Lore: (mature) Running Out of Time(Just outside of Hepian)

"It was fun," she said and slipped her wet clothes off quickly, grabbing a nightgown. She slipped it on over her head and pulled her white hair back in a braid to keep it from getting tangled after she had brushed it.

She sighed and turned to Bejei. "I liked swimming with you."

She titled her head as she looked him, admiring him for a moment as a smile came to her face.

Bejei smiled at her at her, trying not to look at her while he dressed. He didn't want those manly urges to take control of him again. He had to keep his desires in check for the sake of her and himself.

"I like swimming with you too." He said softly. "Come here..." He beckoned her to come over to him.

She went towards him with a smile and stood right in front of him, wondering what he wanted. He probably just wanted to hold her. She liked that.... Even with the evil spirit in him she liked having him hold her. He made her feel safe when it was him and not Bolrock.

"Yes?"

Bejei strolled forward and hugged Mia. He just wanted her close to him no matter what. He didn't care if they were intimate other than hugging. He needed her touch.

"I just want to hold you if that's ok?" He whispered into her ear. "I want it to be like this forever..."

Mia woke one morning with a sick feeling all over. She felt so sick and so dizzy. She couldn't stand to get up for the whole day.

The problem didn't go away either. The next day was just the same and then finally a week later it was getting slightly better. However, she couldn't stand to look at certain foods with out getting sick or dizzy.

She honestly didn't know what was wrong with her. She felt it was just a bug or something, but some little voice in her head that she guessed was her concience told her otherwise.

She sat up from the bed of pillows, holding her forhead a week later. She always seemed sickest in the mornings. She turned and laid back down beside Bejei, resting hersel on his chest.

Bejei felt Mia's head on his chest, and after a moment he opened his eyes, gazing at her with a small. A few weeks passed by, and he didn't get to see Bolrock, and everything was getting better. He felt happier than ever.

He didn't want to wake her so he just began to daydream and stared off into space. He knew Mia had been getting sick in the mornings, but he didn't think anything of it.

Mia sighed and sat up again, stretching. She looked down at Bejei and smiled sleepily. "Good morning..." she said to him gently, kissing his lips softly.

"Miss Morlay," a soft voice said. She glanced at the tent and saw the shadow of a woman.

"Yes?"

"There is a man here who wants to ask you some questions..."

Mia sighed. She stood up and grabbed her robe from off the floor. "I'll be right back!" She said to him with a smile.

She stood up and walked outside the tent, looking around and noticing the messenger girl walking off juggling a few coins in her hands.

Mia narrowed her eyes and looked around, seeing no man around that even looked as if he wanted to talk to her.

"Told you I would come back," he said as he grabbed her from behind, covering her mouth.

People looked up and froze what they were doing as Dryden grabbed Mia. They seemed worried, but didn't bother to move quickly to go to her aid.

Mia elbowed him low to where it would actually do some damage and she moved out of his lose grip. He growled and narrowed his gaze on her before rushing forward and knocking her far away and into a cluster of tiny tents which she flattened.

She landed hard in a roll and ended up lying flat on her stomach. Painfully she pushed herself to her feet, wondering for a moment how she had gotten that way until Dryden was standing over her and she remembered.

He staid there a long moment staring down at her and then he reached down.

"BEJEI!!!!!"

Bejei accepted Mia's kiss. He had a good nights sleep, and he figured she did as well since she's in such a cheery mood. Maybe, it's going to be a good day afterall.

He watched as a girl came in, telling Mia about some man who wanted to ask her questions. He didn't think anything by it, and folded his hands behind his head while he smiled at Mia before she left.

"Hmm... I think I might ask her to marry me... No. It might be too sudden, and she might not want to. The carnival is her life, and I have to think about what's best for her. Even though, the evil spirit haven't shown himself for a while, it doesn't mean he's gone." Bejei whispered to himself. "I'll wait..."

Bejei immediately came to his feet when he heard his name. He instinctively sprinted outside to see what happened to Mia. He glanced around frantically until he noticed Mia's form on the ground while the wing man stood over her.

"You?!" He instantly raced over to Mia, drawing his sword in the process and when he came into range, he struck out at the man.

Dryden maneuvered away from Bejei’s strike and around to where he was blocking Bejei from getting to Mia. At the same moment he drew his sword and rammed it with force against Bejei’s weapon, hoping to knock the fool off balance.

He shoved hard and spun quickly, grabbing Mia’s arm before she could do anything. He propelled himself into the air, Mia screaming as he took her hair, only holding onto her by her arm. He began to fly towards the city, wanting to lure Bejei into a place that he might find hard to navigate through.

He flew over the walls of Hepian, the soldiers at the top raising their bows and taking aim. They pulled back their bowstrings as Mia screamed for them not to shoot. They didn’t listen, they only thought about the beast at the moment. The gargoyle like human flew right towards them and past them, not thinking that they would shoot him while he held the woman in the air.

But, he was wrong.

They fired and it struck Dryden in the shoulder. He let go of Mia in surprise and it sent her plummeting to the ground.

Dryden swooped and grabbed her arm again, but they hit him with another arrow and he let go of her for good.

I’m going to die, she thought as she fell, no scream or anything uttered form her since she was to shocked to do anything. She hated the weightless feeling of falling what seemed like forever, her back to the ground and unable to tell when she would crash into the ear. I don’t want to die…

She slammed into the roof of a building with a hard thud, tumbling down the roof and falling over the edge, crashing onto some steps bellow and rolling down them until finally she came to a stop at the bottom of the steps. One of her arms and one of her legs were in strange unhealthy positions and she didn’t move or budge, seemingly dead looking from a distance away.

Dryden landed a distance away on a roof, growling and snarling like a dog as he pulled the arrows from his back one by one, having accumulated several more since he dropped the dead girl.

Bejei's attacks were useless in rage as the wing man blocked them with his sword before shoving him backwards. He couldn't help Mia in time, and he looked on helplessly while the stranger grabbed Mia and took off with her. He instinctively sheathed the katana and chased after them while running through the bustling crowd who watched in aww.

He ran towards the gate, and before he could shout out anything to the guards, arrows flew from their bows and pierced the flesh of the wing man. His eyes widened in shock and fear for Mia's safety as she fell from his grasp.

"No!!!" He yelled out.

Bejei ran in the direction where Mia fell from. He kicked down the door and found Mia's limp body on the ground. It seemed as though she was lifeless, but he raced to her side. He cradled her in his arms while he caressed her face gently.

"Mia...? Can you hear me?" He whispered to her.

Mia didn't blink or budge or anything at all. She laid there mostionless, breathing softly, but strongly. It was surprising that she was alive, considering how she had fallen.

After a moment her eyes fluttered and opened half-way. She only stared at him. After a moent her mouth opened slightly, blood visable on the inside. She couldn't find the words to say anything and after a moment of that she just closed her eyes and didn't open them again.

Her right arm and right leg were clearly broken, bent in strange directions. Blood stained her white hair on the back of her head.

But, blood began to appear where there was no visible wound, poolling around her hips. At first it hadn't been there and now it seemed as if it suddenly appeared out of thin air.

Bejei feared for the life of Mia after she didn't answer him, even though she opened her eyes. For a moment, he thought he was going to lose her after she closed her eyes and didn't open them for the second time.

"I failed to protect you again." He whispered to her as he kissed her lips softly.

He rushed out the door and raced all the way back to her tent. He didn't know what to do about the blood. All he did was wiped it and bandaged whatever wounds he found on her. He even tried to place her arms and legs comfortably against the bed pillows.

"You'll be ok."

Mia opened her eyes for a moment, her eyes glancing around the room noticing only blurry images. She still couldn't find the strength to speak. She opened her mouth to try and ask for water, but nothing came out, only a raspy sound.

A tear ran down her cheek. The pain in her arm and leg and in her back was so bad that she thought maybe that was the reason she couldn't talk? She tried, but nothing wanted to come out. It was almost as if she had broken her voice box.

Bejei could tell the pain was worsening since Mia couldn't even voice a single word after the fall. He could not lose her... not like how he lost his family. The rage and sorrow erupted within him before intertwining with one another and a small sparkle of red briefly glimmered from his eyes.

"Rest. Don't try to speak." He told her.

He wiped the tear from her cheek as he placed his head on her shoulder, trying to comfort her as well as himself.

Mai stared at his blurry form and couldn't move to even nod that she understood. She was sore all over and felt as if evey bown in her body was broken. She closed her eyes with out meaning to, falling into a darkness she had never felt before.
