Lore: Only A Little While

Post by Emora Deen »

Elena stood on the docks looking at the beautiful place that was Ongoreth. She was smiling, her eyes skimming over the beautiful waters. She marveled at the lovely dresses... no they weren't dresses... they were kimonos. They were lovely though.

She wondered where they would head from here and how they would afford land. She was sure that they would have to get jobs for that...

They walk down the dock and onto the land. Airen was so glad to have something stable under his feet again. He was hanging over the side of the ship for over half the trip.
"Well, here we are." He said with a sigh of relief. He looked around at everything. There were shops and merchants everywhere. Airen figured he could find a job easy enough. He looked around again and something caught his eye- a blacksmith shop. He looked at Elena and smiled. "This is a great place to raise a family." He held her affectionately and they made their way down the street.

Elena smiled. "Don't be talking about family when you haven't even married me yet," she told him, smiling softly as she looked around.

"Feeling better I take it?" she asked him a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Look at the women, I love there clothing!" she told him, elbowing as if to hint to something.

When they walked the happened to cross an alley. She was talking to him and laughing when a group of men and one woman stepped out of the alley. They pulled there daggers and such and spoke in a different language. "I don't understand..."

Airen steped back and pushed Elena behind him. Airen didn't know what was going on but they weren't going to ouch Ehlena without having to kill him first. He drew his sword, and watched them closely . " Y'all stay back." He warned. The group talked amongst themselves for a moment and then looked back at Airen and Elena. Airen was getting impatient. I gleam of fire blazed in his eyes as the group made there way towards them." Stay back I told you." Airen shouted in anger. He could have easily killed them with one blast of fire, but he didn't want to make a big deal out of something this small. He just wanted to settle down with Elena and have a nice, peaceful life. He stepped back again."Stay down. " he told Elena. The first guy lunged at Airen, but Airen easily parried the attack, countering it with a slash at the man's stomach. The man fell to the ground in a puddle of his own blood. The remaining for men then attacked Airen and to his surprise died just as easily as the first one. Airen turned back to face the woman, butshe had vanished. He turned back to Elena and helped her off the ground. "Come on." They made their way back to the main square.

Elena smiled softly. "It seems we can't stay out of trouble..." she told him. "We need to find us a place to stay, or live... which ever one comes first," she told him, trying to get around the fact that they just arrived and were already being attacked.

Airen turned to her and said" first we have to find work." They walked over to the blacksmith shop.
The blacksmith looked up at the couple and smiled." Can I help you?"
Airen lifted his head and smiled," Yes! We're new here and we're not familiar with the area. I came to see if you happen o have a job opening available and a place we can rest for a few nights."
The man looked over Airen then turned his gaze to Elena then back to Airen."I'm sure I can help y'all with something. Do you know anything about swordmaking?"
"Yes, I was a blacksmith back home. I've done it for a few years."
"Alright then. Lets see what you can do. I have a spare bedroom too."
Airen walked into the shop and showed the man what he could do. The man was impressed. He never knew that a man from Ighten could do such fine work. they introduced each other and then Airen got to work, while the old man showed Elena around the house.

Elena waved good bye to Airen as the old man went to show her around the house. She liked it. It was small and open. Most houses in Ongoreth were like that.

Elena liked the way the walls were and the way the doors looked like there were made from paper and the slid open. She really liked it.

"You have a beautiful home..." she told him.

Airen watched Elena as she went with the old man into the house. He couldn't believe thay had went so long without running into any trouble with demons.

" What the..." Airen fell to his knees as the ground shook beneath him.He slowly picks himself up anticipating another earthquake. He rushed in the house to check on Elena. When he gets inside the door there's another earthquake. Airen hits the floor. He quickly jumps up and begins shouting for Elena but there was no answer. He rushes back out into the streets and calls for her but she is nowhere to be found. Airen knows what has happened. She has been taken by some evil creatures who had saw him and her in Arken. Now the only question was what would he do?

Elena had been discussing things with the old man when it happened. It happened so fast that she didn't have time to yell for Aidren. The ground fell out bellow her feet and she saw the old man fall into the pit of darkness with her. Then as she fell, screaming, she saw the hole above her close... And everything went out... and all feeling left her body. It was to dark to tell whether she had fallen unconcious... To dark to tell whether her eyes had closed...

Later... much later when feeling returned ot her body she felt heat, extreme heat that burned at her skin. She groaned, rolling over onto her side and opening her eyes to see a wall of fire that roared up in front of her. She gasped and moved back, staring at the wall of fire warily.

She glanced around, finding the whole cavernous place glowing with fire. She seemed to be on an island of hot stone in the midst of lave and flames... and there was no way off...

In the distance she heard a plea for help, someone calling to her to help them... But, no where could she see a single person... Then she decided to look over the edge slightly on the side where there was no wall of fire.

There was the old man, holding on to a ledge that was hanging over the river of lava.

"Hold on!" Elena said and laid down on the rock island. She reached down, holding out her hand to the old man. "Here! Take my hand!"

The old man reached up and managed to grab onto her hand... Elena knew she probably didn't have the strength to pull him up... But, she could try.

Elena pulled slightly, looking over into the old man's eyes... She almost dropped him at what she saw. His eyes were glowing red, and he had a cruel smile on his lips...

He held on to her hand, even when she went to pull away... He pulled himself closer, and then jerked hard, sending her over the edge with him.

She screamed as she came closer and closer to the heat... and then stopped.

It was like she was lying on something invisble to her eyes... but it was holding her above the river of lava and there was nothing burning her.

She picked herself up hesitantly and looked around. She stopped once and the invisible force didn't break.

"Eeeelaaanaaa...." the voice was frightfully creepy.... and it drew out her name in a taunting manner.

"W-where am I?" she asked.

Nothing answered her, except for a slight chuckle from behind...

She turned around and there was Airen, standing right there before her, with glowing eyes.

"Your not Airen!"

"No," he said smoothly, a cruel smile playing on his handsome face. "But this is an image that you can handle better... I want to frighten you, but not frighten you to death. You have to stay alive long enough for Airen to see you..."

"Just to see me?"

Airen, well the fake Airen smiled cunningly. "See you with me."
