LORE: The Reluctant Damsel and the Dysfunctional Hero

The city closest to the border. It is a city filled with traveling people and inns that hold many of the roughest people in Ighten. It's a good place to find weapons and an even better place to find trouble.

LORE: The Reluctant Damsel and the Dysfunctional Hero

Post by Emora Deen »

Tenele wondered around Hepian, looking for the hooded person she had seen kill Chirona. She had asked the Shogun if they could stay a while longer in Hepian to hunt for her murder, but now Tenele was thinking that it must have been someone far from them now.

The young silver haired half-elf woman sat down on a bench in the city square beside the water fountain. She should have known that the murderer would move on… but, she thought that she might find them anyway. She didn’t know why she felt she needed to stay around…

Tenele brushed back her hair and re-braided it, since more than one long stand had come lose from the braid she had put up this morning. She sighed, thinking about Vlad for a moment, but she willed her thoughts away. It was foolish to think that a vampire who felt nothing would feel anything for her, but she couldn’t help the fact she had such strong feelings for him. For all she knew it could very well be lust, though, that was a very funny thought.

Vladimir walked down the bustling street, ignoring the humans that were rushing about their business around him. He had little interest in their company. In fact, it was safe to say that humans were at the bottom of his popularity list at the moment. He was approaching the central square of the city when he finally noticed something worthy of attracting his attention: slender fingers working in a familiar silver blade on bench next to the fountain. Her back was to him, but his curiosity was piqued. A devilish smirk crossed his face and he disappeared, materializing again atop the sculpture in the fountain. He crouched with one elbow across his knees and one hand on his chin, and studied her from above, indifferent to the shocked glances of a few townspeople who had noticed him sitting atop the statue. One little boy who had been playing with a funnel-shaped noisemaker had dropped the toy to stare in astonishment. Vlad looked over at him and waved with a cryptic grin, and the child waved back nervously. Then, Vlad stretched out his fingers, and the toy flew away from the boy and landed in the vampire's hand. Turning his attention from the indignant child, he took the toy, leaned forward, and planted it strategically into the spout of the fountain. The stream of water, previously spouting in a peaceful arc into the pool, suddenly sprayed out violently at the back of Tenele's head. Smiling, the vampire promptly disappeared.

Tenele gasped as cold water fell on her head and down her back. She jumped up from her spot on the bench and flew around to find the source. She narrowed her eyes on the fountain that didn't seem to enjoy her presence. Her braid that wasn't finished fell loose and she would have to start over.

"Obviously it's not my week," she muttered.

The water dripping down her back reminded her of Vlad and the floating pitcher of water in the middle of night. She smirked slightly, because the trick with the fountain would be something he would do, unfortunately Vlad wasn't anywhere around to make her life more interesting.

She sighed, guessing she had wasted enough time and walked down a lonely road through the city.

When Tenele had come part way down the street, a presence appeared next to her, apparently from nowhere. As if they had last spoken only that morning, Vlad casually leaned forward and smirked at her criticially. "Well, who'd have thought that the moment I'm out of the picture for a while, you'd start walking around with your hair a mess and that pity-party expression on your face," he said boldly. "You're lucky I happen to be carrying this," he added, and a soft towel fell over her head, covering her vision.

Tenele was a bit surprised, well actually startled. She sort of jumped away from the vampire as he appeared out of no where, but didn't miss the towel or what he had to say.

Tenele was a bit to surprised she guessed because she just took the towel off head and began to dry her hair off. "Thanks," she said... then her head came up as the voice registered, and the smirk registered.... "Hey!" she said loudly, her hand coming out and hitting his shoulder quite hard.

"Wait... what are you doing here?" she asked, narrowing her eyes, but pulling the towel around her to dry her back off. Her bright green eyes looked at him with an odd expression that was a mix of surprise and happiness.

"Stealing towels for strange mortal women who dare to punch me in the shoulder, obviously," Vlad replied with a mischievous grin.

"Sure," she said to him, arching and elegant eyebrow. "So, whats the real reason you here for?"

She pulled the towel tight around her and held it there.

Vlad's face straightened just slightly. "I came here to warn you...about him," he said, pointing down the street at a severely flustered and rather overweight shopkeeper who was bounding toward them.

"Stop! Thief! My towel!" he howled, bounding toward them.

Vladimir cast Tenele a sparkling grin.

Tenele narrowed her eyes on the fat man and then Vlad. "You bastard," she muttered, though there was a hint of a smirk on her lips.

"I didn't steal your towel!" Tenele protested. "He did! He poored water on me and then to make up for it he stole a towel for me to dry off with!"

Tenele was obviously trying to get him into trouble, but it was only because she knew he had the strength and ability to get himself out.

"Who?" growled the man impatiently as Tenele blamed the situation on an empty space. Vlad had disappeared again. Of its own accord, the towel she held raised up and waved at him tauntingly. Furious now, he ran toward her.

"Wait!" she yelled and looked around growling. "Vlad come back here!" she yelled to then air.

"I really didn't still this!" she told the man, holding it out for him. "But, here... you can have it back now..."

The man stormed up to her and leaned in her personal space menacingly. "You know what we do with shoplifters in this town?" he threatened, pressing in close to her face. As he went to take the towel, the end of it rose up and slapped him briskly across the face. He looked at it strangely, and it slapped him across the other cheek, then upside the chin, then poked in his ear. He stumbled backwards as the towel floated up and attacked him, spooking at each cottony blow until he let out a terrified shriek and threw his hands over his face. "You can keep the towel!" he screamed as he retreated back in the direction he'd come from, first at a walk, then breaking into a run. Vladimir reappeared with crossed arms and a dark grin as he watched the shopkeeper run off, the towel falling limp again and landing in his palm.

Tenele couldn't help but laugh at the man when she realized what was going on and when she saw him run away frightened of a haunted towel. "I really thought you were going to leave me for him," she told Vladimir innocently, her green eyes flashing in his direction.

"But, you can't seem to stay away. Do you find me that pleasent to be around, Dracul?" she asked, with a sly grin that she seemed to be growing fond of after being around Vladimir more and more.

Vlad appeared to ponder the question for a moment. "Perhaps not unpleasant," he responded charmingly, offering his arm as they continued in the direction she'd originally been walking. "So, where are we going," he asked casually.

"I don't really know..." Tenele said and looked around. "I was going to head back to the inn... since Ihaven't exactly found what I was looking for..."

She looked at him for a moment. "Did Sinead send you here?"
