Lore: A Battle of Good and Evil

This is the forest that covers most of Ighten in dense and thick trees. It is the oldest forest in Heirot, since most of the Forests in Arken have been destroyed. It is well known as a haunted forest where ghosts and demons reside. In the forest are many villages. The villagers will tell you tales of trees that eat people, gaint spiders, and dragon lairs.

Thomas looked at them, "I help you because I know it's the right thing to do. I know exactly what we're up against, and I've seen what their powers can do...I never want it to happen again..I'll die before I see that again."

Carnthir nodded in thanks. "Though I doubt they will ever find our city again." He paused and stared out into the unknown world beyond the forest. "Our city is now well protected and shielded with our on magic." He turned back to Thomas and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Get some rest. We leave at sunrise tomorrow." With that the elf departed to the tents that were pitched for the cities inhabitants.

Thomas nodded. He walked over to a tent that was set up for him. He felt honored among these elves. The thief decided to take Carnthir's advice and get some rest. He unbuckled his weapons, setting them aside. He then lay down in the cot, closing his eyes and falling asleep.

Carnthir laid in his tent with wide eyes. He wouldn't find sleep this night. Too much sorrow had come to his people. He tossed and turned and saw the burned image of the dark lords who caused so much destruction and chaos.

Most slept but a few could be heard singing their sorrows of the previous night and morn. Carnthir stepped from his tent and listened to their solemn voices. He walked through the rubble that remained of his city... his home. He walked among his singing kindred and found a large branch to sit on. He rested there looking up into the vast sea of stars that made up the heavens above.

"Hello Carnthir." Thomas was leaning against a piece of rubble, cross-legged and with his hands in his lap. He had fallen asleep, but had had a nightmare. He couldn't sleep after that, so he came out here to look up at the moon. He smiled a little at it, finding comfort in it.

"Are you not tired?" Carnthir asked keeping his eyes to the sky. A soft breeze blew through his golden hair that gleamed in the moonlight.

Thomas shook his head, "I tried to go to sleep, but I had another nightmare again...I know that if I go back to sleep, it will come back. But I'm not too tired." He turned to face Carnthir, "And what about you, Carnthir? Don't you need some sleep?"

Carnthir kept his gaze distant. "I will find sleep with time." His voice soft and pure to the ears. The voices of his kindred still sang in their native tongue.

The air around them fell silent and Carnthir didn't say anything else.

Thomas leaned against the stone, the moonlight reflecting off the runes along his face. He wore no hood this time, his face in full view. He trusted these people, and he hoped they wouldn't question it.

"It was good to talk to you Thomas," Carnthir said as he rose to his feet. "But I really need some time alone... I will see you in the morning." He dissappeared

Thomas nodded, waving to him as he left. He decided to stay silent, and he leaned against the rock. He closed his eyes, suddenly finding that he fell asleep. This time, rather than having a bad dream, he would not dream at all.

"Get up," Carnthir said as he kicked Thomas's boot. "The sun has nearly risen and we're getting ready to move out." He stepped over the human and went to the three elves that waited with Dol at the steps of what was left of the emerald-roofed palace.

Thomas yawned, stretched quickly, and then was up on his feet. He walked over to the elves and stood with them, "Morning." He smiled a little, knowing that this was no time to be all sunshine and giggles. They had an important task at hand, and he would treat it as such.

The elves nodded. Among them was Coia, Carnthir, and two others Thomas hadn't met yet. Dol stood in front of them and bade them farewell.

"This is Eled," Carnthir gestured to the one with light brown hair. "And this is Delmere." He noted the other who stood just a bit taller than the rest of them and his blond hair flowed down to between his shoulder blades. The inclined their head to Thomas as was their fashion.

Thomas nodded back, thinking they would know his name. His name was probably known by all these people now. He looked to Carnthir, waiting for them to be off. He had his weapons and gear already on, and would probably need them in the coming days.
