Telanis had no words to answer her. His eyes drifted shut as he sped up, and then the same light that was surrounding his body filled his mind with white-hot sensation. Light burst out around them, filling the whole room around them, maybe even beyond that. It could have been the whole ship, it felt so strong. Telanis cried out and hugged Laya tightly against him, wide-eyed as the need began shifting away inside him and replaced by a feel of contentment that was different from anything he'd felt before. He stroked the back of her head slowly, letting the light slowly stop its singing in his chest.

Laya was still clinging to him rather tightly, holding on to his shoulders as she rested against him. Her eyes were closed as she gave a gentle sigh. She felt more whole than she had in a long time. She didn't exactly know what to say. Though she had been with a man before, this was so different. She didn't know if she was supposed to say anything at all. She felt like she should compliment him. Tell him that he had done well. She didn't know how to say it without making it sound stupid.

"That was nice," she said softly, barely even whispering. She nuzzled his neck, kissing it gently.

"Yes," Telanis murmured into her hair, not sure if he could move a muscle right now.

But then a knock came at the door. Telanis lifted his head enough to look across the room in confusion. He'd practically forgotten where they were. "I...I will answer it," he said, trying to drag himself together when it felt like pieces of his soul were floating out around him. He moved off of her, and it was like tearing himself in half. He would have time to figure that out later. For now he grabbed his clothes and pulled them on, nearly tumbling over as he got his leg tangled in his pants and wound up hopping halfway across the room on one foot. He gave Laya a sheepish grin as he finally got balanced and put them on. "You're glowing also," he smiled as he redid his buckle. Not only was she glowing very faintly, but her eyes were lit up like his.

He finally made it to the door and opened it to find Fletcher standing on the other side, staring at him in wonderment. Telanis blinked at him, confused. Fletcher's eyes were glowing too. Odd...

The man's throat worked for a moment, as if not sure what to say. "You'd better come on deck," he said strangely, turning and walking back toward the stairs.

Telanis stared after the man as he receded down the hall, then turned toward Laya with a curious stare. "He was glowing too..."

Laya was still lying in bed, gathering sheets of silk around her while Telanis seemed to hurry to the door. She wasn't sure how anyone would react if they found out what had just taken place...

The person on the other side of the door was someone she cared not too see. He seemed to have trouble figuring out what to say. She made sure to stay slightly hidden behind the sheets and when he was gone she listened to Telanis thoughtfully.

She could guess what might have happened, though she couldn't entirely blame them for doing that to that horrible woman. Then, no one deserved that fate. "I think we should be careful, Telanis..." She quickly rose and dressed as fast as she could.

Telanis closed the door and walked back to the bed, stumbling once on the level floor. He knelt next to her on the bed, touching her hand. His body felt drained and clumsy, but his soul was warm with the memory of what had just happened. He didn't even know how to name it; it made him feel strong and weak and thrilled and nervous at once. "I'm not sure what to say...you amaze me, Laya," he said quietly.

Laya smiled, glancing away for a moment before looking back at him. "You don't have to say anything. Just... that you enjoyed it... I want you to be happy Telanis," She kissed his cheek sweetly.

"Come on... They need us on deck," she said, taking his hand and leading him towards the door and finally up the steps leading to the top deck. She was curious to see what they were needed for, and at the same time fearful. However, if anything wreched began to happen... She and Telanis could jump overboard. She would help him swim.

Telanis held her hand as they ran up the steps, focusing to make one foot move after the other. When they emerged on the deck, they faced a rather different situation that they'd expected. The entire crew was standing on deck, staring at them in awed confusion. And every single crewmate's eyes were glowing gold. Even Amarra, who was tied up and being supported by two of the men, looked entranced.

"What in the world have you two done?" Fletcher asked them, his voice not exactly accusing. In fact, it was almost grateful.

"What do you mean?" Telanis asked warily.

"Every one of us felt it. What you just did."

"What have you done with the unicorn?" asked another crewmate.

"Leave her alone," another said. "If we're going to hell for that, I'm not sure I mind.

"But...he's a...he's not even human!"

"Well obviously he pulls off a good impression."

"Listen, no matter how it felt, we took Amarra aside because we wanted to PREVENT her from debauching him. Apparently this girl was just as dangerous.

Telanis narrowed his eyes, not understanding. It had spread to all of them? Why did they seem so judgmental of it? Was it wrong somehow? He understood what he'd just done less and less as they stared him down.

Laya hugged Telanis's arm to her as the men looked at her accusingly. She had no idea what was going on. She didn't understand why they were all glowing too.

"What we did wasn't wrong!" Laya said quickly, defensively. "What we did was out of love. What that woman would have done would have been of corruption and lust!"

Laya looked at Telanis. "Don't listen to them, okay... They don't understand. They think just as she does. Not purely as you do," she said gently.

"Maybe he's not a unicorn," someone mumbled

"Idiot, of course he is. How else do you explain what we just felt?"

"Listen," Fletcher said, stopping their banter as he stepped toward them. "Most of us have spent years forbidden by that woman to experience what you just gave us. We're all grateful...but this crew is a superstitious lot. If you stay on this ship, I can't guarantee your safety. We can give you a dinghy and some rations, point you toward shore...but I think it's best you leave.

"I'm sorry I've...invaded your privacy," Telanis said, working to find a name for the offense he'd made to these people. "I didn't know it would happen."

"I told you, we don't mind so much as it just ain't natural," Fletcher said. "We're the ones who abducted you in the first place. And it's our fault you're stuck out here, but I'm sorry, we've just got to let you off here.

"What will you do with her, then?" Telanis said, looking toward Amarra.

Fletcher raised a brow at the protective fire that was burning in Telanis's eyes. "She's going off the plank. We've had enough of her shenanigans."

Laya looked at Fletcher, wondering if whatever that woman had done with him had changed his dispicable ways. Or if he was just pretending at the moment.

"We'll be taking that boat, now..." Laya said quickly, before anyone forgot they were getting off the ship. She held Telanis's hand tightly.

"Dinghy's this way. Get in and we'll lower you down," Fletcher said, relieved they were cooperating. He didn't feel quite himself at the moment, but then, none of them did after Telanis's mind had washed through them all. Sure enough, there was a lifboat hanging from a crane off the side of the ship.

"Give her a boat also," Telanis demanded, making the men turn back to him.

Fletcher looked at Amarra. "There's only two dinghies on this vessel. One for you, one for us. She swims."

"Her arms are bound," Telanis said sternly.

"I. Know." Fletcher said in Telanis's face. "Now get in the boat."

"Send her with us," Telanis demanded.

"You don't like her any more than we do. Get in the fucking boat!" Fletcher shouted.

Laya urged Telanis into the boat. "Get in... It will be alright. I have a plan," she whispered into Telanis's ear as she too climbed into the boat and took a seat at the opposite end. She watched Telanis, nodding reasuringly to him.

Telanis bristled as the crewmen guided him into the vessel. He looked back at Amarra anxiously. As awful as she'd been, he couldn't let them kill her.

Then Laya whispered in his ear. He forced himself to get into the boat with her, hoping she had a plan. The men gave a shout and lowered them down until the boat crashed into the water. The sea was luckily still for the moment, but that could always change at a moment's notice in the Sea of Ongore.

"Thanks, unicorn! Safe sailing," the men shouted over the rail, waving them off. The ship moved swiftly in the opposite direction. Telanis gripped the edge of the dinghy and stared anxiously at the ship as it grew smaller and smaller. About a minute later, Amarra's form flew overboard and plunged into the waves. Telanis looked back at Laya. He knew better than to jump in the water. He was too exhausted to swim, even if he knew how.

Laya met Telanis's eyes and shook her head as she stood up. "I can't believe I'm doing this." The boat rocked slightly. "After what this woman did..." she muttered and looked at Telanis again. "I'll be back."

With that she dove into the water and swam towards the woman. She had to go back under once she reached the place the woman had fallen in. She swam until she reached the struggling captain, grabing her bound hands and swimming towards the surface. Laya took a clean breath of air and then began to swim back towards the small boat that they occupied. She tugged Armarra behind her, not even saying a word as she did so.

Once they reached the boat, Laya gave her hand and helped her in, pulling herself on board. The boat tipped slightly, but didn't flip as she finally pulled herself into the floor of the boat.

"There... no one died and we are finally off of that ship..." She pushed her brown hair out of her way, adjusted the clothes that were clinging to her, and smiled at Telanis. She still couldn't believe that she had actually... With him... and the world hadn't come to a screatching hault.

Telanis gripped the side of the boat anxiously as Laya swam away. But a relieved look came over his face when she resurfaced with the captain. He stayed to the opposite side of the boat while they climbed over the rail. Amarra sank onto the bench at the bow of the dinghy and glowered at them in astonishment. "What are you doing?" she asked suspiciously.

Telanis didn't say anything. He lifted the oars from the floor of the boat and settled the pegs into the sides of the craft, climbing onto the center bench miraculously without falling overboard. He was getting better and better at using this body.

He looked at Laya's dripping form. "Here," he said, pulling his shirt over his head and holding it out to her. "Don't get sick."
