Reining in the Centuar

This is the forest that covers most of Ighten in dense and thick trees. It is the oldest forest in Heirot, since most of the Forests in Arken have been destroyed. It is well known as a haunted forest where ghosts and demons reside. In the forest are many villages. The villagers will tell you tales of trees that eat people, gaint spiders, and dragon lairs.

Valkyrie walked through the water up to the centaur, regarding him curiously. She looked at the water as well, wondering what it was that he was looking for.

something goldish and gleaming sits at the bottom of the stream. Karne pawned at it and picked it up.

Valkyrie sniffed curiously at the object in Karne's hand, and was a bit alarmed when she realized it was a nugget of gold. How interesting, she thought. It would be useful if she ran upon any human villages in her travels, but it was rightfully Karne's. Valkyrie gave the centaur a friendly whicker and walked a little bit from him, sniffing at the water again before drinking.

Valkyrie glanced towards the centaur, seeing his fascination. She laughed to herself silently, then stepped out of the water. It had been nice to have seen another being for a while, but now it was time to move on. The unicorn shook the water off her flanks with a shake, glanced towards Karne, then started off at a soft trot that didn't jarr her too much. Valkyrie wasn't exactly sure where she was going, but she wanted to find a nice place to sleep for the night. She would more than likely end up in a thicket, and that was fine with her, but sometimes she missed the comfort of a herd. Valkyrie wondered about whether the centaur had a herd, but pushed the thought away to focus on her newly began travel.

Karne looked a little sad to see the unicorn go. he tried to call her but his noise was lost. Karne snorted and followed his trail back to his little hidden cave.

Valkyrie soon found a trail was that was worn down; she decided it may be fruitful to travel along it for a while. It would be easier than marching through the brush. She slowed to a walk, and walked on the trail. Valkryie saw some of the tracks were horses' hooves; she suspected it belonged to the animals that the humans used for travel. Soon, though, Valkyrie stumbled upon the end of the trail - a smallish cave. She walked inside, and sniffed around. The scent was precisely the same as Karne's. Hmm, Valkyrie thought.

Valkyrie heard the soft tinkling of metal; there was someone else in the cave. Valkyrie was worried for a moment, but realized the scent was just Karne's. She let out a soft whicker in greeting, curious as to whether he would hear her.

Karne looked at her and smiled, showing her a bed of moss. He wandered around.

Valkyrie walked up to the centaur, nudging him with her head in a friendly manner before going towards the bed of moss Karne had pointed out to her. The unicorn laid down in it without much hesitation; her leg had began irratating her and was painful to stand on. Valkyrie streched it out in front of her, examining it throughly before laying her head down.

Valkyrie was glad that she had found a place to rest for the night, but a part of her worried that she would become too attached to the mute centaur whom had been kind enough to give her refuge. For a wanderer like her, even the most friendly relationship would eventually become painful. I will leave at first light, she decided. Valkyrie also came to the conclusion that she would find a human village to spend the next night in, so that she may not be so lonely.

As she watched the black centaur, though, she wondered if he had the same problem as her with lonliness. Would she able to leave Karne to wake up on his own? Of course he would forget about her soon enough, but for some reason, Valkyrie felt almost responsible for him, as if he was a young child who needed guidance. It was her nature, Valkyrie supposed, that made her have such thoughts. The unicorn would cross that bridge when she came to it, she decided.

Karne Laid down near the entrance of his cave and looked outside. He looked back at Valkyrie and smiled, a nice fluttery feeling in his chest.

Valkyrie just watched the centaur for a moment. She was very tired, and felt like sleeping... it was the evening after all, wasn't it? Valkyrie closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

Valkyrie stirred before the sun rose over the horizon. She stood up slowly, making sure not to damage her leg to much as she did so. Karne was still sleeping. Good, Valkyrie thought to herself, That makes this easier. She walked towards the entrance of the cave, pausing when she was next to the centaur. It was a shame, really, to have to leave this poor creature alone. But it was necesscary, she reminded herself. She couldn't become attached...

She left the cave before she changed her mind, going as quickly as possible. Soon enough, she began to pick up the smells and sounds of the human village ahead. She stopped, and took a moment to change into her human form. However, the energy required made her tired, and Valkyrie decided to rest for a moment before moving onwards.
