LORE: Mature: Unforgiven

The Captial of Arken, it is the darkest known city in the world. As it is the capital and the home to the Witch Queen herself, it is a very dangerous place to enter. Home to the toughest and roughest crooks around.

Elena looked down at her empty plate. She sighed and put a hand to her stomach. She was so hungry, but couldn't bring herself to eat.

She had grown paler than she used to be, but basically because she rarely saw the sun. Arroes after all, was dark most of the time.

She was still pretty, but seemed more haunted than she used to be. A broken heart could do that to you.

She winced slightly and put both hands to her stomach. "Oww..." she breathed. "Don't kick mommy that hard..."

Lann laughed slightly. He wasn't trying to be rude, but her reaction was rather funny.

"Are you alright?" He asked grinning from ear to ear.

Elena put both hands to her stomach. "I would be if my son wasn't trying to kick my insides to peices," she muttered. She glanced at Lann, wondering what he found so funny.

Her eyes wondered to Airis, who seemed a bit disturbed by something. "Something wrong Lord Airis?" she asked softly, wondering what was bothering him now.

Airis took another bite of his food then lifted his head to look at her. "As a matter of fact there is my dear." he answered, "I haven't been well as of late. I seem to be growing weaker by the day."

Lann through a glance at Airis. He had poisoned his food on several occasions but the old man didn't seem to be affected by it. However it was working just at a very slow rate.

"I would like to see you a little later on," Airis continued, "In private, if you don't mind." He looked over at Lann with confusion and hatred.

Airis bent over coughing. His sickness was worsening. He didn't have much time left he presumed. Lann smiled at his agony and continued eating.

"Okay," she said, seemingly confused by his statement. She couldn't imagen Airis being sick, he always seemed too powerful to Elena.

She brushed a blond strand of curly hair from her face and behind her ear. "I'll be in my room."

Elena stood up and left the room, walking back to the privacy of her room. She sat at her window, her feet propped up and her mind in another realm.

Airis knocked on Elena's door. He wasn't sure how he could explain everything to her. He didn't even know if she would even trust him.

****************************

Airen stood beside Lenna looking at the great palace that had once belonged to his father. He couldn't believe that after all of this his path led him back here. The past six months with Lenna had been amazing. There was an unspeakably bond between them now. He had fallen in love with her, yet he still loved Elena too.

He pushed these thoughts aside for the moment. He had to focus on the task at hand, saving Elena! He looked over at Lenna, "Well here we are." he said, "It was rather interesting my last visit here."

Amidst the darkness of Arken, Lenna radiated with flawless beauty.

Elena leaned over in her chair to look and see who came in through the door. It was Airis so she could only guess that he had come to explain what he couldn't say at breakfast. "Come, sit..." she said, motioning gently to a chair in front of her.

Since Airen had abandoned her she had come to not trust Airis or any of the other demons in this temple. She found them at least someone to talk too.

Airis stumbled a little as he made his way to the chair. He sat down gently. He seemed to have aged 100 years over the past few months.

"I have to tell you something my dear," he began placing a hand on hers. "I won't be around much longer I'm afraid." He coughed onto a rag he held in his other hand. "Lann..." he continued, "... Don't let..."

He coughed uncontrollably. He lifted his head to look at her. He knew his time was short now. "...The baby..." he mumbled falling to the floor.

Elena's eyes widened as he fell to the ground. She nelt next to him. "Airis!" she called out and put a hand to his face.

Elena forgot about how much she used to hate this man. After all, he had been one to show her kindness, even if it was masked, when her husband had left her.

"I'll go get help..." she said and stood up quickly, feeling a sudden pain rack her insides. She winced and her hand fell to her stomach...

Lenna looked around at the place that surrounded her. These grounds spooked her. She didn't like the darkness or the things that lurked in it. She glanced around cautiously, and placed a tighter grip on her bow. Her knuckles turned white. She couldn't imagine the way torture and pure pain Elena must be in. She was a good-hearted woman in a miserably, evil place. With wide eyes Lenna asked Airen, who was standing next to her," So this is where they're keeping her." It was more of a statement than a question. She looked at the towers looming over them in the dark sky,"But which room is she in?"

A man entered the room suddenly. He glanced at Airis then turned his attention to Elena lying on the floor next to him. "Elena!" he yelped, rushing to her side. It was Airen, or so it seemed. Lann had disguised himself.

Lann picked up her head and carressed her softly. He then looked back at Airis. "You did this." he yelled, trying to be a caring husband. He stuck a pillow under Elena's head and stood up over Airis.

Airis's eyes cracked open. He knew instantly that it wasn't his son. He knew exactly he it was. Fire roused from Lann's hands. "You won't come back this time old man." he said.

*******************************

"Why don't we go in and ask." he said drawing his sword from its sheathe.

He walked through the front doors and saw the statue of Gargon rebuilt. Around it layed at least 300 dead bodies. All of them the great demon's followers.

He walked through the carcasses kicking one here and there to be sure they were dead. The floor was slick with blood. "They haven't been dead long." he said, " the blood is fresh and they haven't started to smell."

He walked up to the alter where Elena had nearly been sacrificed. The memories of the night flooded back to him in an instant. It felt as if his head was splitting open. He hit one knee screaming and grabbing ahold of the alter.

Elena felt this odd wet feeling between her legs. She wasn't used to having babies. In fact, she had never been around anyone, or ever been given advice or help with carrying her child. So she didn't understand what was happening to her.

She laid her head on the ground when Airen came in. She clenched her fist, both in anger and pain. "Stay away from me," she said, almost crying. "No, don't hurt him!" she said, crawling in front of Airis.

Airis levitated himself from the ground. He floated a way from Elena and Lann. "You may have me but you won't have him."

The walls of the palace began to crumble. Flames rose up from the rubble. Lann laughed mockingly and lifted himself into the air. "Is this supposed to intimidate me?"

Airis was weak and he knew that he couldn't defeat Lann. The flames died out and snow began to fall from the sky. The wind cut through them like a knife. Airis saw Airen and winked at him. "Your end has come," he told Lann glaring into his eyes. Airis exploded in the air turning the icy domain back into a firey hell.

Airen looked up in astonishment. It couldn't have been his father. He was already dead. The memories of the past flooded him again but this time he remained on his feet. He remembered the battle with his father and how his power grew so quickly. A red orb flaoated where Airis body had once been. Airen knew what this was now. His destiny was to take his father's place. Rule with the demon Gargon. Not fight him.

The red essence of Airis shot into Airen's body. Airen rose from the ground arms and legs spread and completely motionless. Everything that Airis knew, now Airen knew. He knew about his brother, about Gargon and his son, he knew about Lann and his betrayel. Airen now had the power of his father combined with his own.

Lann watched everything as it happened. He now feared his time had truly come. He couldn't give up though. He was so close to completing his task.

Airen looked at Lann with scorching eyes. "So you wanted to kill my son and you decieved my wife." he growled softly, but his voice echoed through the air.

Lann changed back to his true form. He smiled evily. "That is not your son anymore. It is something else. A demon. Gargon."

Airen's eyes burned with even more hatred. He knew this was true but still denied it to himself. A flash of fire shot through Lann and Airen hovered on the other side with blood running down the blade of his sword.

Lann fell to the ground in agonizing pain. He didn't scream or shed a tear though. He fell next to Elena. That's... not you...r...son..." He said before his body caught fire and burned instantly.

Airen rushed down to Elena's side. "I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner. I had to find you." He held her hand and searched for Lenna. He hoped she could deliver a baby. He just looked at Elena in her pain with tears rolling down his face. He didn't know what to do. So many things happened at one time. He just held her hand tightly and held her gaze.

Elena had tears rolling down her eyes. She was in pain too much to understand what was going on. All she knew was this was Airen in front of her. She took her hand and slapped him harder than she had anything in the whole world. So hard that it could knock his head sideways. So hard that she through she had broke her hand, but it was just stinging.

"Bastard! Ahh...." she clutched her stomach.

Airen's head turned as her hand went across it. He turned back to her and continued to hold her hand. "I'm sorry for everything. I don't know what to say."

He knew that she was in pain he could see it in her eyes. "Hate me if you want but don't die on me and don't let our son die."

He could see the hurt in her eyes, but not just her physical pain. She hurt emotionaly. He felt the guilt rising in him. He feared that she already knew somehow about he and Lenna. He didn't know what he should do. His feelings were split and confused. All he wanted at the moment was for Elena to make it through this child birth.

"I love you!" He didn't know what else to say to her,"And I can't lose you."
