Mizuki smiled softly as Rai skipped off. She sighed and went back to her food, with Blade still cooing in her lap. She went over what had happened so far in her head. Her memories upon the ship were clear, even the ones she'd rather forget. Red had been like a brother to her on the ship, he protected her even from Luc's advances, so did her captain. But her captain was usually cold and distant, his only feeling or emotion was mostly annoyance towards his crew but protection towards her. But even then warmth never really glinted in his eyes.

As Mizuki daydreamed about her old life, fond memories between her and Red popped up. She ended up laughing out loud slightly as she remembered Red dangling Luc over the edge of the ship for trying to feel her up.

Rai was grinning as the man began to pull of a number of magic tricks, causing things to disappear behind his hand and reappear in her pocket. Or pulling a coin out of her ear.

She noticed that her grilled cheese had been brought to the table so she turned and when to walk away. "Please don't go yet!" the man said, smiling fondly.

"But, I have to! My grilled cheese will get cold!" Rai grinned and skipped back to her seat.

Soran dug into his food after the now somewhat-jittery waitress brought all their orders and left them to their meals. He took his time eating, feeling at ease back in the environment he'd grown used to and, for the time, pleased with the company he was sharing it with. He thought maybe he should be wary of the commitment he was throwing himself into by choosing to reside with them, but this time his nerves would not outweigh his conviction. Under his colorless, stern expression, he was thrilled. Yawning unconsciously, he leaned back in his chair and rested his hands behind his head, watching the others finish eating.

(OOC: I'll be in Baltimore Friday and Saturday, so you guys can control Soran if you want to turn in for the night and move on to the next day. You know where he likes to sleep ^_~ (wait, I guess he's got two favorite places now *grins at Mizuki*))

OOC: -Mizuki blushes but grins back- hahaha, ok... I promise I wont rape him....-crosses fingers behind her back-

It was when Blade started yawning and snuggling into her to sleep, did Mizuki decide she was finished and get up from the table. "Excuse me." she said nodding to them all. She made her way up to the rooms they had rented and entered one. When she laid Blade down to sleep on one of the beds she turned around to fine Red.

" 'Scuse me if I'm inturding." he apologize and Mizuki just laughed softly.

"No, you're not." she told him and offered him a seat in a chair next to the bed. When he took it she sat down gently on the bed. "I can't believe you're alive." she said sincerly.

"Neither can I." he smirk as they shared a private joke. For a while they sat silently when Mizuki opened her mouth.

"We both--"

"No, not tonight." Red interupted. "You're tired from your journey, I'll come for you tomorrow for the entire tale." Mizuki nodded smiling at him. "But first, who's the elf?" he said, smiling sheepishly. Mizuki laughed.

"A friend, and no he wouldn't be interested." she laughed at Red's small, fake pout.

OOC: yea, ended it there for tonight. didn't want to get too into it while Soran wasn't here. haha, but can anyone guess what Red is?=P

Rai yawned and got up from the table to follow after Mizuki and Soran and them. She glanced over and noticed the man still sitting at the table drinking his ale away.

Rai yawned again, rubbing her eyes as she ran to catch up to Soran, hugging his leg as he walked.

Soran nodded goodnight to Siren and walked with Rai towards his room, resting one hand casually on her head as she followed alongside him. He glanced sideways for a moment as they passed the open door to Mizuki's room and he saw her sitting on the bad, conversing with the man from earlier who sat across from her. He displayed no reaction and unlocked the door directly across from Mizuki's, opening it and stepping in. "Staying in here?" he asked Rai casually as he removed his coat and dropped it over the back of a chair.

Rai looked at him and yawned, shrugging tiredly as if she was about to fall a sleep standing up. "I don't..." She yawned again, this time longer. "...know..." Long strands of curly blondish hair fell in front of her sparkling blue gray eyes.

Soran's lips shifted upward slightly at Rai's half-conscious indecisiveness. "Well, Mizuki seems occupied, and Siren might be patronizing the bar for a while, so I suppose you'll have to endure the night with me," he said, lightly sarcastic, and closed the door. "You can take the bed," he added, going into the washroom and splashing water from a basin onto his face.

(OOC) Yes, I'm horribly procrastinating work right now. Don't tell Kyosuke or he'll ban me.

OOC: I promise!

IC: Rai nodded and walked to the bed, climbing up onto it and pulled the covers up so she could climb under them. She nocked her pillow down and she tried to reach down and get it, tiredly slipping and falling out of bed, landing on the pillow and closing her eyes, to lazy to get up and move back onto the bed.

Soran returned from the washroom to find Rai already knocked out on the carpeted floor. He took the other pillow off the bed, lay down next to her, and pulled the blanket down over them, no longer discomfited by the concept of being close to Rai, or the others, while he slept. He shifted onto his side facing her, and eventually closed his eyes and fell into his usual, dreamless sleep.

Siren sat at the table a while longer as the waitress cleared the dishes. She had her arms splayed over the back of the chair and her wings hanging lazily, yet prominantly behind her. She almost felt insulted that no one had been staring and conversing about her, and by now her presence wasn't new anymore.

She sighed somewhat dissapointedly, but conceeded that this was Soran's scene to show off in, not hers. A crack of thunder preceeded the light sound of rain splashing on the sidewalk outside, and Siren knew she wouldn't be staying out there that night, so she got up, without ordering any alcohol, and made her way upstairs.

She hadn't been in the rooms yet, so she wandered around, looking for the room numbers.

"He's adorable." Red commented of the sleeping babe in the bed. Mizuki turned and stroked Blade's cheek lovingly.

"I love him so much." Mizuki replied, a dreamy expression over her face. Red watched her for a minute the grabbed her hand.

"Who's the father? If it's that blasted Luc I'll---"

"No. No, Luc's not the father. Luc's dead anyway." Red looked at her, shocked. In the begining Mizuki would never have anything ill said or any harm come in Luc's way, and now she was saying she killed him?

"You must tell me, everything... when you can." Mizuki nodded. They had already agreed to not speak of the past at all tonight, so she told him she'd tell him everything in the morning. "I've wasted enough of your time." Red kissed Mizuki's forehead like a loving brother and stood up. "I will see you in the morning, kid>" Red winked, he had used his old nickname for her, and left the room closing the door softly behinde him. Sighing, Mizuki kicked off her boots and layed down next to her son.

They were back where it had all begun. Where she had met Soran and ran into Luc for the first, and final time in years. And nothing felt like it would go wrong this time...

Rai gasped and woke up as lighting flashed and loud thunder shook the inn. It was late and everything was really dark and she couldn't see anything. She rubbed her eyes to try and see a little more, but everything was black.

She froze as she heard a creek. It was coming from under the bed she was lying beside. Rai inched away from the bed, bumping into Soran. She heard a bump, and then scratching.

She couldn't see anything! What if it was a monster that liked to be under the bed? Lighting flashed again and even louder thunder rumbled.

Rai yelped and roled completely over Soran and onto his other side away from the bed.

Soran woke with a start as Rai pounced on him, resisting a subtle instinct to strike out at whatever had woken him as he saw Rai's stricken eyes. He scanned the room instantly for signs of an enemy, but nothing was there. "What's wrong?" he whispered to Rai, still watching and listening for some sign of danger.

Rai hugged Soran's arm and looked towards the bed. "Something is under the bed," she whispered to him. "I don't know what it is, but its scratching and making thuding noises. I think its a monster..."

In truth it was only a small mouse, but Rai couldn't see it and what she couldn't see scared her. Besides, she had always been afraid of things that lived under the bed and in her closet.
