Bug Repair/MOD progress

Today 8/13/07:

---Installed MOD to list most recent topic title on Index (as was previously the case). If any bugs are discovered with this mod, please notify me immediately.

---Corrected code that was causing bugs in redirect link generation (the screens that pop up after posting or sending an PM that give you the option to return to your topic or return to the forum). If anyone has any further problems with PMs or post generation, please let me know.

More to come ASAP.

Today we installed a new template for us to test-try. If anyone experiences bugs with it, let me know. You will notice that most of the graphics are currently hideous X's. I'm working on that; in the mean time, think about how you feel about keeping this template instead of our old one. For the record, the old one is safe and sound, and can be returned at any time, so no panicking! The only two graphics I've updated so far are those beside regular and recently posted topics on the index page (the celtic knots). I'll work on more tomorrow. Feel free to give me ideas/feedback.

Just to update you guys on the mod progress, a couple things will be happening this Sunday. First, we'll be installing our spambot registration hack, which should finally kill our bot problems. Second, I'll be getting some MYSQL training that should enable me to do the other advanced mods we've been waiting on (including the quick reply hack I know some people have been asking about). I'll post an update Sunday afternoon on how things are going. Please be aware that there may be some downtime on the forum during the installation period at approximately noon on Sunday.

Today we installed a code that will prevent robots from registering for the forum. Should this not prove to be enough security, there is an additional countermeasure I can install next week. The effects of the mod installed should not effect forum functionality in any way; if you see something that looks abnormal, alert me right away.

My first attempt at installing a quick reply hack resulted in several hours of tedious code removal today. That being the case, I'm going to explore my options carefully before attempting another hack of this type. Quick reply hacks affect the template files (the way the forum looks) a great deal, and as we are using a customized template, it will take some creative engineering to make one of these codes interact with our template. I expect we will have one up within the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

Edit: Sorry guys, because I had to reinstall our template after the quick reply fiasco, it will take some time before I get our fancy icons going again, so bear with our lovely X's.

Repaired and upgraded all icons for thread topics. These are the little round jewels next to the topic names when you enter the subforums. Please let me know if you see any that do not look correct, display as unread (red) rather than read (blue), or anything else that is missing or weird. : )
