Rai screamed out of sheer startled fright when she felt the power of magic surround her. She clutched at her father tighter. Magic swirled around her and she felt everything going very dark for a moment. She paniced and wiggled free of Soran's arms, dropping to the ground. She watched her hands shift and change, growing larger as black smoke swirled round and round her skin. The sound of tearing as her growing body ripped through her childs clothing. Her hair grew longer and turned a brighter shade of blond and her blue-gray eyes became more blue. Finally when it was all said and done a young teenage girl was left in her place, huddled on the dirty ground in shredded clothing. She was panting, staring at her hands. Slowly she looked herself over, wrapping her arms around her form when she realized that she was hardly decent.
A beautiful glowing face looked up at Soran in shock, unable to form words at the moment.

Noventia laughed even though she was pinned to the ground by Blade. "She's mine now!" She managed once again to push off Blade and Noventia sprang forward to scooped up the bewildered child. Blade sprang after her, using his wings to give him a faster edge to his flight after the witch. He managed to grab Noventia just as she grabbed Rai's arm.
But Noventia stilled. She had forgotten one important fact about healing light magic when it got stronger... It had the potential power to give back life. Her hand was stuck on Rai's arm and she felt the seering pain of her long stilled blood beginning to flow again. Life and color coming back to her flesh, and the sickening feeling of the black magic leaving her body.
"No...no...NO!" she screamed as Blade and the other watched in fearful awe.

The strength in her older form gave to her powers seemed to make it uncontrolable. She hadn't even meant to heal the woman and at the moment she couldn't stop. She tried to pull away, her sixteen year old form jerking. She didn't want to heal the woman. She was death... If healing minor wounds harmed her when she was a child, what would healing death do?
Blood leaked from the corner of Rai's pretty eyes, like tears. She tried to pull away, but it was too late. The woman was becoming a living creature again. Finally when the act was finished Rai managed to pull herself away. She stumbled back, trembling and unable to keep her balance as one of her nostriles leaked blood from it as well. Her barely decent form stumbled and began to fall backwards as energy and possibly conciousness was leaving her.

Soran couldn't believe what he was seeing as he stared into Rai's frightened eyes. She was no longer a child, but a young woman. The shock of it nearly threw him off his feet. Then before he could move, Rai and Noventia's powers seemed to battle with one another. Soran found himself frozen, unable to move in the presence of all that power. It brought a fierce wave of nausea to his gut; the power and immensity of the spell was too close to what Reya's had been. When he could think again, Rai was bleeding from her nose and eyes, collapsing toward the ground.
The rogue stooped to catch her and scoop her into his arms. She was heavier than before, longer, and his fingers met with mostly bare skin as he embraced her. "Blade!" he shouted, demanding some kind of explanation. Sid's strong hands suddenly fell on his shoulders, dragging him out of the tent. "We need to run," he said to Soran.

"You little bitch! What did you do to me?" Noventia screamed, out of control. "I'll kill you!" Before she even moved to attack both Rai and Soran, she stopped dead. Slowly, blood began to leak from her throat and her mouth. A swift kick from behind by Blade made her fall forward, her head separating from her body. Where she once stood was Blade, heaving with anger and blood dripping from his lance.
"Got you first." he said mockingly. He turned his attention to Rai and Soran, Rai seemed to be going into unconsciousness. He rushed to her side and felt her head, concentrating. After a moment he said, "She'll be fine... her magic got stronger, but curing death took a lot of strength."

Rai was falling deeper and deeper into another realm, a black realm that held her fast. Shock, fear, and the strain of healing death was dragging her down away from the light of conciousness. The bleeding had stopped, that was a good sign. She needed clothing before they got close to a group of people, she was in decent. Her childs clothing had ripped when her body had grown and all that was left was rags.
After collecting himself and assessing that they were all okay and relatively unscathed, Blade stood up from Rai's side.
"We should... keep moving. This outburst, may attract unwelcome visitors." he said grimly.
Inside where Mizuki was being held, Mizuki felt a sudden weight being lifted from around her temples. That band of magic the sorceress had placed on her to keep her from using her powers... it was gone. Wasting no time, Mizuki felt for both Soran's and Blade's links, and even tried for Rai, but found it difficult. She had managed to latch onto Soran's mental link first.
"Soran...? It's me... What... What happened?"

Soran felt Mizuki's voice in his head like sunlight after a storm. His heart warmed at the familiar presence in his mind. She was alive. "Noventia is dead, but she's done something to Rai..." he thought, glancing at the slender, naked form in his arms. "We are coming for you. Where are you being kept?" he said, unsure how to explain Rai to her just yet.
"I thought I felt something strange about her. She's alright, yes? I'm...in a cave. To the east side of the camp... I'm to met with Shea soon."
Blade watched his father carefully, then realized Soran was talking to his mother. Mom was alive, Blade let out a relieved breath. His heart beating fast, never calming. They had to find her, was she telling him where she was? He waited patiently for Soran's mental conversation to end.

Rai's eyes blinked open, fluttering at first to stair up at a blurry head hovering over her. She blinked again and the vision cleared to find Soran there. She glanced around and the effort made the world spin far past where her eyes had stopped. She groaned, clenching them tight.
"Dad..." Strange. Usually she called him daddy. "Daddy..." She opened her eyes and reached out to touch his face, but stopped at the sight of her hand. It hadn't been a dream... She was bigger... Different. She could feel it. Her mind felt different. She suddenly new things that she used to be oblivious too. The cold against her skin made her aware of her state of dress, which made her aware of modesty and she folded her arms about her in an attempt to conceal some decency.
She was afraid too, but did so nevertheless and glanced down at the body she now occupied. No, it had always been her body, just different now. She sucked in air quickly, her fingers curling around the tattered fabric that did little to sheild the truth that she was now not a child.
She felt at her face, the wetness under her eyes that felt like warm tears and the blood at her nose. The sight of it made her stare in horror and she wondered if she was horribly mutilated or something of that nature. Why was her face bleeding? She didn't remember... It felt like a dream.
"Daddy?" she asked him, fearful that he'd hide the truth of the hideousness. The mutilation. Why was she bleeding? Her face didn't hurt. It was strange to here her voice, so different from the childish one it had been before. Soft, as sweet as music. A gentle nature pictured with each word spoken. An innocence that was intact, yet not at the same time. "What am I?"

Soran lost his focus and couldn't compose his mind enough to respond to Mizuki's question. He stared down at his precious daughter's terrified face - and it WAS her face, just different, older, but definitely her - and let his storm of emotions tell Mizuki what was happening.
"Daddy....what am I?" Rai asked him, covering her changed body and looking so afraid.
And for some reason he had a voice again, and calm, confident words. Miracles of fatherhood. "You're Rai. My daughter. And you're safe," he said firmly, using the hem of his shirt to blot the blood from her skin. The result wasn't glamorous, but it was a definite improvement. "We're going to find Mommy, and then we'll leave," he swore quietly, cupping the side of her face with his hand and looking into her eyes.

Simultaneously, Blade and Mizuki felt a pang of heartache. Mizuki through Soran, and Blade felt it by just watching. Though Rai was fine, there would be repercussions from what had happened to her. The sudden change of maturity would affect her mentally the most, it seemed. Blade looked away from them, feeling rather out of place from the scene of father and daughter. Instead he focused his thoughts on their surroundings and how they would find his mother.
They would definatly have to leave this area soon. Soldiers had to have heard the tussle, and Shea... she had to have felt the magic.
"We should get to Mom and leave soon..." Oddly enough, he unintentionally directed his words to Sid.

Sid stared at the scene, feeling bewildered, shocked, and a little bit of the alienation that Blade was sensing.
"We should get to Mom and leave soon..." Blade was saying.
Sid looked at Blade because it was easier than looking at Soran and Rai, and let the words sink in to his distracted thoughts. "Right...do we know where she is?" And just like that he found himself accidentally looking at Soran again. Foo.
But the rogue raised his head and looked back at them. "In a cave east of the camp," he said, gathering Rai's dangly new body into his arms and standing. His eyes met Sid's, which made the former soldier nod.
"Follow me," Sid said mostly for Blade's sake, understanding Soran's silent cue to lead. Footsteps and confused voices could be heard nearby; they'd definitely been noticed, but not yet identified. That was a good sign. Sid led them around the back of the tent and off to hide behind a supply wagon, then waited for the footfall to pass before taking a B line into the woods. The soldiers ran past where they'd just been, toward the sorceress's tent, while the small group of rescuers made their way in the opposite direction toward the east corner of the village, sticking to the shadows.

Blade followed, making no comment or move to take command. He did his part, and he let the soldier take the lead. In an odd way, it was smarter, even though Blade still had an uneasy and un-needful doubt that Sid would double cross them and lead them straight to Shea.
He pushed the doubt aside, figuring that if that was the case... wouldn't he have a vision of it?

Rai nodded at her father's words and leaned her face in against his warmth. She felt safe again, and he always did that. She knew that as long as Soran was around everything would be okay. He always saved the day. That was what Soran did. He was her hero.
So she rested there while the numbness in her limbs began to fade and her body began to tingle to life. A strange sensation, like her arms and legs had fallen a sleep and were finally waking up after so long.
Whenever she heard feet her breath would catch in her throat. She knew that being clothed the way she was meant something bad, indecent. She tried to ignore the fact that Sid and Blade were there. It was different for Soran, since he was her father. Yes, it made her slightly uncomfortable, but not near as much as with two almost perfect strangers there.
"Daddy... I want clothes," she whispered to him.
