Name: Hijikata Soujirou (Last name first)
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Race: Human
Job Class: Commander of the Kenkakugumi
Appearance: Soujirou is 5' 11" tall and has a skinny but densely muscled build. His black hair is tied backwards in a middle level ponytail and falls down to his upper back. He also has some hair parted at the middle of his face that fall to either side of his head with some stray hair falling towards his face that he usually blows to the side. He has piercing gray eyes that tend to strike fear into the souls of those he is irritated at. He normally has a relaxed look on his face, but when he has to make some sort of a decision, especially regarding the group, he has a cold face on. He wears a black hakama and white kendo gi. He also wears a pair of tatami sandals that wrap around his foot and to his ankle so it is easier to run in them. He also wears a haori (kimono jacket) over his kendo gi that is all black except for the white circle on the back where the Kenkakugumi crossed katana crest is. On his hands he wears a pair of brown fingerless gloves. On his left hip is his katana and a kodachi, which are respectively named Seigikyouran and Nanashi. Under his gi there is a scar that runs across his chest from the left armpit down to the top part of his right rib cage.
Attacks:
Kaze Ouda - Soujirou can draw his katana at a high enough speed that it creates a vacuum blade in the air that can slice apart unarmored opponents. It only works when he does it as a battou jutsu and he cannot gather the speed to do it with a normal slash.
Tanseido Sashikizu - To make up for the lack of effectiveness of his Kaze Ouda against armored opponents, Soujirou created the Tanseido Sashikizu. A normal stab is a rather weak move and is difficult to block, however, he has gathered the power to stab with enough force to pierce through even knight armor.
Weakness: Soujirou has many of the weaknesses of any pure melee fighter. It is difficult for him to fight against opponents who use long ranged weapons or magic. He is also very well known by people, and his two special attacks are decently well known as well, so it is not that hard for an opponent to study up on him before they attack him. It also makes it very difficult for him to blend in to crowds since he is feared as the leader of the Kenkakugumi. There tends to be an area around him as people recognize him and clear out of the way for him.
Biography: Soujirou went to the same school of Nittou Ryu that Yamato Kyosuke did. Soujirou had started much earlier and upon the arrival of the younger man, he realized that Kyosuke had much potential and the two became rivals. Though Kyosuke never really acknowledged it, he was known as a genius when it came to swords. That fact roused a bit of jealousy in Soujirou for the longest time, until he finally matured out of it and just acknowledged the younger man's strength. His own growth was not a slow one either, and they both surpassed their senpai in the dojo after a few years of training. The two actually started learning how to use their second sword before many of their senpai, who had been there for a few years longer than either of them had, did. It came to a surprise when the smaller Kyosuke chose another katana as his second weapon and the bigger Soujirou chose a shorter kodachi as his. Soon after they obtained their second swords, they were both given a certificate of mastery to the Nittou Ryu. Before the two parted, they had one match together to figure out who was stronger. Kyosuke won, which is where the scar that Soujirou has across his chest came from. After he recovered, he journeyed around, seeking to become stronger. However, he was saddened by the current state of the samurai. Many of them did not seek strength any longer, but instead contented themselves with working under their corrupt daimyo. Many of them turned down fights with him citing that they had no reason to duel with him, but Soujirou knew that they were cowards. He decided to approach the Shogun about it. He brought up the idea of creating a group of samurai and swordsmen/women that sought out strength and that would defend the innocent. The Shogun approved of the idea and granted him an unused area with a decently prosperous town around it to use as their headquarters. At that point, with a lack of creativity, he named the new group the Kenkakugumi, which translates to be the Swordsman Group.
Extra: Soujirou's only defeat is the one given to him by Kyosuke. However, he is not angry at the smaller man and instead respects him. Though there are 100 spots in the Kenkakugumi, there will always be only 99 members because he is searching for Kyosuke to appoint him a member, and would most likely appoint him as a vice-commander. Soujirou has a decently relaxed and slightly serious attitude, but will laugh and crack smiles. However, he is known as the Demon of the Kenkakugumi for his decisions regarding the members. Some of the people in the group that have severely disobeyed the laws or abused their powers have been ordered to commit seppuku by him, even if they were close to him. Depending on the severity of the situation and past performance, he may give second chances.
