Lore: Memories of a Past
Mako 'felt' Feiminn change back to human form when hooves stopped hitting the ground and was replaced by lighter thuds.
Mako walked into town and then wove her way around as if looking for something hard to find. Then she sauntered down an alley but not all the way. Just before the end she turned and opened a door.
Inside was another door that had a small door that slid open to view who knocks on the door. Mako knocked on that door and removed her shoes. A man opened the door, when he saw Mako he said, "Ah so ye have returned have ye? Well come on in, we've missed yur dancin." He told Mako.
He opened the door. "Cum right on in Miss Mako," The way he pronounced her name made it sound like it should be for a parrot, "Shud I get yur room ready?"

Feiminn followed Mako through the town and down the alley, but as she entered the house Feiminn hesitated a bit at the door, before stepping inside. She hated to be inside, it made her feel trapped.
Feiminn saw Mako take off her shoes, so she did the same, and flinched as the man appeared. Apparantly he knew Mako.

"Yes that would be great thanks." Mako said to him, "Oh this is Feiminn she said pointing to her friend.
"Nice to meet cha Missy. Welcome to Just Around the Corner." He opened the door wide.
Inside there was an empty stage, several tables, a few customers drinking beers and a piano. Behind a counter was a plump little woman wiping off the counter where something had spilled apparently not long ago either.
"Ai me! If it isn't Mako!" She left her rag and hugged Mako. "Nice to see ya again. It's been so long since we saw ya last, I was wondering if, when you came back, well.." She thought for a moment. "If I invite a couple of friends, would you dance those beautiful dances again?"
Mako laughed a bit, "Sure, but you know all you have to do is ask and I'd change into one of those dresses, even if I wasn't dancing, I just love them. It's not like you pay me anyway."
"Ai me, that's true. Well then," She noticed Fieminn, "is she a dancer as well? Got yurself a patner?"
"No." Mako said to her,"We just need some place to stay for a while is all."
"Ai well then! I'll be happy to call my friends down here immediatly, they'll be so happy."
"No just yet, wait til tomorrow for anything big ok?"
"Ai! Alright! Let's see yur dancing for these men then!" She joked.
"Alright if that's what you want, I'll do it." Mako joked back, only she would really do it.
"Ai, bless yur heart!" She ran back to the counter where she was needed. "Me husband should have yur room ready so just go on up!"
"Alright, Come on Minn." She said going from the darkness of that 'bar' up some steps where windows on the cieling made more than enough light, Mako made her way towards her room. He was indeed done, no dust was anywhere to be seen and the room almost seemed to glow. He was just unlocking the closet.
"We never used this room fur nuthin hoping you'd come back and grace us with a few dances. There ya go!" He said opening the closet. Then he left the room.

"I hate these places." Locaille thought to himself as his very small form sat straight against the far wall, near the end of the alleyway. His head was facing straight forward, and his round eyes looked almost dead. "Regardless, it will prove to be a nice enough place to spend the night."
He walked to the edge of the building's wall, crouched slightly, and with a small burst of darkness shot upwards into the air, landing softly on his feet on the roof.
"That shingle will do." He said and darkness grew forth, grasped a shingle and pulled it forth from its rest. He slid through the opening and into the building proper and onto one of the beams that supported the roof.
He noticed the room to be fairly large, what appeared to be nothing more than a simple pub, despite the rather large stage. "This will do nicely." He said pleasantly and curled into a small ball. His lifeless eyes didn't glow at all in the darkness.

Feiminn nodded nervously at the man, and give him a small smile. She really didn't know what else to do. Then she followed Mako into the pub, and stood behind her during the conversation, eyes nervously darting around the room, taking in the scene and the people sitting there. She lifted her left hand and fingered the long braid of black hair around her neck, fidgeting a little.
She followéd Mako up the stairs and into the room, her steps light and soundless. She couldn't help to feel nervous, she just had this feeling that the man from before had followed them, and the presence of so many humans made her mind ache of all the flashes of emotion she received.

Mako looked through in the closet that was just opened, she saw several dresses for several different dances, then she spotted her favorite. It was for the Dance of the Red Dragon. She liked the dance and adored the dress, it was one of the ones she rarely preformed however.
She practiced it a lot while she traveled and she practiced other dances too. She practiced ones like, the Dance of the Waves and the Weeping Maiden, they may not look like much when you first learn them without the dresses on but once you put on the right one, it's like magic.
"Look Minn, this is my favorite dress," Mako held up the red dress for the Dace of the Red Dragon, "I wonder if I should perform in it tonight." Mako stood day dreaming a bit.
"Ai me!" The bar lady shouted at a man who just came in, "You can't be in here, get out you dirty old man!"
The man laughed, "You haven't changed a bit have ya?"
"Welcome to Just Around the Corner. Oh before I forget Jenova has come to dance here tonight, might you stay around to see it?" She asked him.
"Yes I will, in fact I better be getting my friends also, they want to see that beauty performing as well. I don't supposed I could get a date with her?"
"Not on yur life." She said with a smile. "Well go get them if ya wants, but when you come in next time, take off yur shoes!"
"Will do." He said heading out again.
"Hey, is that who I think it is?" The man who knew Mako said to his wife.
"Yep, he's gone to fetch some friends he has. Go see if she wants to perform tonight.

Feiminn looked at the beautiful red dress and smiled at Mako.
"So, you're a dancer? That dress is so pretty!" she said softly.
She walked a bit closer to the closet and glanced at the other dresses. It seemed that the clothes mattered much for human dancers, and she couldn't really understand that. Unicorns had their own dances too, both for the uncorn form and human form, but in those dances the movements and the hair was of more importance than the clothes. Maybe that was because unicorns only used clothes in human form, and those clothes were usually more practical than pretty.
"You know, unicorns have their own dances too." she said with a small smile, remembering all the times she'd danced, both alone and with others, both in human and unicorn form.

"Really?" Mako asked her, "Do you want dance o stage also? All the begginers say they are frightened of the stage and almost never perform alone. I wouldn't say you look lke a beginner though." Mako smiled.
The man who greeted Mako at the door asked her if she wanted to dance that night. "Yes I do." Mako told him.
"Oh and a few men you have previously performed for is here, the one that commented that youwere a lovely dancer but were terribly flat chested. He's here."
"Oh, then I guess it' time to show off then, I'll hange soon and go down."
He nodded and headed downstair to tell his wife.

Feiminn frowned, a little unsure of what to do. She loved to dance, but the stage frightened her a little. She'd done performances before, that was a unicorn custom, but never on a stage, and only in front of her own herd.
"Erm, I don't know. Perhaps I'll do it." she said quietly. She wasn't sure if the humans would like the way unicorns dance, though. She would have to dance one of the dances that were meant to be danced in human form, and they were all a little bit mournful and ritualistic.
"Wonder if that thing from the forest has followed us." she muttered quietly.

"I dunno. I hope we don't run into it." She folded her hands together around the dress and sighed a bit.
"I think I'll go change now."
About twenty minutes later Mako had put on the dress and all it's attatchments. When she was just about done the Mistress of the inn came up. She spied Mako in one of the dressing rooms.
"Ah me! Mako, allow me to turn you into Jenova please." She said with an armful of make up and applicators.
"Alright." She said smiling at her.
It took another 10 minutes to do that. When it was all done with, Mako looked in the mirror, the makeup felt a bit heavy but her face moved the same as it always had.
She returned to the room where Fieminn was waiting. "I'm going down to perform now, would you like to join me downstairs?"
"Ah me! Come on." The mistress grabbed Mako's hand and lead her downstairs where a party of people sat waiting.
Mako was introduced as Jenova but the Mistress and Mako, now Jenova, walked onto the stage and raised her hands to make a few disks reflect the directed light, Mako was expressionless.

Feiminn sat down impateintly on a chair, and waited. And waited. She'd almost fallen asleep, when finally, Mako was ready. Her mouth fell open at the sight of Mako. She looked so different!
Feiminn was quite bored though, and very tired. She didn't want to meet any more humans, at least not that day, and felt quite uncomfortable.
"I think I'll stay up here, and get some sleep. I'm really tired." she said softly, and smiled slightly at Mako.
"You look great though."
She watched Mako being dragged downstairs, and finally everything was quiet again. She leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes, trying to relax a bit, but unable to chase away that nagging feeling of danger that dwelled in the back of her mind.

Mako kept her expressionless face as she moved in such a way that the flashes of light directly into the eyes at the right times made it look like the spectators were seeing a dragon's face surrounded in flames. The bells on her dress and several sash rung as she occasionally stomped her foot on the stage.
As Mako danced something didn't feel right to her but still she kept at it. When she was finally done and she left the stage, there were several men saying that they had never seen that dance so masterfully performed. They even said they could see the dragon turning around as Mako did slowly, as it was supposed to.
Everyone seemed to like the dance, even the mistress was smiling. "Ai me! I haven't seen that dance in a long time, beautiful. Do you want to do another dance or retire for the night."
Mako stood there thinking about it not sure what to do, she was tired and a bit sweaty too. A few more dancers went onto the stage and entertained. "I think I'll go to bed."
"Ai me, that's fine then." The mistress said as Mako went up the stairs and back into her room with a bowl of warm water and a rag.

"Yes. The Dance of the Dragon is very long indeed and takes a lot out of one. I should clean up and put away the dress."
Mako began untying the many sashes until there was only a short skirt attatched to a corest left. She then took that off and put on her old clothes. She felt a lot more comfortable without all that on. She then attached it all to the hanger and put it back in the closet and then closed the door.
Mako took the warm rag and swished it around in the bowl of water then made small circles starting on her forehead and removed the make up slowly. She then took her hair down from the braid it was in.
"Finally ready for bed." She said as she placed the bowl of red water out in the hallway. The rag was stained red and black. The gold flecks that were in the makeup however were still stuck to her face.
