Lore: Forgotten Enemies

Siren was awoken from her sleep by Mizuki's soft calling of her name. She stirred slightly, then looked down sleepily to the porch under the balcony. Seeing Mizuki there and Rai a little distance off looking distraught, she stretched and hopped down from her perch to land on the ground below her.

"Good morning," she said as casually as she could, glancing around for sign of Soran, just in case.

Rai looked at Siren sadly. "I can't find Soran anywhere! Did he go to town without me?" she asked Siren, her bluish gray eyes sparkling.

She enjoyed spending time with Soran and fighting off the bullies in town. She felt left out that he had left her out home with out saying good bye or good morning!

Blade was standing timidly at Mizuki's feet. He clutched her leg for better support. "Morning.." Mizuki said softly.

"I can't find Soran anywhere! Did he go to town without me?" Rai asked Siren. Mizuki cringed back at the question.

"Daadee, go byebye?" Blade babbled. He looked at all of them with curious glowing eyes. The ones that matched Soran's so much. Mizuki willed herself not to breakdown.

Siren curled her lip up in a half-hearted grin at Rai.

"Soran's going to be gone for a little while. He's making sure that no one's going to hurt any of us again. But don't worry, little one, he'll be back when he's done."

Rai frowned and titled her head. "Why couldn't we go with him?" she asked, so confused. Usually they wen't into dangerous places together. Why couldn't they go this time?

"Will he be back tonight?! I want to play prince and princess!"

Siren thought about the answer for a moment, "It's a guy thing, I'm afraid. He might not be back for a few days... I'd give it a week at latest." She tried to sound upbeat and optimistic, as if this was a mere trifle. She conveniently left out the part where he had no choice but to go alone and was meeting the person that had those nasty arrows, and that Tensho had played a part in all this.

"Is a week a long time?" she asked absentmindedly.

Then she glanced around wildly. "Where is Tencho?! I want to play with him! See if he will marry me!"

At the sound of Tensho's name, Mizuki balled her hands into fists. Blade cooed to be picked up and Mizuki diverted her anger to safely pick up her son.

"I'll go make breakfast.." she said numbly and left the two to wander into the kitchen.

Siren watched after Mizuki, then turned back to Rai.

"Well, it seems that Tensho had some guy things to take care of too! He left last night a bit before Soran did, but you weren't feeling well so he had to go without saying goodbye, but I'm sure he would have if he had had the opportunity." The last word came out slightly sour despite her best efforts.

"If you want I'll play with you, have anything special in mind?"

Rai shrugged. "I don't know... what would you like to play?" she asked, looking up at Siren with a bright childish smile.

"hmm, let's see," Siren looked around for inspiration, "what about a game of tag till Mizuki's done making dinner? I won't cheat and fly!"

Rai giggled and nodded. "Okay!" she said and run up to Siren. "Tag!" She yelled and took off away from her before Siren could catch her. Since Rai was a child she was probably going to have more energy than the Dark Angel. Children always seem to run faster and last longer than adults.

Siren laughed and took up the chase, her long legs moving her forward quickly so that she closed space quickly, she leaned down, slowing momentum and reaching for Rai, the work "tag" forming on her lips.

Rai giggled, glancing behind her just as she felt Siren's hand touched her back. Rai ran to a tree giggling and trying to catch her breath as she turned around to head after Siren.

Siren, half surprised she had actually tagged Rai (children are so slippery!), turned around and started running, at a somewat slower pace as she glanced over her shoulder to see if Rai would try to pull any surprise moves on her.
