to play a simple round of darts. She hid herself in a darkened corner in an extra tactical move not to provoke these magnificent warriors into rage. She, more than often, went out of her way to avoid this village due to the hatred the inhabitants had for any not their kind. The only thing that kept her alive when forced pass through, she guessed, was her humbleness and the ability to hold her own.

Her eyes shifted towards the bartender as he spoke and a tall, cloaked figure caught her eye.

He seems nervous, she smirked as she watched him tug his hood down another inch. I wonder what a little lamb like him would be doing in a place like this. Leaning forward onto her elbows, she retreated partly from the shadows and settled an icy gaze upon the man.

I shivered. I found this odd, I rarely got any chills, but then again, I could be a little sensitive to the cold. I have had enough of this place. It smelt like rotten beasts and it was as picture perfect as a disemboweled creature. I stoof ou without any further ado and headed for the double doors. Bad move. As soon as I stood up, I was immediately ricotched off a huge belly. "Great," I mumbled, catching my hood before it fell off and covered my face again. I excused myself and tried to get away as soon as possible.
I was barely two steps ahead until a hand grasped my shoulder. It wasn't a smal hand... I turned around and looked up. What was there to say? Bearded man, teeth that should rather be off with the dead and nasty bits of food off hanging on his beard. One more thing... He was considerably tall... Way tall.
"Lis 'en up short 'ee. You ain't goooin noowhere." THe genius said.
He's a drunk... I thought, "Let go of me..." I calmly said, mentally slapping myself. He's a drunk! He won't let you get away! My conscience screamed at me. He didn't... Instead... "Uhr else whut?"
I grasped him on his wrist, if that was a wrist... A size of a hip. And twisted it to his back and kicked him. Was very surprised how I did that. But it drew that sorry bum flying to one of the corners. He smased into a couple of tables and then into a wall. "Woah..." Obviously lost control of his strength again. "Gotta go..." Paul tried to run for the door but was blocked by two similar people... They stink, they need to get cleaned and they need to cut down on food. "Not so fast!"
Oh boy. I thought. Before I knew it, I was grappled and dragged like a rag doll across the room. Riip. Not a good sound.
At that, my cloak ripped into half.

Idiot, she sighed as she watched the young man run head on into trouble. Some people just don't know how to properly keep their head down.

Sera stood slowly, keeping a watchful eye on the exchange. She couldn't help but grimace as he was dragged across the room. He was dragged across the floor over to the group of dart throwers in the far corner. Sera's eyes shifted over to the dart players. She shook her head sadly. Kein Marguss was one among them; the kid was surely dead.

Her eyes shifted back as the sound of ripping filled her ears. The kid's cloak had caught on a raised nail, ripping the fabric clean through. What was underneath did not bode well for him. An Ighten soldier. Interesting, indeed.

Leaning back against the wall, she settled in to watch what would surely be an interesting display.

The man shoved Paul into the bigger mans' feet. They stunk. A dart dropped inches from Paul's face. He rolled his eyes. Before he knew it, he was lifted up into the air face to face with Mr. Ugly.
"Who uhr yoo?" He asked, he scanned Pauls face, well, the one that wasn't being covered by the hanging cloth of what used to be his hood. "I know yoo!" He threw Paul against the wall. No more secrets. Paul thought. "Alright, Im done with this damn charade." Paul unsheathed a stilletto and stabbed him right into his torso. "Kein Marguss, that's one off my list... Shouldn't have taken another life in the first place." Paul said with a frown. Kein collapsed to the floor in a heap.
Paul looked up and expected an open space, fear, confused looks... Instead, he was greeted with anything the Ishatassians could get a hold of. One of them would be a round table. It was flying... It was flying fast.
Paul ducked, "Burn!" Paul lifted his hand, a ball of flame countered the table with enough force to send it flying back to its rightful owners.
"Git heem!" A rough voice called out. Everyone started rushing to him. Damn, Paul thought. Plan B.
"Stop! I'm a bomb and I will get everyone of you roasted like the nuts you are!" On queue a bucket of water was thrown at him, complete with the bucket.

The kid had guts, she had to admit, but those guts just probably ruined her chance of getting out of the village alive. Ichtass were bad enough spiteful, but drunk and, not to mention, pissed, they would most likely now kill every person not of their own within the village. And now I have to do something.

Pushing off the wall, she spread her hands wide. Reluctantly she pulled upon the Curse Mark defiling the back of her neck. Her already icy blue eyes shifted to near white as the room temperature dropped considerably. With a twist of the mouth, she had the bright idea to push it a little lower and make it snow within the tavern, but shooed the idea away.

Reaching down, she fished a few throwing stars from the pouch around her leg and deposited one in the wooden wall beside the kid's head. "Move." she hissed, before drawing the attention of the Ichtass briefly to herself. Why, by the gods, she was doing this, she couldn't fathom.

Paul fended off a whle bunch of people. Using more and more of his powers than he expected. There were chairs, more tables, daggers and short swords and occasionaly a man bearing a huge axe. Everyone had a weapon. Then the temperature suddenly dropped. These buffoons probably haven't noticed but the sensitivity to the cold kicked in extra. It's just my imagination. Right now, it wasn't that cold to start to panic. Paul backed against a wall until he noticed a star shaped item that sunk into the wall beside. "Move!" a fierce voice called out of nowhere. Paul jumped on a table and gave everyone a nice kick in the head with a nice swipe of the foot.

Coating her stars with a thin layer of ice, she sent them flying towards the base of the necks of two Ichtass warriors. She would have reached for more stars, but the two had brought all attention to her. Not exactly the reaction she was hoping for...

Sera took small, slow, steps backwards towards the tavern doors. Ichtass eyes watched her almost hungrily as she cautiously drew her swords from about her waist. Setting their hilts firmly within her grip, she looked over towards the kid-- who was still on the table. "Door." she mumbled as she drew level with him and jerked her head towards the beckoning exit.

Paul nodded, he jumped over a sword that tried to cut him clean off his feet and leapt across the room to join the stranger. "Stay put," Paul said. He reached for the ground. The tavern shook, pillars of solid rock broke through the wooden panels of the tavern. Nasty splinters were flying as more pillars surrounded the angry mob that served as a cage.
Paul took one look at them trying to break through the pillars. "It won't hold that long... Better start running."

"Just get past the doors." Sera turned, reaching for the doors of the exit and pulling them open. Behind her she heard the Ichtass efforts against the raised stone double in a need to get to them before they escaped. She knew they wouldn't make it out of the village without some serious blood and gore, but she could slow them down. Besides, she wanted a moment to smack the kid upside the head.

Reaching out for the kid's arm, she yanked him past the doors and out into the night air. Swiftly stepping out after him and closing shut the doors behind her, she turned making sure they were secure. Sera clenched her fist for a moment before shaking it out and placing it flat against the grained wood. Solid veins of ice webbed out from her hand, pooling at all corners of the doorway and moving inward to join underneath her palm.

She smirked. When the Ichtass broke free of the stone they would yank the doors open only to encounter a wall of ice. It wouldn't hold them longer than the stone, but it would last long enough.

Spinning around, she pointed down an alley between houses. "That way."

Barely any time to savor the art of magic, the woman yanked him out. "THat way!" She pointed to the alley. Paul ran into the darkness. Paul heard a loud and unmistakeable sound of a wall of ice shattering. The one the mysterious woman had created. Paul stopped midway into the alley. "Who are you?" Paul asked her. In the dark he couldn't make out that much, but he knew that she seemed like a rouge. Icy blue eyes, standing 5"8 tall, a fierce apparel.

Her eyes narrowed on him as he asked the question-- and only halfway down the alley. Her hand snaked out with killer precision and smacked him roughly on the back of the head. "Walk." she grumbled, pushing him ahead. She cursed when he repeated the question a further ways down. "Your worst nightmare."

Twisting on her feet, she walked backwards a few yards to watch the darkness behind her. This was the only village that ever seriously set her nerves on edge.

And this buffoon had to get the whole village after you.

A dark anger that was not entirely hers flared to life in her chest and death took a front row seat within her cold eyes. Turning back around, she pushed him roughly around a corner and down another alley. "And just who do you think you are, kid? Coming in, poorly disguised, and openly killing one of the most ruthless warriors in the village. You may have just cost me my life; I require compensation." Gracefully she leveled one of her swords and the cold bite of her steel at his throat stopped the man short.

"Agh"
The older woman smacked him in the head. Just as Paul was going to reply a sword was held to his throat. "And just who do you think you are, kid? Coming in, poorly disguised, and openly killing one of the most ruthless warriors in the village. You may have just cost me my life; I require compensation."
"Compensation?" Paul scoffed, he was in an uptight position, "No one asked you're asking me... to compensate?" Paul rolled his eyes. "I have nothing. You were the one who went without a guise and what's more? You were the one who joined me anyway!" Paul replied hastily. Obviously feeling uncomfortable. "I had everything under control." Paul smirked, slowly trying to push her arm away. No, not her arm... the blade.

She scoffed at his statement. Control--oh yes, he certainly had everything under control. The sounds of the Ichtass moving up the streets momentarily caused her to forget about why she held him at sword point. Danger was still impossibly near, after all. Tapping the back of his neck lightly with the tip of her sword, she muttered: "Keep walking."

"I have no need of guise, Ighten," she said after a moment, sheathing one sword back about her waist. Quickly, she picked two more stars out of her pouch and settled them between two fingers of her left hand. "You wouldn't stand a moments breath walking into Arken such as you are without any type of help. The Ichtass hate everyone. You set their blood lust aflare; they would have run me through with not so much as a plank of wood after they were through with you. I accompany you out of little choice."

Paul rolled his eyes and kept walking. He ignored most of what she had just said. All he heard was something about some plank of wood, blood thirsty. He couldn't really tell. "What are you trying to say?"
Pal kept on walking. The alley kept getting narrower and narrower. For a small town the alley was quite small... And quite long. "I suppose you wouldn't know where we're going would you?"
