Lost

This is the Border that most of the people in Arken want to cross. People in Ighten are not allowed to cross it unless under orders by the Queen herself. The mountain is always covered in snow.

Lost

Post by Emora Deen »

Stephan frowned as he looked at the large trees hanging over his head. He saw the crevices in the granite. Stones, trees, snow… He wasn’t used trees, since the desert was everything he knew. He pulled the brown coat closer around him as a cold wind threatened to blow the hood of. His yellow eyes peered out around, his brow knotting in frustration. “I’m lost,” he muttered.

Well, that wasn’t saying much since Stephan had been lost since he left the desert. Funny, how he could find his way around in a place that changed with the wind, and didn’t have a single landmark to go by for hundreds of miles, but here he was lost.

It was a little agitating if you asked him.

Celeste walked battered by the wind, to gusty to fly, and cold enough to freeze blood. She kept moving, making the cold and training, to keep her going. Celeste took shelter from a really bad gust behind a tree.

"great" Celeste mumbled, wrapping her wings a little tighter around her body "if it gets any colder, I'll freeze to death"

Stephan knew a few things about survival, finding shelter seemed like one good thing to start with. Only problem was their didn't seem to be any obvious places to take shelter. He wonderd down the not-so-obvious path, in the not-so-wonderful cold. He narrowed his eyes as he passed a cluster of trees, thinking he might have heard somethng, he paused. He was motionless for a moment, the wind whipping the cloth of his coat. He tilted his head slightly to the side, towards where he thought he heard the sound over the roar of wind...

He saw a clustr of trees opposite the ones he had heard the noise, and he noted how they formed a circle around what seemed to be a pile of brush. He smirked, heading to that cluster and drawing one of the short swords on his back, and he started hacking away until he had cleared the area and pild the brush between the gaps where the trees did not connect, leaving one way to enter. He then went to a tree opposite the opening and, pulling his coat around him, sat down against it. It wasn't as cold now that he was sheltered from the wind, and he wondered how long it would take for who ever it was to attack him, or wonder out of hiding.

Celeste jumped at the strange noise, and drew a feather from her wing. Holding her feather in front of her she walked towards the noise.
"Hello?!?" She called, standing in a defensive stance.

Stephan watched calmly, apparently able to see the girl, but she was unable to see him. His yellow eyes watched with predatory accuracy as she seemingly threatened air with a feather. She had wings, and it puzzeled the young Raith, for he had never seen someone with wings.

"How long are you going to stand out in the open, yelling your positon away? Something might decide to make you a snack," he told him over the roar of wind and snow.

"Ah!" Celeste squealed and fell into the the snow, spread eagle style. Celeste sat up shivering, looking around for the source of the voice. upon seeing nothing she stood back up and shook the snow off her wings before rapping her wings around her shoulders.

Stephan frowned, wondering if she were blind, or maybe just could not see well in the snow. "Walk forward," he told her. He could easily kill her and she'd never be the wiser, especially if she couldn't pick him out from where he sat, which was right in front of the opening to his make-shift shelter.

"Just keep walking forward." He slid the sword down along his thigh, hiding it down where he could get to it encase her innocence was just and act.

Celeste followed the voice's command. she shivered the muscles of her wings just in case she had to fly off, but the voice didn't sound threatening or intimidating. A feeling of slight calm settled her mind.

"I have no weapon, save for my feathers" Celeste called "please, I mean no harm"

"Feathers?" Stephan asked skeptically. He tilted his head, his yellow eyes looking at her wings. As an assassin, he hardly viewed feathers as a dangerous weapon. "I am armed, but if you mean me no harm, well... then I mean you none."

"thank you" Celeste bowed. she then looked at Stephan and smiled.

"and yes, my feathers are quite dangerous, for i can anchor my spells with them" Celeste explained.

Stephan looed at the feather in her hand, still unable to beleive it was very dangerous, but he wasn't going to ask her to prove it. "Better sit and bundle up until this storm passes over," he told her gently, tilting his head down and closing his eyes. He'd rest them, but he cuold still be aware of her by listening.

Celeste sat down near Stephan, but far enough away so she could escape if needed.
"so, Umm, what are you doing here?" she asked softly.

Stephan's yellow eyes cut towards her at her question, and he shifted the brown fabric in front of his face up a little more over his nose. "I'm looking for a friend," he replied, his voice deep and smooth with a hint of an Arken accent. Most people in Ighten would run at the sound or hint of an Arken in their area. Either that or pick a fight, but he wasn't used to being in Ighten and he wasn't used to Ighten hospitality. He gave no more details about his venture than that, for Arken's rarely ever opened up to strangers. "And what are you doing out in such weather?"

It was times like these that he missed the heat of the desert, the sand. Sand was more more comfortable to sit in than hard cold wet earth.

"I'm a wandering Paladen . . .I have no true home" Celeste murmured she closed her eyes and wrapped her wings around her tighter "as a Paladen I will help you find your friend".

Stephan smirked behind the cloth over his face. "I don't need help," he told her tilting his head in her direction, thinking he might have seemed rude. "But, thank you for your offer."

It wasn't that he didn't need help, it was the fact that he wasn't used to people offering. In his home to accept help was to accept weakness, and he was never to be weak. Then again, this stubborn mentaility was exactly the reason he was lost. He should have asked directions a few miles back and maybe he'd be sitting in an inn right now and not the middle of... wherever it was that he was sitting.

He could even hear his stomach growl over the howl of wind. "Do you happen to know if there is an inn or town near by?" he made himself ask, adjusting the gloves on his hand.
