Nickole:
"Ah, the joys of being small..." Nickole mused to herself as she silently flew through castle walls and past royal guards. It had been too long ago since she had last been here, and there was really no good excuse. Sinead and Nickole were as close as sisters, considering their inter-racial friendship.
"Where is she?" Finally, she recognized the door of Sinead's bedroom, and slipped through the keyhole. Sinead lay beside her husband, both sleeping deeply. After considering it, Nickole decided that her small emission of blue light wouldn't bother them if she walked across the floor. Crossin the room to Sinead's desk, Nickole lighted upon the flat, cool surface of the desk. She rested among the papers sitting upright b/t two bookends shaped like stone fairies sitting on rocks. She relaxed and waited patiently for the rising of the sun.
Zenmusha:
Vlad had escorted Tenele home... But had been more thoughtful than usual. He'd made her fall for him... Now what? As much as he detested to admit it, he was a lousy partner. He lacked maturity, even if he was more thoughtful than every creature he ever came across; he was adulterous; he was... Bothering himself with tomorrow!!! Clearly, something was wrong with him!
So, he did what he was good at doing... Taunt his Mistress!! His grin returned all of a sudden. He'd think about it later... For now, he'd enjoy his bachelor party to its fullest... Not that he wanted to hit on... Well, he did, but just couldn't. What didn't prevent him from materialzing at her door's room, anyways...
She was sleeping... Darn. One would expect she'd be having fun with her husband. No gawking THIS night for him. Oh well. But... There was something strange. He picked up another's thoughts in the room. Well, he had an excuse, so...
He opened the door only slightly, and managed to spot the intruder. A fairy! Great! He hadn't picked on one for a long, long time. He materialized behind the desk, and grabbed the fairy, holding her in a cage formed by his hand. "What do we have here...?" He grinned maliciously. "Looks like I'm gonna have to eat you, dear..."
Nickole:
Oh, wonderful… Nickole thought as she felt the thin cold, soft hands of the vampire surround her.
She knew what to do to get out of this mess for the moment. There was just something about big beings and trapping poor little fairies… this was at least the hundredth time she’d been caught. Only once had she been caught by a human… but he had captured her heart as well…. Shaking the thought out of her head she turned her ring to become invisible. She closed her eyes and concentrated deeply on the thought of fire. She thought of anger. She thought of hate. Her anger reached a peak within seconds, and her adrenaline rushed forth and she burned as hot as a white flame, which would cause even the vampire to open his hands just long enough to let her reach temporary freedom.
Zenmusha:
Vlad did his favourite facial gesture... you guessed it, he grinned, as the fairy's body began to increase in temperature, to the point that his skin started to peel away. He didn't care... After all, he was used to being ripped to shreds on a regular basis. If the faity was experienced in the escape department, he was a master of cunning... And so, didn't release the fairy, but instead searched for one of her wings (since she was invisible), and grabbed it.
He walked across the room, and closer to a pitcher by Sinead's bed table. "This cool you down, my dear." Vlad would've laughed out loud as he sunk her... but then again, he didn't want his mistress to spoil the fun out of it. The water hissed and turned to mist as it came in contact with the little creature.
Nickole:
"I think my "good fortune" DIED...if I ever had any at all.." Nickole thought angrily. "Stupid huge being."
Please wake up, Sinead.she pleaded silently. Wake up for me. Nickole's body cooled, and she began to reappear.
OOC: Please, don't post, Eslin would like to first![
Eslin:
Sinead heard a loud commotion. Wearing nothing but her nightgown, she sat up straight and pulled the sapphire hued cover up to hide her body. A nasty spell was about to fall from her lips, when she truly saw who had invaded her bedchambers this time of night.
When she saw Vlad she lost her temper and yelled, “Vladmir Dracul, what the heck are you doing!?” She then took a deep breath and narrowed her eyes.
With her temper changed she said in a dangerously soft voice, “Sir Vladmir, what right do you have to invade my most private chambers at this time of night. You’d better have a grand excuse.” She sat there patiently.
Auron, who’d been sleepy like a baby, woke up when he heard Sinead yell. He stared to reach for his bedside dagger when he actually heard what she had said. He looked up in surprise to see Vlad standing over him with a blue light in his hands. He said, in a more lenient voice, “Yes, what are you doing here?”
Vlad had two pairs of angry eyes piercing him like daggers for waking them.
Zenmusha:
Vlad almost FAINTED of glee... Not two, but three birds killed with one stone. He decided to no longer hold back his insane urge to laugh... And so, the yelling of a few awakened maids and the howling of dogs could be heard amidst the echoes of his cackle.
"What the heck am I doing?" He talked back. "Why, isn't it obvious? I'm drowning an invisible burning fairy that went to your bedroom in the first place!" His hand rose from the pitcher, and he shown the rather pissed looking fairy. The thought of relief Nickole emmited made him understand she was a friend of Sinead. What made him even more gleeful.
"Now, here's a question... Why am I, your most powerful bodyguard, forbidden to enter your dorms, but it's alright if they're a little fairy that would likely past unnoticed? Sounds like "specie"ism to me..."
OOC: Yes, I know "specie"ism doesn't exist...
Nickole:
Pissed was not the word. Nickole was furious, and could do very little about it. She was greatly relieved when Sinead awoke, but became even madder when she realized that they were carrying on their conversation while she was dripping wet, held tightly, and feeling very much abused. It became obvious the Sinead & the vampire were "friends." So, it soon became obvious to Nickole (& the mind-reading vampire) that Nickole hated him with a hot, burning passion...
Eslin:
Sinead turned a cool eye on Vlad, “Vlad, put the fairy down and learn to pick on people your own size.” She sighed; it seemed she’d been doing that a lot lately. It was funny, it seemed that every time she did it Vlad was involved in some way.
“No Vlad, you’re not forbidden form my bedroom chambers. You do have to protect me, and it is possible that the Nikole could have been an assassin. I guess I do owe you an apology.” She knew that the apology wouldn’t make him happy; he would rather she screamed at him.
She looked to Nikole who was really looking pissed. Sinead didn’t know if she liked the waves coming from the fairy, and she wondered what could have brought Nikole here. She felt a wave of excitement at the thought of talking to her again.
“But it turns out that Nikole isn’t an assassin. Vlad I’d like you to meet Nikole. Nikole, you’ve probably figured out by know that this is Vlad. Vlad I know your wondering, yes Nikole and me are old friends. You have nothing to worry about where she is concerned.”
She smiled a warming smile in Nikole’s direction, “I’m terribly sorry for the way you’ve been treated, my friend. I’ll have to find someway to make it better. But I can’t right now. If you wouldn’t mind I’d like you and Vlad to go to my writing chamber while I put some decent clothes on. I’ll be out to talk to you.”
Hearing the conflict somewhat settled Auron decided he wouldn’t be need and laid back down to finish sleeping. Sinead got up and walked to her dressing closet.
Zenmusha:
Vlad was tempted to go peek on the Queen... But then again, he had an annoying fairy to go and warn Sinead, so he quietly made his way to the writing chambers... In hos own way.
"So... You're Sinead's friend Nikole...?" He said, only half-interested in the talk... "Never knew she had fairies for friends... Frankly, I never liked you. Not even when I was a mortal pup. All because of a certain tooth fairy that put a viper under my pillow instead of a coin..."
Nickole:
"So, you believe in stereotyping, huh? How typical for a vampire..." Why am I being mean? she wondered to herself. Then again... why should I be nice? She knew the answer. Perhaps she did hate this vampire, but when your only 2 1/2 inches tall, the last thing you want to make is enemies. Especially if he was a "friend" of her beloved Sinead. She decided to try her best.
"Look, I'm not one to try to make enemies. We may not be able to be friends, but Sinead means a great deal to me & the electric currents of strife betwixt you & I will irritate her to no end. For HER sake, do you agree to at least try to be formal acquaintances?"
There, she'd said it...and she'd meant it...The rest was up to Vlad.
Zenmusha:
"It's not stereotyping, she really did..." Vlad could almost recall the bite of the little snake... And the undefined amount of time he spent fearing for his life... Only to discover he was bitten by a non-poisonous type.
Vlad grinned... Time for a little word game. "Hmmm... Formal aquaintances... After you tell me my kin believes in stereotyping...? I'm hurt... And so... I believe you must apologize to me in my race's classic way..."
He was lying, but vampire lore was so complex and secretive any ways she couldn't really tell whether or not he was being fake. "You must allow me to drink at least half your blood. Otherwise, we got a feud running between our families for all eternity."
Nickole:
Nickole's blood ran so cold that if Vlad had drunk it, it would have been like liquid ice. She glanced at him again. "Okay, maybe liquid ice with ICE SHARDS in it," she thought coldly.
"Since I offended you as a fairy, I will apologize to you as such. Fairies offer small, reasonable gifts as apologies. Can you accept a gift from me instead? ... Besides, I don't have very much blood & how do you know you would like the blood of a fairy, anyway?"
Zenmusha:
Vlad was overjoyed inside. His word game had stirred in the direction he had wanted. "Weeeeell... Since you have just offended me twice, once verbally and the other thinking outloud your dislike for my person, I'm... inclined that we reach a compromise."
He grinned evilly. "Since you, as you said, have so little blood in you, I believe that can be considered a small gift... And it's meaningful as well, since it is your own life essence."
His grin became a wicked open smile. "I didn't knew I liked dwarven blood before I sucked one dry either... So this will be a fine test... Hehehehehehehehe....."
Eslin:
Sinead picked out a simple yet elegant emerald green dress and put it on, struggling with a few of the buttons. She didn’t bother with fixing her hair, or seeing what she looked like. There was no need to impress Vlad nor Nikole. They knew her worth as well as she knew theirs.
She slipped matching green slippers on her feet to protect them from the cold unyielding floor of her sleeping chambers. She walked to the door that went to the sitting room; as she pasted the bed she could see the still sleeping from of Auron. She knew he’d be up and about soon.
She opened the door and strode out into the sitting room. She looked into the faces of Vlad and Nikole. If she had been any other person she would have giggled at the seen. But she suppressed the smile and took a seat in the chair behind her desk.
She did smile, but I was one of friendliness instead of humor. “Where would you like to start off. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you Nikole. Can I offer you anything to drink? It might take them a few minutes to find something for a fairy to drink out of though. How was you journey here?”
She turned and looked at Vlad. "I can find something for you to drink, too. Or you can leave. It's whatever you please. Like you said, your my body guard. If you believe I need protection from a small inocent fairy, then so be it." She finished with her wink for Vlad and another smile for Nikole.
Nickole:
"No, Thanks," Nickole replied. She was still a little unsettled from this odd vampire. If she were to have dtink, she felt sure she wouldn't taste it. "Actually, I'm really just here to see you. I miss you, Sinead. You never..." She trailed off. How could she whine to Sinead? "Nevermind," she corrected, "I know that you are a very busy person, and I got your message long ago informing me about you kingdom & new responsibilities. When I tried to whine to Einna, she told me that 'actions are louder than words' and if I really wanted to se you, I'd put forth the effort to come and see you myself. So, here I am."
Nickole smiled. To herself & to Sinead. She was glad that she had come, even after her unorthadox 'welcome.' Nothing could dampen her deep love & appreciation for Sinead. Ever.
Zenmusha:
Vlad was getting bored... He was just about to trick the fairy into lending him some of her blood, when Sinead came to spoil the fun... Meddling little... Mistress... He paced around the room angrily as the two began their small talk... And finally decided to do something as fade away... "Tell me when you're in need of me... Mistressssss..."
Eslin:
Sinead reached into her desk and brought out a beaker and a glass. The beaker was filled with wine. She poured herself some and sipped on it while watching her loyal friends. It was ironic how different the two were.
At the moment Vlad was playing the exact part of a sullen child. She opened her thoughts to him, “I’ll always let you know when I need you, Vlad. Don’t sulk too much. It’s really not becoming of you.” She hoped a light chastisement might make him happier. He seemed to be in a bored mood. She really did like to make those loyal to her happy, but it was impossible to be nice to Vlad all the time.
She turned to Nikole. Wow, it had really been a long time since she had seen her. So much time had passed. She had been so busy. “So, what have you been doing all these years, Nikole? I’m sure you have been busy. Einna was right! It was so very nice of you to come visit me. I’m sorry about you ‘welcome’, but Vlad only means the best for me.”
Nickole:
"Utopia may be impossible for men to enter, but news gets there well enough," Nickole replied. "I found out that something was up in Lowight, but didn't know what. You're a 'big girl' I know," she jested, "but I began to have odd dreams and fitful nightmares, so I decided to come and see what I can do to help."
PLeses give me something to do, Sinead. It seems that I am 'too small to help' everywhere I go lately. I'm bored to the point of sheer aggrivation!
Eslin:
Sinead sighed, "You could go to the boarder. I have a gruop that's already going. Since your so small you might catch something they don't. There is something very fishy going on at the boarder. I don't like it at all."
Nickole:
Nickole was so glad to finally have something to do again! She would do her best to keep her moth shut, her mind clear, and her eyes keen.
"Wonderful, I'd like that! But...what exactly am I looking for? More importantly, who do I need to be with so I dont 'miss the boat'?"
Eslin:
Sinead smiled at Nickole. She was perfect. "All you'll need to do is look for stuff out of the ordinary. Then you can report back to me. Since you have wings you might be able to come back to me faster than the humans. If there is something urgent going on, then you can come tell quicker than they can.
The party will be leaving soon, but for right now they are in the castle. Would you like me to arrange a meeting, or would you like to do the normal fairy thing and watch them before you make yourself known?"
Nickole:
"I would like to try to gain at least a little, general idea of the people I'll be traveling with. So, yeah... just let me me watch them in the room, but I'll need your endorsement in order to get them to include me, too. There aren't many people that'd like to have me along. So, let me watch them while they wait for you to send them off and then you can help me out with a 'lovely little introduction' to send us all off. What do you think?"
Aidon:
He arrived in at the castle full of hope and eager to see her, to see the beautiful creature that had so enchanted him. Long and hard had he chased her searching everywhere for her for several long months after there meeting. His search had led him far and wide until ending here Queen Silead had to be able to help him, she just had to.....
Nickole:
Comfortable among the letters on Sinead's desk and very happy that Vlad was nowhere in sight, Nickole turned her ring to return to her visible self. Sinead wasn't surprised a bit. Laying her quill down on the desk, she leaned back in her chair.
"Hey," Nickole chirped. "Did you miss me?"
Aidon:
After almost three hours Aidon had made it through the front gates and into the inner portion of the castle, not without more than a few magic tricks and illusions not to mention the fictional characters he had conjured from nowhere. In getting this far he had went from a visiting ruler to a chef and a deliveryman each one getting him closer to what he hoped would be the end he was searching for. While he did feel bad for all the lies he had told it was the only way. What else was he going to say, "oh excuse me you don't know me and the queen has never heard of me but i would like to talk to her in private." Right, so on with the lies he went all for the hope that the trail he had been following had been the right one. Aidon had come to realize that fairies leave a very specialized trail of magic anywhere they've been (if one knew what to look for that is). This trail he had followed to this very city indeed to the very gate that stood before him now. Standing in awe of the magnificent size of the gate alone Aidon took a deep breath and whispered to himself, "Almost there." as he ducked around a corner into shadows that would lead him to the castle courtyard.
Eslin:
Sinead put her quill away when Nickole appeared on her desk. She put away everything that she'd been working on so that she could talk to her friend. She smiled at the tiny fairy and said. "I was wondering where you had gotten off to. Did you get to talk to Talon?"
Nickole:
Nickole smiled.
"Yes, I got to speak to Talon. He's great... I think we're gonna get along really well." Nickole walked dantily across the desk, and Eslin extended her hand. Nickole walked easily onto Eslin's palm. She wanted to be closer to her friend that she was going to miss so badly. She did suceed in NOT crying, though.
"I just came to say good bye, Eslin. I hope to see you again soon. I'm supposed to meet Talon this evening, so... any instructions or shall I take my leave?"
Aidon:
Aidon had worked his way through all the castle wihtout so much as a confrontation with any gaurds it seemed that onc inside the walls the gaurds expected you had buisness or you would not have made it in the walls. All the better for him as it allowed the exploration for the queen to go unhindered. He hoped he wasn't too late....
Eslin:
Sinead smiled lovingly at the little fairy that was standing on her hand. It was surprising how much love such a small being could contain.
"I'm glad you and Talon get along. You'll enjoy the trip more. Just remember to keep you eyes open, and try to keep everyone else out of trouble." Sinead said with a wink.
Sinead couldn't really give a her a good-bye hug. Instead she just gave her a sisterly like kiss on the top of her head.
"No, I don't have anymore suggestions. Good Luck to you."
Sinead put her had down on her desk for Nickole to walk off. “Good-bye, my friend. I can’t wait to see you again.”
Nickole:
Lighting off Sinead's palm, Nickole turned her head to wish her friend a final farewell.
"Bye, sis," she smiled. "I'll be back." She flew across the room, and turned in the doorway to reassure her already strong-friend. "I always am."
Nickole floated effortlessly down the hallway and headed for the tower where she would meet her friend Talon the rest of the crew.
Aidon:
Aidon was just outside the door to the queen's room when the woman he had been tracking flew out only a foot in front of his face. Quickly shielding himself with a spell of illusion so she would not feel his presence. Waiting for the door to close behind her he started off down the hall after her. At least now he knew where she was......
Nickole:
Nickole spotted a window near the upper end of the hall, so she decided to take her leave through there. She flew toward the tower that Talon had instructed her to go toward, and she began going through a mental checklist to be sure that she had everything she would need for the journey to the border.
Aidon:
Aidon followed along quietly down the hallway and was just about to make his presence known when the fairy went out a small window and flew off to somewhere unknown to him. Just as Aidon was about to give up hope and leave the casle to travel in her general direction he remembered he could just follow her out the window. Afterall he could shapeshift into anything he had seen before. Closing his eyes in concentration he visualized the fairy in his mind's eye. When he was finished and opened them he was exactly 2 1/2 inches tall with a bright orange light glowing all around him. He quickly flew out the window after the fairy.
Nickole:
Feelin the aura of another fairy, Nickole turned around in time to spot an ornge-glowing fairy. Very curious, and begining to worry if everything at home was alright, she ligthed in the top of a tree to wait for him, but she was still in sight of the tower.
I hope there's no bad news coming with this man fairy.
Aidon:
when he noticed that she had felt his presence he was immediately worried that she would flee. But instead she simpy flew over to a nice shade tree and waited almost anxiously for him tocatch up.
Oh boy what should I say and how do I say it......
Nickole:
As the orange male fairy approached, Nickole began to be able to see his features.
He looks creepily familiar... she thought.
Pushing aside all thoughts of reason, she called out to him. "Hi there, sir. Would you care to join me on this beautiful day?" Even as she spoke, she hoped he wasn't going to bring a rain cloud in on her beautiful day!
Aidon:
Aidon was beginning to feel a little nervous about approaching the fairy he had only met once. Then, as if to encourage him she started the conversation. Although she tried to sound friendly Aidon couldn't help but notice that she was definately nervous and only vaguely arware of who he was. As he got closer to the fairy his mind began to wander he began thinking of all the conversations that had ran through his head after that one night of talking not 3 inches from each other. All of these great topics to talk about came into his mind and even ways to introduce himself. Then, before he realized it he was not but a few feet away and all he could manage to spit out over his suddenly over-sized tongue was "Hi, recognize me.
"O, great way to be smooth there Romeo." Aidon felt like turning and leaving right then. And it obviously showed for she smiled this sympathetic smile which only served to make him feel worse about his tragic opening remark.
Nickole:
Nickole smiled sympathetically. Not that this man needed her sympathy, but his was out of his element. He was out of his own skin for goodness' sake! He belonged in the wilderness... with Timber.
Her eyes sparkled as she spoke. "You? I seem to remember meeting a much larger version of you once, yes. How's Timber?"
Nickole was very happy to see her dear, dear friend!
Aidon:
Relieved that she had recognized him for who he was he smiled all te more. "Timber is fine, waiting for me just outside of the city gates, though I feel je is growing a little anxious for me to be away from these "two legs" (as a wolf thinks).
Man she is really quite pretty. I can't believe I have finally caught up with her. When I was searching for her and could find no trace of her for a long time it was hard to make myself believe she even existed at all.
Nickole:
Nickole crossed her arms and gave Aidon a good look-down.
"Well," she prodded, "You look pretty good as a fairy, but I know you're not that way for good, so why don't you let me in on what you're up to, dear?"
Aidon:
Aidon couldn't help but laugh at himself for his, what seemed now, foolish dream of this fairy ever caring for him or the chance of them being together. What he would not now tell her was that he could stay a fairy or he could make her into something else, either way. But it was obvious she did not ever think about him like that so he played it off. "Oh I just happened to be in this kingdom and see you flying by a window of some shop i was in.
Oh how it hurt him to hink that all along he had been decieving himself.
Nickole:
Nickole's heart could have burst...Aidon looked soooo sad, but she was afraid he didn't trust her enough anymore 4 him to tell her what was troubling him.
"A window, eh? A little out of your way to be 'shopping' in Lowight... wouldn't you agree?"
Aidon:
threw off by the obvious doubt in her voice and knowing the obvious holes in his story he couldn't hide a small look of pain at the so close insult.
Yet, always quick to think he just caually responded that he was always travelling the world looking for more things that he had never before seen. And hoped she didn't catch the insincerity in his voice.
Nickole:
Nickole turned from the man fairy to see Talon's silvery hawk speeding their way & she knew it was time to go.
"I'm so sorry," she explained, "but I have to go. Wanna join me? The people will be here soon..."
Aidon:
Caught up by the sudden change in converstion and the nastalgia of seeing his old friend once more, Aidon accepted her invitation to go wiht her without realizing it. As they went to fly off he noticed the hawk flying towards them from a ways off. "Is that hawk the one sent to look for you?"
Nickole:
She smiled, but she was nervous about what Talon would say about her just inviting someone to go along like they were a group of friends going to the next town...
"Oh yeah, that's the one," she replied. "He belongs to Talon. Aidon, what brought you this far away from your home?"
Nickole:
"Aidon?? Aidon? Why won't you answer me? Are you okay.... what's wrong?" Aidon seemed to be angry with her, or seriously distracted. It had been so long since she'd seen him... she left him to his thoughts.
"Good bye," she whispered even as she doubted he heard her. A tear dripped from the sky onto an irritated yellow tabby cat below as NIckole flew off to join Talon and the others.
