LORE: The Reluctant Damsel and the Dysfunctional Hero

The city closest to the border. It is a city filled with traveling people and inns that hold many of the roughest people in Ighten. It's a good place to find weapons and an even better place to find trouble.

"I'm sure it's a disappointment, but nothing's wrong with me. You've been sniffing too much fairy dust," Vlad said with a firm grin.

Tenele wondered the streets, she had been to three inns and no sign of Vladimir or her silver haired brother. Her anger was at boiling point that once again her noisy brother was trying to interfere in her life. It wasn't fair and it wasn't right. She didn't go and get all in his business "for his own good."

The memory of the last day she had seen him was clear. It was the day that he had knocked her out just to keep her from going on that journey to assasinate Shea... He was afraid something would happen to her so he went himself... She had woken up and her brother had even managed to talk officials into giving her duties just to keep her away, and Tenele never disobeyed orders. Talon knew that much.

Tenele owed him a nock on the head...

She ran out of another inn yelling back at them, almost getting thrown out for some odd reason. Maybe the fact she was steamed was making her have a bad attitude and it was making other people mad at her. At the moment, however, she didn't care.

Maybe it would have been a good idea to get the Shogun and tell him had had a fan club wanting to see him, but then again she was to angry at Talon and a bit angry at Vladimir for not telling her the name of the person leading there group. All in all Tenele was just angry.

Talon looked at Kaze and gave a nod, heading over to Yllia to see if she needed any money to pay for a room. He stopped in front of her, smiling his usual charming smile.

"Need any money to pay for a room?" he asked her. He was just a generous man it seemed, in reality he was.

Shinobu looked at Kyosuke for a moment and then walked across a stream of people, having to dodge them as they walked towards the stairs to go up to the rooms. "Kyosuke," she said softly, her eyes that held he hint of red to them looking up at him. "I remember something, but its nothing you could use to recognize her encase she comes back... I mean... There are probably a lot of people with ebony skin and white hair around the world..."

Shinobu brushed her hair from her face. She looked down at her dirty and dishoveled form. She missed the nice kimonos and the days when she wasn't always dirty. It seemed like forever ago since they had left Ongoreth, and she longed to see her home again. Soon she would see the Shogun and she would tell him how his homeland faired, about Shea's men trying to run nobles off trying to steal land... Maybe he would return home and set everything right.

(OOC: Yeah, laziness again. I'll read the Shogun's posts in Hepian before I start posting with him. The latest I'll do that by is probably Friday.)

Kyosuke was in a bit of a daze from the journey. He had ignored Kaze the whole ride, pondered upon what had happened to Vlad, and had amazingly not fallen off the horse the whole time. "I see..." he replied when he heard Shinobu's description. He had no idea how to go about finding the woman then, though he suspected it was a dark elf.

He blinked a few times when he realized something. "...it appears that I don't have the money to get a room tonight," he told his employer.

Shinobu smiled softly. "I payed for us both a room, it has two beds in it. I feel safer with you close by... I didn't think you would mind if I did so..." she said, looking back at him.
Nickole

Nickole uncrossed her arms and let out an exasperated sigh... "Yeah," she replied to Vlad's snooty comment. She flew straight inside and sat above everyone else that was milling about on the lobby floor below. Her 'perch' was on the tine of a set of antlers on a deer head that was mounted near the ceiling of the inn's lobby-type room.

Everyone else was making rooming arrangements, but she wouldn't need any, so she just sat tight. Arrogant vampire. Stupid...uggg... she fumed as she thought of the cursed member outside.

Ylia looked to meet Talon's silver eyes as he spoke. No, thank you. I've got money. Is there any particular room I should stay in or anyone in particular that I should be sleeping with? she asked in elven.

She blushed from the latter part of her question. It hadn't come out exactly as she had intended, so she was grateful that the other members of the group probably didn't know what she was saying.

Talon laughed and brought it under control quickly. If he had been anything other than a gentlemen he would have surely said something towards that comment, but the thought of what to say even related to that didn't cross his mind.

"Hmm... Well, it seems you would be staying alone... Maybe you could talk Shinobu into letting you room with her and Kyosuke can have a room of his own or sleep in there on the floor or something."

Vlad looked at the inn the fairy had just flitted away into. A half-crazed grin grew inexplicably on his face, and he strode casually through the doors of the establishment, taking in those in the room. A maid who had been carrying a stack of towels across the lobby stopped and stared at him, a scarlet hue creeping across her face as his lean, half-nude body stood directly in her path.

"I don't have one yet, though you're welcome to visit once the room number has been determined," Vladimir said to her cunningly, reading her mind. Her flush deepening significantly, the girl's eyes widened in embarrassment before she hid her face behind the stack of towels and rushed off to do her work.

"oh boy," said Kami earning a questioning glance from Kaze. "I'm so hungry right now." Kaze's face faultered but she then recovered, laughing.

"Come, I will get you a snack." she told him and started to lead him away.

"wait! I... kinda need clothes." he pointed out sheepishly. He was a little embarassed to be walking in a monks robe. Laughing again she looked to Talon.

"Sir Talon," she called formily, "I will leave the money for our room with you, if you don't mind. Right now Kami here needs more appropriate attire and some food in his belly."

Talon nodded and took the money. "I'll get you a room if you haven't already..." he said, fading off at the sign of Vladimir coming strolling into the room. "This might get a bit messy, maybe you two should clear out before it does..."

His eyes caught sight of the half naked vampire. Where had his tunic gone? Why did he have such a grin on his face...

The image of Tenele flashed in his brain. That stupid vampire... That stupid vampire!! Talon turned red, but it was most definitely not from emberassment. It was from anger.

Nickole told him he was with his sister... That he hadn't done anything yet, but apparently, judging from the vampire's appearance that he either tried to do something or accomplished the task with flying colors.

Talon grinded his teeth together until his jaw was tightly clenched shut. At least he managed to get Vlad away before he could accomplish the task of staying away all night and coming back in the morning...

The mental image flashed in his head and he closed his eyes tightly as if that would save him.

"Vlad!" Talon said louder than he had planned, opening his eyes to find most of the people in the lobby staring at him. "Come... here..."

Kyosuke blushed lightly for a bit, but shrugged it off quickly. "If you wish it then it shall be so," he said to Shinobu, a large, teasing grin forming on his face.

Shinobu smiled softly and nodded. "I just feel more comfortable with you near by," she admitted, not ashamed of the fact. She liked Kyosuke's company and felt more protected when he was around. After all he had saved her life numerous times.

Vladimir smiled innocently at Talon and walked over to him, though really the smile was inspired by reading the thoughts flying through the elf's overprotective mind. "You called?" he graced in mock subservience.

Talon made a seemingly growling sound as if he could almost read by the expression what the vampire was thinking, though poor Talon was delusional from anger to really notice he was wrong.

"I told you not to go off for long, because of the curse," Talon said, trying to mention Tenele in the same sentence as him. "We need to figure out a way to break it, and if you don't stop running off to do what ever it is you do then you might very well die." Talon's voice was too calm to be worried about Vlad. He wasn't worried about the vampire, but that whole "do good" feeling that was in him made him have to help the vampire, despite how much he wish he would die.

Kaze and Kami were out of the lobby before they even heard Talon's angry call. Kami grinned sheepishly at Kaze.

"Thank you..." he said. For years of being a horse and barely able to hold on to his humanity, sudden kindness and human interaction like this was like experiencing the world for the first time. Kaze smiled back at him, but her smile held more than happiness. It held relief and a compassion that was restoring itself for others. Back in the forest, when the Mage had revealed her, Talon had acted on fair judgment and kindness she hadn't known back home. And then there was Kami... he understood her more than she could even fanthome.

"Let's get you some clothes first." she said and led him to the closest clothing store. Kaze never noticed that no one seemed to recongize her. The incident had been years ago, who would remember now? But Kaze had been living on the run for so long that it she forgot that it had all died down.

Kami was easy to shop for. All they bought was dark brown buckskin pants and leather boots, at her persistance she got him to pick a silk white shirt, but at her dismay he grabbed a navy blue vest to wear over it. Kami smirked to himself when her beautiful smile fell.

After that, they walked out and she bought him a few rolls to munch on with meat and cheese inside them.

Tenele walked down the steet, absentmindedly with her hand on her shoulder. She was beginning to feel the shoulder ache more and more with every angry gesture she made.

Finally Tenele felt that she just needed to relax, maybe then it would feel better and she could think of where they could be. Hepian was a whole lot bigger than she had first thought.

Little did she know she had just passed two people from Talons group. She was heading in the right direction, she just didn't know it.
