Lore: Forgotten Enemies
Siren smiled weakly at Rai when Soran left, trying to reassure her.
"We'll get you help as soon as possible, for now just relax, I'm going to try a few things to help you here."
Siren's first move was to take the tie out of her hair, putting it on Rai's upper thigh and using her magical control of it to wind it around securely, so that it would slow the flow of blood into the leg and not spread any sort of blood poisoning through her body. Siren was familiar with magical fire and how dangerous it could be, and from the looks of the wound the magic user had been fairly powerful.
She poured out a small vial containing the extract from plants known to have healing properties onto the wound and rubbed it in as much as she could without causing further damage. It was probably a good thing that Rai couldn't feel it too much. She then pulled out a few feathers painfully, intending to seal the wound temporarily. She paused though, wondering if it would do more damage than good.

Soran stared numbly down at Mizuki and rested his hands on her back. It wasn't safe enough to raise Blade...she wanted to separate from her son? She would be forced to, because of this? He knew how much that would hurt her.
Tensho's words came back to him again.
"We have shown you what we are capable of, and if we choose to do so, we could end them."
What exactly were they up against? "Mizuki...I won't let anyone harm him," he said, but knew that was a guarantee he couldn't make. Something could have happened, just now. Just by leaving the house for a few minutes, they'd come under attack. And by someone powerful - if these people were merely her underlings, he wondered who this "Firecrost" character was. Or maybe it was that child with the white hair...
"Don't think about that now. We have another problem..." Soran said grimly, and explained to Mizuki what had just happened to Rai, and the need to retrieve the doctor.

Mizuki stared wideeyed at Soran as he explained to her the urgency of what had took place. She wanted to scream, kick, and maul these people.
"She's just a child!" she cried, startling Blade and she calmed down. Even the blob cringed at Mizuki's fury. Scowling at the dirt ground, Mizuki sorted her thoughts then pushed away to get on her feet. "Let's find this healer..." her voice was hard, and for the moment, struggling to control her emotions.

"The reason you were all attacked is apparently because they want me." Soran said as they ran. Mizuki worked to carry Blade comfortably in her arms, the blob on her shoulder. Mizuki thought about it, there were many mysteries about Soran she didn't even know yet. But Soran sounded clueless about this to her.
"Do you know why?" she asked him. She kept repeating in her head that whoever had business with one person, had no right to drag others in with it.

Soran shook his head as they turned down a crosstreet. "All I have is a name, which I don't recognize. And that they don't seem to be after my life. Tensho said that I should come willingly, tonight, to prevent further attacks," he said ambivalently, not sure what he thought of the proposition himself. He looked ocross at Mizuki to see her thoughts.

Soran looked at Mizuki worriedly. They were supposed to be living a peaceful life now...but this strange enemy had found them. Somehow he was certain this was not just some small-fry local riffraff trying to get revenge on him. This was something bigger, but why it involved him he could only guess. One thing he couldn't stand was that it was hurting Mizuki, Rai, and Siren also.
"There's one sure way to find out," he said quietly, stricken by the pain in Mizuki's eyes.

"But Soran," she started to protest. She didn't want him to turn himself into these people. But... what could they do? She watched him as they hurried down the streets, somehow the lack of light did not worry them that they may get lost.
"If they hurt you... I'll kill them." she said icily. Blade watched his mother intently as he bounced along in her arms.

Soran looked away thoughtfully, and was relieved when they came to the house where the healer was said to live. They climbed the steps and Soran knocked firmly on the door of a small city house. A few moments later, a woman who appeared to be in her twenties with dark brown hair pulled back in a braid and wearing a beige robe opened the door.
"Soran Nightblade?" she said in confusion, not looking pleased in the least to see him. Her expression immediately took on a condescendingly disgusted air, as when one deals with a delinquent or street punk.
"Marelda Corwin."
"What do you want?" she demanded warily.
"I want your help...a child is wounded," Soran said, straining to be polite.
The woman's expression grew harshly critical. "Don't tell me you harm children now as well?" she demanded fiercely.
"Will you just get your shoes on and come," he said coldly.
Marelda looked at Mizuki and then Soran, and then Mizuki again. "I'll come, for the child's sake. Certainly not for yours," she asserted, pulling slippers on. She looked at Mizuki suspiciously, as if anyone affiliated with Soran must be bad news. "Who are you?" she demanded as they began herding her back to the street and toward home.

The woman's tone of voice was nothing Mizuki wanted to deal with.
"Mizuki Ryoko." she said flatly. Blade whimpered softly in her arms, not liking the change in his mother. Mizuki looked down and her expression softened. She gently rocked Blade to soothe him, then shot a glare at the woman. "I believe haste is needed."
