Heirot

Siren walked up to the counter as casually as she could. The young lady standing behind the counter looked at her with a nervous smiled played across her face. She had seen Siren once before, but apparently the shock at seeing such a creature had hardly diminished. And this time Siren was all patched up with slashed clothing. What a sight she must have been, her left arm and wings bandaged up as they were.

"I'd like two slices of AngelFood cake, if you please," Siren said confidently, taking out her coin purse. She looked over at Rai, who was still having a hard time trying to see everything. "Want anything else?"

The lady quickly ducked down into the counter and brought out a covered tray with the cake in it, smiling at Rai and trying not to stare at the Angel.

Soran stared blankly as Mizuki fed Blade. He understood that was how it worked, but...it baffled him anyway. And half her chest was exposed..

The rogue forced his eyes away toward the wall stiffly and was quiet. "Maybe they went into town," he said, forcibly calm.

Rai looked up at Siren with her body halfway pulled up the counter and grinned mischeviously. "Nope, thats fine, thank you!" she said in a happy voice, smiling at the woman behind the counter.

Rai let go of the counter and ran to the other side of the room, staring at more cakes and such. She glanced out the window to see Toby staring in at carmel apple longingly. "Miss Siren! Can we get Toby something?!"

"Maybe they went into town," Soran said. Mizuki nodded absently. Blade suckled eagarly on her and it tickled sometimes.

"I just find it weird they left the house without leaving a note or something..." she said trailing off.

Siren looked out the window at the wolf.

"Hmm, I don't think it would hurt to get him a caramel apple. As long as it's not chocolate, right? Ooh! I wonder if Soran has ever had chocolate! I bet he hasn't!" Siren grinned evily. "OK, let's get Toby a snack and bring some chocolate back to see if we can't make a new addict back at the house!"

Siren grabbed a small bag of chocolates, both dark and light mixed, and brought it to the counter with the apple to join the cake. She handed some coins to the lady and picked up all the loot, bringing the plate with cakes slices on it over to one of the two small tables in the shop near the door.

"we'll have these here and take the rest back with us, sound good?"

Rai grinned and nodded, running to the table and climbing onto the top with a smile, waving at Toby, who was licking his chomps already, anticipating the taste of the carmel apple. Alastar couldn't remember the last time he had had some sort of sweets....

Rai looked at Siren, crinkling up her nose. "Addict? You are going to make Soran an addict? What's an addict? Those people who live in the tops of houses?" Rai asked innocently.

"hmm.. Close! But not quite! Let's see..." She paused to think as she sat down herself, adjusting her wings for comfort.

"I guess an addict would be someone who likes something so much that at times all they can think about is getting that thing. Well, that's a little extreme I guess... but you get the idea."

She picked up a fork and dug a big chunk out of one of the slices, shoving it in her mouth and making happy sighing noises.

Outside Gwendolyn and Naoki were returning home from shopping. After Blade had run off Gwendolyn said he'd find Mizuki and Soran, then she had gone quite with a smirk played upon her face. Then Gwendolyn said they should leave for an hour. Naoki had her questions but she never asked them because Gwendolyn's smirked just answered everything.

But Gwendolyn stopped Naoki before getting anywhere closer to the house.

"How about... we find Siren and Rai eh?" Gwendolyn asked Naoki who was carrying two bags of heavy food and other assorted items and was begging silently to be able to put them down.

"What?" Naoki asked, exasparated, but one look from Gwendolyn and she submitted. Gwendolyn smiled and took a bag from the thankfull Naoki and they walked back into town. "What are you playing at?"

Gwendolyn hummed musically for a minute then answered, "I'd rather not disturb them for awhile longer." Naoki smiled and she followed Gwendolyn into the sweets shop where they found Siren stuffing her face along with Rai. "Now too many sweets will rot your teeth." Gwendolyn teased.

Siren looked up in surprise, her mouth full of cake, when Gwendolyn spoke. She swallowed it down and reached her right arm up over her head to run her fingers through her hair,

"hehe.. you found us. It couldn't be helped though! Rai has never had AngelFood cake!"

Siren's face contorted in a look of mock dissaproval as she said it.

Both Gwendolyn and Naoki laughed. They both put down the heavy bags and stood around the table.

"Gwendolyn's banned us from going home." Naoki grinned and Gwendolyn rolled her eyes.

"For a good reason," Gwendolyn said smiling.

"A good reason?" Siren repeated quizically. She was generally confused. Then she looked the other two over again, feeling like something was missing.

"Hey, where's the runt at?"

"The runt," Naoki said amused. "Ran back to his mommy after I took him inside because the two lover's were splashing around in the stream when they were supposed to be doing laundry." Naoki surpressed a giggle. "And why we can't go home is because--HMMPF!!"

Gwendolyn clamped her hand down on Naoki's mouth. "Quite you."

Soran blinked away as he noticed Mizuki notice him stare at her. "I think they're probably fine. If you're worried, we can go look for them," he offered calmly.

Mizuki nodded and moved to covered herself quickly as Blade moved away, finishing his lunch. Blade burped and promptly fell asleep across both Mizuki and Soran's laps with his head snuggled on Soran's legs.

"I get the feeling that Dark Angel babies do their growing in their sleep..." Mizuki remarked smiling. She didn't flinched mentioning his heritage this time.

"In their sleep?" Soran questioned, before catching on that it was a joke. "Oh, you're wearing that," he said as he noticed the cord around her neck for the first time.
