Tenele nodded, pulling her blanket closer. "Thank you," she said softly, brushing her hair off her shoulder again.
She felt she should say something more. "You know... you don't have to be all the out in now where... You can come back to the camp if you want."
She wished he wouldn't have pulled away. He wished he would have stayed closer... She liked him close. But, then again she was just a human to him.
Maybe he would like her more if she were a vampire?

Vlad grinned slightly. "I suppose you're better company than that babbling fool I picked up." He turned to lead her back toward the camp, then seemed to think better of it and turned back to her. He placed his arms back on her, crossed securely around her shoulders, though their chests didn't touch, and teleported them both back to the camp. As always, the effort of bringing another person with him left him stunned for a moment. He recovered quickly and looked down at her thoughtfully. The part of him that remembered what it was like to be held in a warm embrace felt a sympathetic phantom warmth in his mind. His arms loosened, about to move away.

Before she could stop herself, her mouth open and, "Don't..." she said softly, then before she could stop the rest of it. "I like this..." she said, stepping closer.
Oh gods, what did I just say... She looked away quickly, flushing slightly.
"I like being close to you..." she said softly and then looked up with a smile. "A girl gets pretty scared out in the woods alone..."

Vlad's crimson eyes blinked down at her in surprise, but he didn't move away. "My dear maiden girl," he murmured with a smirk growing on his face, "If I didn't know better, I'd say you were falling for me." He ran his thumb along her cheek, his fingers framing her face before sliding lightly down her neck, his skin cool and smooth.

Tenele closed her eyes for a moment. "How many times have you said that already?" she asked, glancing back up with her blazing green eyes. "Three times?"
She let a hand trail up his chest for a moment. "And I do believe it's true..." she said softly. "But, I'm falling for a man who thinks of me only as... 'some human'. Yet... I can't stop myself."

Vlad froze as her words registered, and suddenly everything that happened tonight, including this embrace, appeared in a different light. He hadn't expected her to answer him seriously...and yet it wasn't such a big surprise. Maybe he'd already known? No wait...she could be joking. But he knew he was damned sexy, so it could only be expected... No, why was he thinking about it this hard?
"Maiden Girl," he said almost gently. His hands slid over her shoulders to her waist, and let go. "Get some sleep." His voice was harder now, speaking with conviction. He couldn't afford to be confused or startled. That wasn't how he did things. If he wasn't sure what was going on, that was all the more reason to retreat back to familiar ground until he was. He turned and sat down on the opposite side of the fire, laying with his back to its meaningless warmth.

Vlad's lips twisted into a sour grin from where he lay on the ground. "He'll last till morning." He would have to go back for his clothes, but he wouldn't bother with it for the time being. He wanted to lay still and think. It had been years since he'd felt so disoriented about a situation; he wanted to know why.

Vlad finally fell into a frustrated sleep after about half an hour. He was too impatient to deal with the subject for very long. When he woke the next morning, he found, gratefully, that his thoughts were no longer plagued by the uncertain restlessness of the night before. He rolled onto his back and looked past the dead fire at where Tenele lay peacefully still asleep. Shrugging his stiff shoulders, he sat up and in a blink, appeared sitting next to her. Her blanket was sliding off, barely covering her chest. Using his telepathy, he slid it upward so that it covered her discreetly again, but not so gently that she could sleep through it. "Sun's up, maiden girl," he greeted with a smirk.

Tenele sat up quickly when she felt the sensation of something sliding across her chest just as someone spoke to her. She sat up with a gasp, her hand going to the blanket that covered her form. She took a deep breath. Glancing over at the form next to her.
She narrowed her eyes on him and adjusted her blanket. "Morning," she said, standing up.
"Why don't you go get your friend while I change," she said standing up. She brushed the dirt off her blanket and ran a hand through her silver hair, which felt like silk on her skin.

"That would indeed be entertaining. However, I'd rather let you try on your own first," he smiled, fading from her side to go retrieve their 'pet' and his own clothes. She would soon discover that the clothes she had laid out to dry the night before now hung from the branches of the tree next to her, just out of reach.

Tenele jumped up and down trying to reach her clothes. "Damn you," she muttered as she stared at the clothes hanging in the tree.
She looked at the tree and at the limb, then walked up to the tree, climbing it as best she could with one hand. She got to the limb that lead out to the branch and she moved across it slowly, holding on with one hand.
She laid down on the limb, reaching out with her one hand and balancing using her other arm, but the hand still held the blanket.
She grabbed her clothes and started to turn around when she lost her balance. She caught herself on another limb, holding on with on hand, dangling. She let go and landed on the ground with ease.
"Take that, vampire," she muttered as she went to undress behind the horse.
