Havitharon's rage flared, making his eyes glow softly in the dim apartment. What did he have to say to get this person away from the child and Laurius? What could he say? Laurius had introduced him as a mere research assistant. How would a research assistant act in this situation? What was a research assistant on this world? To Oberin?
An uneasy thought turned his stomach.
Suddenly, his posture changed, defensive rather than offensive. He turned his gaze from Oberin to Laurius instead. "You swore to dine only with me while we remain here," he demanded, a possessive fire blazing through the words. "Is a new toy still not enough to keep you focused on me?"

Re: The Princess and the Blade
Laurius blinked and shook a look of disbelief off his face. Had the being lost his mind? He was sounding too much like Ren. Though, Ren would never be so openly upset. He'd mull about it—probably think the words instead of speak the words.
Oberin laughed, patting Laurius on the back before gripping the man's shoulder. "I see your charms haven't wained. So that's why you cover his debts." He leaned over, but didn't really whisper his next question. "Is he a good fuck?"
Laurius coughed, motioning to Lee. "Go. Back to your room," he said, but doubted very seriously he was saving the girl from anything she hadn't heard or seen already. Lee obeyed, skittering back to her room and closing the door.
Oberin stepped around Havitharon, looking at him in an entirely different light than before. This time he searched him over like a farmer inspecting a prized stallion. "Be careful. Laurius's lovers were usually a means to an end, and you're likely no different."
Laurius glowered at Oberin, but he wasn't wrong. He'd grown up in a brothel. He knew how to use sex to get what he needed, and he had traded his body like currency to afford expensive ingredients, competent lab partners, better robes, and tools. There was a reason he'd had a reputation for being willing to sleep with anything. He would suck and fuck around as trade for nearly anything but a grade. Those, he had earned. Until Oberin. And, Laurius had fought Oberin's advances until he ran out of rope.
But, he wasn't a student anymore, and he still had rope here.
"Havitharon is more than aware of our arrangement. His species just gets... territorial during his time of the month," Laurius replied.
Oberin arched a brow. "Oh really?" He eyed Havitharon again, biting his lip. "I still expect my payment tomorrow afternoon, dinner or not. If you can't get me it then, you will return Lee."
