Lore: Journey to the Border

The Capital of Ighten. Thought to be the richest and most pure city in the world. Sadly, there are things in Ighten that are not rich and pure... Corruption has taken a very strong hold here as war brews...

Kyosuke watched on uncaringly as the events unfolded. However, his nature got the better of him when he found out a companion might have died. Before finding out that Kaze had revived, the samurai hopped off the horse and bolted in the direction the dark mage had traveled in after landing on his feet (for once). Even if he currently decided he wasn't in the best of terms with the woman, he couldn't leave her death unavenged. Soon after he took off, a blur surpassed him and he felt the aftermath of a malicious nature that can only belong to Vlad.

Kaze heard Kyosuke run off and realized Vlad had gone off. 'If they're doing what I think their doing...' she thought and moved to stop them, but they were already too far gone.

"They'll never get him. Even if they did they'll get killed... well... at least one of them will." she said. Vlad would possibly live if he was trying to go up against the Dark Mage.

Shinobu watched as Kyosuke disappeared after Vlad, she smiled more to herself. "Kyosuke can handle himself, he is very unpredictable..." She had to control the urge to ride off after him, but she didn't want to get in his way.

Kaze grimmaced at Shinobu's words. Kyosuke was still in harm's way. Even though the Dark Mage was gone now, he would still return, she knew that. She closed her eyes and sighed deeply.

"Sir Talon," she said in a shaky tone, "I know I have been assinged to this mission, so I will not ask to depart to save your lives. But I do ask that you leave me."

Vladimir's rage was controlling him as he blinked in and out of sight, warping short disances through the trees. He slowed as he abruptly felt a sickening feeling in his flesh. Teleporting two or three more times, he felt it growing worse each time, and finally stopped completely, standing somewhat confused next to a log in the middle of the forest. He looked around and saw nothing that could be causing it. Not daring another teleport, he walked on foot in a slow circle and looked for signs of the mage. About to give up the search and turn back toward the group, he heard sounds of movement from the left and turned with a dark sneer toward the sound.

Bursting into motion, he teleported to the source, ignoring the spasm it caused like a punch in his chest, and pinned the target to the ground before it knew what had come at it. He analyzed his catch critically. A young man, apparently some type of bandit, was trembling beneath his grip.

"You're not a Dark Mage," Vlad complained to the bandit, who was too frightened for words. The vampire looked at him unhappily, feeling unreasonably hungry; that didn't make sense...it had not be all that long since he'd eaten, and he hadn't used that much power.

"I hate to kiss on a first date, but this is a bit of an emergency," Vlad said, the apology in his voice only half-mocking. He struck the man across the head to knock him unconscious, then leaned over and consumed his prey.

Talon looked at the woman for a moment. "We aren't leaving unless you truely want to face this alone. I don't think you want to face it alone..." he said, his silver eyes peering at her. "We aren't afraid of a Dark Mage. I am not afraid of death."

Kyosuke soon caught up with the vampire as the man was feasting upon the bandit. He waited, having lost the trail of the dark mage. "Is this really the time for that Vladimir-san?" Kyosuke asked.

Vladimir raised his head and stood up, leaving his victim on the ground. "Just got the munchies," he tried at a smug tone, and failed, his voice distracted. He was somewhat startled that Kyosuke had been there, but his pensive expression was related to something else. "Did you see the black mage?" he asked without ornamenting the question with his usual 'wit'.

Kyosuke shook his head. "I was hoping you did," he said. "I can't move as fast as you and lost him. I'm guessing you lost him too?"

"Apparently," Vlad replied, feeling nauseous and dizzy. Something about the meal he'd eaten wasn't right, and the problem had nothing to do with morals. Instead of the elation he should have felt at recharging his power, which shouldn't have been so low in the first place, he felt only a sickening lightheadedness. But it didn't make sense...he was immune to disease. He was above such human frailties as indigestion, so what... "That damned monk must have done something," he growled.

Kyosuke blinked. "What's wrong Vlad?" he asked. "You don't look that good."

OOC: Does no one else notice that there is a staek-naked guy running around? Kami may need some clothes...

Ylia sat still on the white stallion as she watched the goings-on.
Wow, that was... complicated, she thought to herself. There seemed to be so many other stories connected to the few simple events that had just happened that it added exta pressure to each event - like a book that they had only been allowed to read the titles of the chapters from.

Ylia suddenly noticed the brave little blue fairy that was glowing like crazy. Her 3" body was latched onto the back of Talon's shoulder blade, and she was glaring suspiciously over the top of his shoulder.
She certainly is a brave little creature, Ylia decided about the fairy that was so opposite Ylia in nearly every way.

Ylia reached into the small pouch hanging loosely around her waist and retrieved a gold ribbon. Letting go of the stallion's reins, she tied her golden hip-length hair back securely and made a small bow. Regatherng the reinsin her hands, she was prepared to do whatever might be next.

OOC: Actually. he has a robe on. ^_^ so the charges of streaking can be dropped. lol =P oh my mind...

IC: Kaze sighed and slowly took her hands away from her face. It felt, refreshing, to fell the air on her face again. She smiled softly.

"Then I'll do whatever it takes to protect you all from him." she said, her eyes a golden rage of emotion as she struggled through her memories. She looked at her hands, then to Kami, then scanned the rest of the group, then finally resting her gaze on Talon. "I... don't remember much but... I guess my scarf is gone..?"

Talon smiled, glancing out of the corner of his eyes at Nickole. "It's been gone for a while," he told her. "By the way," Talon said getting back on his horse. "Nice face..." He grinned charmingly and kicked the horse lightly, taking off in the direction of Kyosuke and Vladimir.

If they continued they would arrive in Hepian soon.

Kaze flushed and Kami put a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Well, he's right you know." he said timidly. Kaze looked at the ground, blushing. She stared at what was left of her scarf and almost bent to pick it up, but she stopped and decided against it.

"I guess I should stop hiding now." she said. Kami grinned and nudged her.

"Everyone's going now..." he mentioned has he began to take off his clothes. Kaze said the word quickly and Kami was back as a horse. She picked up his cloak and bundled it away and everything else that had fallen and strapped them back on to him. She climbed on and cudged him forward after Talon.
