The hellhound dragged Tenele behind a wide stone chimney, visible to the action, where she wouldn't roll off the roof. The hound cocked its head at the injured girl skeptically, then ran its coarse tongue across her face to see if she'd wake up.
Vlad should have been able to stop Lothos's attack, but a certain fraction of his attention was required to keep command over his hellhound, just enough that he was a split second too slow to dodge. He jerked as Lothos's claws dove straight through him, five spearlike points sticking out of his chest. It burned like hell, but it couldn't kill him. Unfortunately, it did make him lose his grip on the katana. Vlad tore forward, away from the claws, and whirled to face Lothos, glancing down for the weapon he'd dropped. He didn't realize that it was hovering in the air just behind his back, controlled by Lothos's telepathy.

Tenele groaned, blinking her eyes open. All she saw was dizzy blurs for a moment and then the glowing eyes of Vlad's hellhound. She gasped, not expecting it to be there and went to move away quickly. The blood lost made regret after that the quick movments. She felt her neck and winced, looking down at the blood that covered her chest and stained her gown. Her blood.
She peered around behind the chimney, and grew fearful at the sight of the katana facing Vlad's back. She glanced back at the hellhound, having the urge to pet him. She didn't know how that would go over with him so she kept her hands to herself. "Thanks," she said groggily, collecting her focus. Well, as much of it as she had left.
She pulled herself up using the chimney and used it to steady herself. "Gods give me the strength." She stumbled forward. "Give me the sight. Steady my hand. Make it fly true." She grabbed the katana and before Lothos could react she through it in his direction. It wizzed by Vlad's head, narrowly missing slicing off his ear. It shoved through Lothos's neck, his eyes going wide with surprise. "Damn it..." she muttered as her knees buckled and she fell to the roof. "I missed." She had been aiming for between his eyes. She let her weak form go still and limp against the cold roof tile.
Lothos gurgled on his own blood, reaching to pull the katana from his neck. He couldn't stand it anymore. He just couldn't take her interfering. Everytime he turned around, just when he was close to victory there she was. Her annoying comebacks and quick degrading remarks. He couldn't stand it any longer. He ported to stand over her, angling the katana down towards her chest, holding it up and ready to thurst downwards.
She laid there, a hand resting gently across her abdomen and the other next to her face. Silver hair spread out across the tile roof. Green eyes stared fearlessly at him, tired and bored. She didn't care what happened either way. She wasn't scared of him. She was too tired to be scared of anything at the moment. She could feel her life blood draining out from the deep wounds in her neck, the ones he had caused. She cursed him in a faint whisper, though his keen hearing could pick it up.
It was the last straw. He thrusted downwards.

Vlad stared at the blade where it had stuck in the man's throat, then back at Tenele, then at the hound. His glare made the hellhound slink its tail between its massive legs, lowering its head defensively. Vlad didn't have to tell the creature it had failed to keep her safe. The next thing he knew, Lothos had appeared above her, ready to run her through with the sword.
Vlad smirked. "Oh no, I'm afraid not," he said darkly, appearing in a crouch near the vampire's knees and surging upward with his claws into Lothos's chest. The impact of the strike blew his attack wide and sent him flying up and back through the air to land on his shoulders a few feet away. The body barely had time to slide to a stop before Vlad was upon him again, shredding his body into something unrecognizable. Each slice grew deeper than the last, demonstrating the true power of the one inflicting them. Vlad was superhuman, supervampire. He knew how to inflict pain, and he did now as Lothos's body desperately tried to reknit itself beneath his hands.
When that got boring, he caught Lothos's jaw with an iron grip and crushed it, like you crushed an egg, his eyes burning hate like fire.

Lothos paniced when his healing got slower and slower due to the lack of blood to the point where he didn't think he was healing at all. This was bad, this was very bad. He struggled to get away, but couldn't. His face mangled, his body in disreapair it got to the point where he didn't have the arms or legs to move. He laid shreaded and feeling every inch of pain that coarsed through his body.
Tenele laid on the roof, having forced herself on her side and watching the carnage that Vlad was inflicting. Her eyes grew weary again and closed. She was tired and wanted to rest. So sleepy...
No, she couldn't rest.
She had to make sure he would be okay.
She had to protect Vlad...
He needed blood. More blood. His eyes darted back and forth to Tenele then Vlad. He couldn't get away. He couldn't reach her. He needed blood. Blood. It was the only thing that filled his mind. He need for that blood. A thirst beyond anything. Beyond sanity.

Vlad's demonic fury eventually began to be sated by the carnage underneath him. Lothos's blood was soaked into nearly every inch of the front of Vlad's clothes, like someone had poured a giant pitched of pomegranate juice down his body. That blood was Lothos's mixed with Tenele's...a thought that disgusted him beyond words. He wanted Lothos to lose every drop, right here on the roof. Behind them, the first rays of morning light were stretching across the horizon. In another minute or two, Lothos would have a pleasant surprise.
Vlad might have chosen to go on maiming his enemy until that time came, but instead he turned toward Tenele, indicating that the hellhound should guard Lothos. Vlad knelt next to her and propped her up in his arms, pressing a hand against the weak pulse that was bleeding in her neck to block the wound. Her skin was cold, so cold. "Hold on. I'll bring you to the infirmary," Vlad said, drawing her body in against him as he knelt beside her.

Vlad slowly grinned. Her answer filled him with pride. "As you wish," he said, cradling her against him and leaning back against the chimney. His arms wrapped close around her skin and he pressed his cheek to her hair. "My precious lady," he almost whispered.
It had begun. Slowly, the light crept across the roof, and it sizzled and popped as it reached Lothos's feet, burning slowly up his ankles.

Tenele leaned against him with her full weight, too tired to devide it up. She was light enough, it wouldn't bother him at all. Her eyes focused on Lothos, whose body laid a ways away and watched as his skin began to burn. At first he made no noise, but as the light traveled further you could hear the small grunts of discomfort. The further it got the louder he grunted and until it became unmistakeably clear that he was screaming through a shreaded jaw.
Tenele's hand clutched Vlad's arm that was holding her tightly. The sun rise was glorious. Liquid fire rising higher into the air, scortching the enemy. Burning him until he the first burn spots became ash and the breeze began to blew him away. He scream even as his face burned away. She swore she could hear him screaming even as the wind carried the last of his ashes.
She let out a sigh, her head dropping slowly. She hadn't the strength to stay awake any longer. She needed to sleep now. She'd sleep. Her hand slipped from Vlad's arm.

Vlad lifted Tenele's slender frame, getting to his feet. He nodded to the hellhound, which knew what to do. It took a deep breath, and then blew. Its breath was like a storm, tearing across the roof and all around them. The ashes of Lothos's body flew up in the breeze and blew off in every direction, scattered beyond repair forever.
Vlad called forth the return portal, and the beast paused a moment before leaping through, back to its place in hell. Then Vlad ported them both down to the infirmary. Doctors there were standing by in case of an emergency; Sinead had ordered them to do so, sensing a fight close at hand.
They stepped back in alarm as Vlad appeared, looking like an apparition, pale and covered with blood. What forced them to draw closer was Tenele. Vlad walked through them, parting the group of nurses and doctors like water, and lay the unconscious maiden onto a cot. No one dared make a joke about how often the two of them had been in here, or how Tenele was lying in her 'usual' cot, but nearly all of them were thinking it. After he'd set her down, Vlad stepped back and crossed his arms, watching seriously as they went about their work. A blood transfusion was set up immediately, hooked to a tube in her arm. Nurses brought hot, we towels to try and give her body more warmth, and they bent and flexed her legs to promote circulation and encourage her heart to continue to beat.

Hours passed and Tenele slept soundly, deeply. Driven into a part of unconsciousness that she had never been before. Slowly she pulled herself out of it, her eyes fluttering open and glancing around. Blinking slowly, trying not to fall back a sleep, she let her vision clear.
She made a soft noise as she felt where a bandage had been wrapped around her small neck to keep it from bleeding. Her shoulder had been stitched up where Lothos's claws had tore through it.
She glanced around quickly, wondering if Vlad was somewhere around like he usually always was... Or was he mad at her still and decided not to stick around? She sat up, gasping at the sudden rush to her head and slowly she fell back to the pillow.

Vlad was sitting in a chair next to the head of the bed, watching her with undead stillness. He straightened up slightly as she rose and collapsed back into the bed; more movement than he'd made in hours. "Lie still," he said quietly, brushing the back of a finger against her cheek to her jawbone. He stopped when he reached her bandaged neck, and withdrew his hand.

Tenele looked around the room and groaned. "Not this place again," she muttered, turning her head towards him. "I think they should just carve my name into this bed..."
Her eyes roamed over his face and she smiled for a moment. "Did I dream it? Is he really dead?" she asked him. She chuckled lightly. "Heh, he wasn't so tough with out that shiney weapon of his..." She was trying to lighten to mood, but didn't know what Vlad was thinking or feeling at the moment. "Hey, smile..."

"Yeah, he won't be back," Vlad said darkly. It was obvious from his manner that his anger toward Lothos hadn't waned, despite the fate they'd delivered to him. He wasn't one to dwell, but watching Tenele lie there on the brink of death for so many hours had special effects on him. Now she woke and spoke to him so casually...did she even realize how close she'd come?
"You are a fearless woman," he said, half praise and half criticism. "I would have forbidden you to fight Lothos alone. There really is no controlling you." His frustrated tone edged into amusement. "I suppose I shall have to keep you closeby." He gave her the smile now that she'd requested, his fangs catching the candlelight in the room.

Tenele smiled softly, it was clear how weary she was from the expression on her face. She shifted her head to the side, closing her eyes and resting them for the moment. "You are right, there is no controlling me. I'm to hard-headed and stubborn. Then, again so are you. So, neither one of us has any room to talk... Closeby would be nice."
"I hadn't planned on fighting him. I was just trying to get the weapon back to the palace for safe-keeping. Just as long as he didn't have it in his possession. I didn't count on him following me... I guess I didn't even consider it."

Vlad leaned back in the chair and crossed his hands behind his head. He wasn't going to scold Tenele for not thinking more about the risks of her actions. He sort of forced her into it, though he wasn't planning to admit that to her. "Doc says to drink that," he said, gesturing with his chin to a cup full of sugary vitamin water sitting on the table next to her. "Need help sitting up?"
