Dralan wagged a gnarled finger at Mizuki. "Just a little discovery I found while doing one of my experiments. Nothing to worry about...as long as it stays in my hands." His voice crept lower as he finished his sentence, indicating that he was serious. "Tonight, be there by dark," he told Soran seriously, and let himself out the door. Soran watched him coldly, no reaction escaping his expression.

Mizuki stood there watching the door where Dralan had left. Dralan had said it was important but... what was going on?

"Umm." she was momentarily at loss for words. It seemed to her like the morning was completely forgotten and never happened. Maybe it didn't. Then again, Soran still needed to recover himself so... "Despite what just happened," she started saying a little uneasily. "Who wants breakfast?" She figured Siren was still sleeping. She didn't want to disturb her.

Rai poked her head out from under the blanket. "I do, I'd like pankcakes please!!!" Rai said exitedly, though her expression didn't match it at all.

OOC: I. WANT. TO. HUG. HER. hgufdnvgauidhfafd

Mizuki smiled at Rai warmly and told her she'd bring it to her when it was ready. Gently, Mizuki walked to Soran and put her hand on his shoulder.

"Are you alright? Are you hungry?" she asked him softly, as if a higher tone in her voice would send Soran off the edge of a cliff.

Soran started when Mizuki touched him, though only slightly. He'd gotten lost in his thoughts, watching Dralan leave. Registering the worlds his brain had collected, he put her question back together and looked at her, wondering if he was hungry. His head made him feel sort of like he's just swallowed a brick, but he nodded, knowing he hadn't had a full meal in weeks. "That sounds good. I'll help," he said, his even voice sounding like a different person than the one that had been speaking to Dralan Thornock.

OOC: for some reason, I dreamed he completely refused her and ran away. o.O Anyway, I'm leaving for Madison, NJ to check out a college called Fairleigh Dickinson. I'll be gone for like...half of this day and probably half of tomorrow.

Mizuki smiled at him. She wanted to tell him to lie down and rest but something stopped her. She'd let Soran do whatever he needed to do. She nodded and turned to lead him to the kitchen. They still had food supplies left over from when they left and from when they returned. Siren must've emptied out her bracelet.

While Mizuki gathered what they needed, her thoughts strayed to Blade. Wondering how he was and what new things he got to see and accomplish.

Soran lit the stove and set a pan to heat over it while Mizuki mixed the batter. Cooking was something he considered himself good at, and one of the few things that relaxed him, but he had no experience making something impractical like pancakes, so he observed Mizuki instead of participating. Dralan's proposal turned over in the back of his thoughts as he inspected it from all sides. He made a glass of water and drank the whole thing down, hoping it would kill his headache, though he suspected it wasn't a normal one. He refilled the glass and started working on it again. Going off to merc work just when they had gotten back...he could probably handle it, but he doubted Mizuki would appreciate it. Not when they were finally all together again.

A troubled thought struck him. All together... "Mizuki..." he asked, looking at her seriously, "Where is Blade?"

"Where is Blade?"

Mizuki stopped mixing the batter to stare at the wall. She sighed and said, "I had to send him away. Our life is too much for a baby..." She felt sad. Mizuki picked up stirring the batter again then took a ladel and scooped some of the batter out and dribbled it on the hot pan. "Besides," she started, finding a way to see that what she had decided for Blade was indeed the best thing to do. "How else can he learn his Dark Angel hertiage? Better to be around the people who know it."

Soran's gut went cold as he heard the regret in Mizuki's voice. "I see," he said in tempered agreement. He was angry, but he knew it wasn't toward Mizuki. It wasn't even toward their enemies that had forced her to part with her son; he was just angry. He pictured the child in his mind, Blade's keen emerald eyes reflecting his own like a mirror. But Mizuki was right. He turned and leaned back against the counter, keeping his thoughts off his face. He raised his glass up and drank more water because it was there, though at that moment he wished it was whiskey.

Mizuki continued dripping batter onto the hot pan and flipping the pancakes. When each one was done she transfered them to a plate. So far she almost had a stack. To keep her mind off of her son, she started to hum softly.

Soran looked over at Mizuki and watched her silently as her musical humming filled the awkward silence in the room and seemed, as usual, to oddly make things better. How did she do that? Could all women do that? He doubted it. He walked behind her and looked over her shoulder at the batter she was tending to in the pan, and tried to figure out how she knew when they were done without seeing the bottom. "So...how do you know when to flip them?" he said.

Mizuki smiled to herself. Figures, to her, that men didn't know every trick to cooking. "It bubbles at the top, see?" she told him while pointing out to the one she had just started.

"When it stops bubbling like that, you flip it then just check the other side frequently until you have no trouble lifting it up any more." To have him so near her again, her heart started to pound a little and her cheeks flushed. Her blood rushed through her veins, she needed to calm down. There was nothing happening, He was just really close.

Soran was watching the bubbles on the pancakes critically. It was a dull task, but seemed to take his mind off his headache and Blade. "I'm going to take that job from Thornock," he said calmly after a moment, sounding like he'd made up his mind.

Mizuki blinked then turned her head to look at him. There was no need though because her head almost collided with his because of how close he was.

"Why?" she asked. She really wouldn't push him to rest, but she wanted to know why he'd take it.

Soran took a slight step back as he realized how close he was in Mizuki's face now that she faced him. "It should be easy, and we could use the money," he said, not seeming particularly concerned about the other motives Dralan had spelled out.
