Being an illusionist presents a bevy of business opportunities. Vairah's been using her ability coupled with her belief that pretty much everyone in the world is a greedy, gullible idiot to work as a small-time con artist when just insulting people at random doesn't seem to cut it. Of course, most scams of any complexity work better with more than one person. So I've got it in my head that she needs an accomplice. Not being a people person, she's not going to go looking for one, so how she's going to end up with one will take a little planning based on who it is.
The only real requirement is that he/she not be racially prejudiced to too great an extent (hello, half-human half-drow here), though I do sort of like the idea of someone blunt-spoken enough to put her in her place when she's being... not to put too fine a point on it... a hypocrite. Vairah's mother likes to randomly pop in and try to take her back home, too, so whoever-it-is should definitely not (if this wasn't self-evident) be easily thrown off by crazy drow ladies.
