Lost

This is the Border that most of the people in Arken want to cross. People in Ighten are not allowed to cross it unless under orders by the Queen herself. The mountain is always covered in snow.

"It leads to a small town. Should be less than a day's walk. During the daytime, it should be safe," Caleb said, his stomach twisting at the thought of what could happen to her if she was found by bandits in her current condition. Even if she said she was fine, he was sure her wing must be hurting her. "The innkeep, Thern, owes me a favor. Drop my name and he'll put you up for free."

Another, stronger shudder wrenched through him, making him gasp. He was out of time. He pulled back from her embrace, distancing himself from her. "I need to go," he told her stiffly.

Celeste nodded slowly and stood up. "will I see you again?" she asked softly, She hoped that maybe he'd travel with later, but she felt it wouldn't happen.

"Maybe," Caleb said. The soft orange on the horizon warned that the sun was about to rise. He suddenly remembered to ask, "What is your name?"

"Celeste" She replied simply "Until we meet again" She bowed her head and followed Caleb's instructions. She walked slowly trying to keep from hurting her wing or back.

Caleb nodded, not trusting himself to say any more. He got up to his feet and gave her a backward glance before walking swiftly and decisively away from her. He told himself he couldn't have that kind of relationship with someone, not as he was now. His muscles burned feverishly as he turned around a corner and was out of her sight. He immediately leaned against a blackened stone wall for support and sagged to his knees breathlessly. He'd held off the change as long as he could. He looked dizzily down at his hands as they became enveloped in black energy. A few moments later, when his vision came back, he was crouched on four tiny feet with his tail curled up over his head.

Celeste paused by the tree she had been sleeping in. She stopped before grabbing her pack and looked at the panther that had attacked her. It's body was thin and scraggly looking, she didn't blame it for attacking, It was starved and dying. "Rest in Peace, Mighty Hunter" she whispered softly.

Caleb sat and thought for a minute about the game plan for the day. He'd normally stow away on some cart or wagon headed for another town, but this city was destroyed. There would be no merchants through this place, any more. He stiffened as he realized he would have to go to the nearest town, the same way as Celeste. He told himself it would be fine and made his way to the edge of town. The ground posed too many dangers, so he stuck to the trees, gliding/climbing his way along the forested path.

It drove him nuts to be this small. He was not accustomed to being tiny nor delicate, and it was easy to forget how simple it was to make a fatal mistake in this small body. The most recent inconvenience of his enchantment was that there would be no good way to speak with Celeste again at the new town. How could he explain abandoning her to travel alone, while injured, when he was bound for the exact same place? He told himself it didn't matter, and that it wouldn't be practical to befriend people with this curse in place anyway.

Celeste stood back up and took a breath she started south. She wondered were Caleb was heading and if he was okay, she shook her head she most likely would never see him again. She sighed and walked slowly hoping he would catch up, or something.

In a village south of the ruins of Hepian, Argent sat in a darkened corner of a run-down inn, his hood keeping his face obscured. He didn't seem to notice the whispers and stares of the other customers, instead more irratated by the fact the chair he sat in was a bit wobbly. Argent usually tried to stay far from such places, preferring to take shelter amongst the trees, despite the cold. But today... well, the inn had been needed. He cursed under his breath. More than likely, Argent would have to stay here for the night. He didn't feel like travelling while his head felt like it was going to explode. And so, for tonight, the Dark Elf would be immobile.

Sometime near evening a ruffled angel came in. Celeste glanced around hoping this was where Caleb had told her to go. she looked really bad with the blood on her tunic, and her wing in a make-shift splint. The others in the inn turned their attention to her. Celeste looked away not wishing to let anyone see her pained face.

Argent was staring at the grooves and indentions in the wood until the sharp scent of blood filled the air. He looked up immeaditly to see a girl, with wings, whom was bleeding. The liquid had soaked through her tunic, and the dark red splotches covered the back of it.

"How... interesting," Argent murmured to himself. This didn't precisely happen every day, now, did it? He wondered how the girl had gotten wounded in the first place, but he didn't linger upon it long.

Celeste hid as much of her pain as she could before walking up to the Innkeeper, and speaking. "Sir, May I ask to stay here for the night?" The Innkeeper, looked at her and made a gruff face, he was studying her appearance.

"You're torn up" He murmured "You some type of warrior, Or are you a thief?"

"Yes, I'm a Paladin, A Holy Knight" Celeste replied. she hoped he wouldn't pry any more than he had.

"Hmm, who sends you here?" He was wary of this so-called Paladin and didn't want to be cheated.

"Kind Sir, a Man by the name Caleb sent me, he said you owed him" The Innkeeper's eyes widened at the name, so Celeste didn't continue.

"Huh," Argent grunted to himself. He was very interested now. The girl was a warrior, not to mention the wings. He decided at that moment to stand and walk over to the inn keeper in order to, conviently, get his room at the same time. Perhaps Argent would learn more about this intriuging creature...

Celeste quickly told the Innkeeper something and he reluctantly handed her a key. Celeste bowed her head and headed upstairs, she would need help once again to clean her wounds and unfortunately Caleb wasn't with her. She sat on the bed leaving the door unlocked and slightly open. She hummed a light fluttering song to herself and softly began singing.

"Don't leave me, sky chord, you would’ve stayed here back then.I’ve already lost you, sky chord, this isn’t anyone's fault, however . . ." Celeste sung softly.
