Lowight, Capital City of Ighten
Built with the hands of a widowed Queen and her shunned people, this towering beacon for goodness was originally made of sticks and stones. Now looking at the white marble that covers the outside of the upper class homes and palace you would have never known. The middle class homes and business area is made from heavy granite, the lower class is made from smooth cut stone. The palace is placed directly in the middle of the large and wealthy city. Its large and heavy wooden doors have the symbol of a half -sun and half-moon that come together where the double doors open. Behind the palace walls is a garden of enchantment, a maze of wonders and mystery, a place of peace and tranquility. Anyone is allowed into the palaces garden, except for after nightfall. Only if there isn’t an engagement of some sort. Businesses are booming at any time, there is always a place to work, if you are one to work. Education is a high, in Lowight, with schools for any age and class. However, Lowight is not with out its crime originations. Mostly those will be found towards the wall surrounding the city. The port to the city is probably the most well guarded area besides the palace, so not much crime can happen there. In the town square, where the gate to the palace wall is, standing at the top of the large fountain is the statue of the longest reigning Queen of Ighten, Sinead.
Hepian
Found just bellow the border it was the first capital of Ighten, and is the second oldest city in Ighten. Its walls are made of weathered and crumbling stone. The buildings from the same material. Thatched roofs in some places, mud shingles in others. It looks really to be a poor town. For those trying to get from Arken to Ighten it is one of their first stops. Many criminals have resided here, hiding in the slums of the city and dealing their dirty work. A lot of good is here, too. Education is for all classes of wealth. Jobs are somewhat hard to find if you are not qualified for much of anything. The town is run by a pompous and very overweight lord who allows many of the criminals to get away with what they are doing as long as he gets a share of the cut. In short, the city is a good place to find weapons and an even better place to find trouble.
The J’ra Village
When you first arrive at the J’ra village you are met by the laughter of children as they run through a meadow speckled with pink flowers. Beyond the small river that separates the village from the meadow is a town made from gray stone with specs of real gold. The village is rich in culture and history as it is the oldest village in the Ighten. Statues of warriors long past line the buildings in there own selected grooves. Oak, and willow trees occupy there sacred places, planted in memory of those who have fallen in the name of the Queen. Though the J’ra people are trained at birth in the ways of combat, they are also known for there art and sculpture. Many people visit the peaceful village each year to see the J’ra people, though many of the J’ra people never leave the village unless it is to serve their Queen. The village is led by the oldest living warrior, though he must be one who is capable of leading the village. The J’ra people, who are gifted fighters, rarely use there skills unless they completely must. Though they are deadly, they would rather talk than fight.
The Ashgrown Forest.
Many years ago the great volcano May’em erupted. A cloud of ash was carried to where Ighten now is. The ash was so thick that it destroyed much of all plant life until the forest was gone. Many years later the forest began to grow back, thick, lush and more deadlier than ever. New breeds of plants have gown back. Since it came from ashes the forest is called the Ashgrown forest. The forest has many of the old kinds of trees, for more of those than the knew. Some trees stand more than a hundred feet tall, others are low and shaped oddly so that you have to crawl under there arm-like branches. In places, deep in the forest, some plants of a thirst for something other than water. Creatures of a different kind live here, and many of the demons who were trapped in Ighten when the border was created have made a home in the dark jungle-like forest. Just because Ighten is known as The Kingdom of Light doesn’t mean the whole place is good. Many things are hidden in this forest. Many things indeed. Creatures that the Witch Queen created during the Queen Wars still hide here waiting for a pure of heart to come along for dinner. However, the land known as The Light is slowly starting to lose it’s pure of heart and the food source is limiting… Now the creatures that have been hidden for so long are starting to come out to play. Towns are hidden here and there all around the Ashgrown Forest, but don’t expect a warm welcome…
