Lore: Cure for a Broken Heart
Lore: Cure for a Broken Heart
Jayden sat quietly string ahead. Layla was next to her counting there earnings for the day which usually wasn't much at all.
If only I had fought more... she thought rememebring when her parents were murdered and...I should have...no...
Jayden looked at Layla. She hardly remembered what had happened. The street was mostly empty and the night sky was there only light in the ally in which they lived.
"Jayden, when will we have a house?" Layla asked innocently.
Jayden didn't want to answer that. She had no idea and was very doubtful that they ever would.

Yuuna walked down the street, stopping about 10 feet away from a voice talking in the darkness. She leaned against something, unstable, and fell over yelping as she hit the ground. She was embarrassed to say the least. Yuuna picked herself up slowly, brushing off bits of straw and dust.
She called soflty into the darkness:
"Hello, is anyone out here?"

"Hello, is anyone out there?"
Jayden looked up at the sound that semed to be coming from nowhere.
"Who's there?" Layla replied with fear in her voice. Hepian was known for bandits, so she had every reason to be scared, but then she felt silly. Jayden loved her and would always protect her. Jayden looked around and saw no one. It was too dark to see anything.

"umm, I am, My name is Yuuna." I proceeded in the direction of the voice I heard in the dark. "I do not wish to hurt you, I just..umm wanted to know who you were. I was supposed to meet someone. " Yuuna spoke as if the person was right in front of her, loudly though. Yuuna then tripped over a few things in the street and hit the ground again. This time she spilled her arrows which made loud clacks as they hit the ground. "Ow" Yuuna said rather dazed, there was no light, so she was unusually clumbsy.
Layla quickly got up to help Yuuna up.
"Are you okay?" she asked ignoring her arrows which were spilled all over the street and tripped over them. Jayden laughed and walked cautiously over to them.
"This is Layla and I'm Jayden. We're sisters."
She was still smiling and Layla knew that Jayden would make fun of her for the next few days for falling. She hated when she made fun of her.
"So," Jayden continued, "Who ya lookin' for?"

"Originally I was looking for a friend, but he seems to have left the city." Yuuna said getting up. Yuuna gathered the arrows she had spilt blushing at her clumbsyness. She noted one of the arrows were broken, she put it in the quiver anyway. "He was supposed to meet me at dawn, he asked me to join him in a search. I met a few guards where I was supposed to meet him; the gaurds were looking for him, he stole a necklace, a few swords, and food."
Yuuna looked a little troubled for a minuet at the thought that she could have helped a criminal in his crimes. "When I heard the guards were looking for him, I immediatly started looking for a place to sleep and a meal. I get lost easily, so, will you help me out?"

"That could be a problem." Jayden told her. "We're homeless. Our parents were killed long ago and..." She swallowed and fought back tears. "And here we are."
Layla wanted badly to get in the conversation. "But that was a long time ago and we're okay now. And we get along fine because Jayden is the best street performer in Hepian."
Jayden smiled at her sister. She was always bragging on her.

"Oh" Yuuna looked down, "I didn't know. Oh, I'm Yuuna, I'm a priestess. I ust need directions to the nearest inn, I have enough money for lodging for the next two weeks or so. If you want, I'll rent a room for you, I have a friend in a cottage that I want to go see about a better bow. I think I'll leave in the morning for that." Yuuna realized she was babbling, "Well, what do you think? Want a place for the night?"
"Ok, I thought I saw an inn around here, help me look?" Yuuna asked the sisters. She took off down the street. Yuuna took a vial out of her pocket and opened it. When the gasses from it hit the air, it glowed brightly. Yuuna looked carefully at the doorways and for signs. 'Black smith, house, house, mmm. There has to be one around here somewhere!' Yuuna thought.
Layla stood on her tip-toes to reach Jayden's ear. "Can I show her where one is?"
"If you KNOW where one is." Jayden didn't know. She never wandered around Hepian unlike Layla, who was going to eventually get into trouble.
"This way!" she said glad that she could help. It seemed that she could never do anything just because she was 13. It wasn't fair. She could do things, too! Layla led them to a small inn down the street.

Yuuna saw Layla run past her, she followed Layla and put away the vial. She saw the inn that Layla had lead them to. At first the inn seemed like a charming place. but after further inspection the inn was a little run down and the paint on the sign was flaking off. It now read, "The lake Inn." Instead of, "The Blake's Inn" Yuuna walked inside, the door creaked as she walked in. A man was snoring in the corner by a dying fire, The Innkeeper.
"Excuse me." Yuuna said, he snoring continued. "Excuse me!" Yuuna said louder. The snoring man woke up and almost fell off the chair.
He said in a gruff voice, "What? What do you want?"
"Two rooms please. What is the cost?" Yuuna replied back.
"hmm," He said gruffly, "We have two rooms, but the cost is a few copper, to one silver but since it's so late and your so pretty, " He winked at Yuuna, "I'll give you a room for free, but your going to have to pay for a meal."
"Thank-you, that's fine." Yuuna said to him and handed him two silvers.
"Wow, your nice!" The innkeeper said, "This way." He lead them upstairs.

"Oh, wow! We get a free room!" Layla said as calm as she good and trying to hide her excitement.
Jayden continued to walk in silence, studying every person she walked by. Her parents' death made her very cautious. And the innkeeper made her uncomfortable when he called Yuuna pretty. Memories from years ago flooded back in her mind and she shuddered. When they arrived at there rooms, Layla ran inside and bounced on one of the beds. Jayden shook her head at her and smiled.
"Thank you, Yuuna. We owe you one. Even if it WAS free." she said.

Yuuna looked at Jayden. "Nonsence, I was happy to do it. Get some rest, you look tired. If you wish you can come with me tomorrow morning. Innkeeper, where is my room?"
The Innkeeper pointed to the room across the hall. "Thank you" Yuuna replied. The Innkeeper left the hall to go sleep by the fire once more.
"You do not have to reply tonight, I will ask you in the morning." Yuuna walked to her room, opened the door, walked inside, closed the door and locked it. Yuuna was asleep when her head hit the pillow. 'Many errands tomorrow' she reminded herself and drifted off to sleep.

Jayden looked over to where Layla was still bouncing on the bed. She was so happy, and Yuuna had just offered for them to come with her.
"Jayden! Can we go with Yuuna?"
"I don't know yet."
"Oh, please! She's really nice. And I've been wanting to travel and get some adventure in my boring life."
"Boring?"
"Yeah. Life's been boring and pointless since mom and dad died."
"I know."
"So, can we go?"
"Maybe. I'll think about it."
Layla knew what that meant. Most likely not. She slammed her head down on the pillow and went right to sleep. Jayden stayed up a while. Thinking about if she should go with Yuuna. She did owe her for her kindness. How bad could it be? Why not? Layla would be happy, and that's all that mattered. She finally went to sleep and felt good to be in a bed for the first time in years.

The next morning, Jayden got up early to take a bath and get ready for breakfast. She woke Layla up afterwards to tell her get her bath. Then, she walked to Yuuna's room to see if she was awake.
She knocked on the door as quiet as possible and said, "Hello? Yuuna?"
