Life is like a Song

Post by Meagan »

I wrote this poem just a while ago when I was feeling very depressed and worthless and pitiful and BLAH! Everyone gets moods like that, right? I hope so, cause I want to feel at least a LITTLE but normal...

---------------------

I hear a song coming from somewhere.
Someone is playing the piano, and well.
But, why she plays when no one cares to hear
Is her secret she could never tell.

As I hear her playing, never missing a beat,
I notice her tears; they fall like rain.
I ask her why, but she keeps on playing.
Lost in her notes, drowning in her pain.

I hear her voice singing with her song.
Words she sings, though no one cares to hear.
Still, she keeps playing, without a care in the world.
She still plays her song, music to my ear.

She sings, “Life is like a song.
There are ups, downs, and wrong notes.
There are hard times and good.
There are things you’ll never know.

There are mistakes that you make,
But you fix them and all is well.
Now, my song ends sadly…
I’ve no more to tell.”

Tears stream down her face.
There is hopelessness in her eyes.
No one cared to hear her song.
Now, no one will hear her cries.

But, she still keeps playing.
Beauty in every measure.
Maybe someday she’ll learn
To turn her pain to pleasure.

I like this, especially the first two stanzas. But if her message is so optimistic, why does she cry?

It's one of those things that are so amazing to tell that even if it's good, you still cry. I should know, I do it too.

Great poetry!^^
