(Lore) Recovering

The shores of Ighten are beautiful beaches with white sand, palm trees, shacks and houses with people that live along it. It's also an easy way for Arken people to enter Ighten, since it is more or less unguarded. Sometimes wrecked ships wash ashore.

Telanis nodded gratefully and pulled on the cloak, fumbling hopelessly with the sash that tied in the front to hold it closed. The use of fingers was a skill he was far from mastering. He saw little need for such garments, but understood that humans considered them very important and were quite concerned by nudity. He thought he managed to knot the sash, but it fell loose again.

Laya grabbed the garment before it could fall to his feet and she tied it for him. Laya thought that for at least Neko and Kratos's sake Telanis should have more clothing.

She nelt and began unbuckling the pants of the man she had taken the cloak from and went to his feet, taking off his boots and pulling his pants off.

"I don't know if these will fit..." she said and handed them to him. "But, its worth a try..."

Telanis looked on curiously as Laya undressed the hunter. He'd never seen a human do such a thing, but then again, humans always had clothing...that must be why.

He took the pants from her, and looked at them with interest. There was a series of interlocking metal prongs, and a round disk that was meant to fit into a small hole to close...He'd never realized pants were this complicated... but could foresee that it would take him a while to learn to stand on one leg at a time, close buttons and lace boots. Without any tact, he leaned towards Kratos and peered at his fly curiously.

More voices came from the woods, this time very close. Close enough that they could probably seen if someone were looking in the right direction. "We should go," Telanis said, looking eagerly toward a narrow strip of flat turf that led down around the edge of the landslide rubble and into some dense undergrowth.

Kratos and Neko barely registered anything that had happened. First there was a Unicorn, and where he stood there was now a man, and now they could hear hoofbeats in the distance.

"Ah," Kratos broke the akward silence between them. "We should go." He rode up next to Telanis and offered his hand. "Or would you perferr Laya?"

Telanis recalled the painful story Laya had recounted to him earlier by the waterfall, and had marked well the fearful expression on her face upon seeing him. It would be best to accept Kratos's offer.

"Thank you," he apologized as he accepted Kratos's hand and was pulled up quite easily into place behind the saddle, being very light compared to normal humans. He didn't mean to, but soon found himself holding tightly to Kratos's shoulders, finding it very disorienting to balance on horseback - a strange concept in itself. The horses picked their way carefully down the narrow trail, and then off into a thick patch of undergrowth that didn't appear to lead anywhere. Soon, the bushes became too dense to pass on horseback, and Telanis gestured for them to dismount. He slid off the back of the horse and landed on his feet, though they refused to support him and he collapsed momentarily to his knees.

"This way," he told them after he'd made it back to his feet, gesturing toward what appeared to be a steep earthen wall, overgrown with grass, several yards away.

Kratos found it bewildering that he was so light when he lifted him up. As they traveled Neko's face was turning red at the sight of this man. 'That has to be the most beautiful man I have ever seen! And he was momentarily a horse!' Neko thought blushing and trying to control her thoughts. Her thoughts broke when Telanis told them to dismount and Neko, Kratos, and Laya followed him down.

"Wait... what about the horses?" Neko asked him. She didn't know what to do with them really, it didn't look like the horses could follow the trail they were going to take.

"Let them wander off for now. I can call them to come back to you later," Telanis said, placing a hand gently on the cheek of Kratos's horse. The horse grunted understandingly and nickered to Laya's horse, and the two animals walked casually off in the direction from which they'd come.

He took a trembling step toward the bank of earth, but faltered dizzily and just managed to take hold of a sapling trunk to keep himself standing. With an unsteady breath, he looked back at Kratos and said "forgive me, I might need to lean on you." He needed to get them there quickly, in case he ended up losing consciousness entirely.

Kraots nodded and offered the weka man his shoulder. He even wrapped his arm around the man's wasit for more support.

"Where are you having us go?" Neko asked tentivly.

Telanis accepted Kratos's shoulder gratefully and managed to keep his legs moving as he half-hung on the healthier man. "There's a place just beyond here," he said as if talking to himself as he directed Kratos through the undergrowth to what looked like a solid wall of steeply angled earth covered in brush and long ferns. Up close, however, Telanis, brushed the ferns to the side to reveal that there was actually a passage, which opened up into a small, dry cave. It wasn't exactly spacious, but it wasn't uncomfortably tight either. Telanis gestured for them to go inside and soon they were all standing inside the cavern. Light filtered in from between two boulders that comprised the ceiling of the cave, and some moss grew in a patch on the ground where the sunlight hit the floor. Telanis sat down tiredly near the back wall, the cloak Laya had given him covering his torso for the time being. "It will be safe here," he told them.

Kratos and Neko sat along the side wall, close to Telanis. Kratos tried to think of how the heck they could explain all of this and Neko was trying hard not to stare at the horse/man.

''Um.." Neko stammared. "What's your name?"

Telanis looked at Neko and blinked. He had a name, but used it so rarely that he'd forgotten it was of any importance. "Telanis," he replied calmly. "And you are?" He looked at the three strangers curiously.

Neko smiled, she like his name. "Neko Torankusu! And this is my brother Kratos!" Neko smiled broadly. "Kratos is a skilled swordsman." Kratos was pulled from his thoughts and hit his sister playfully in the shoulder. "Ow! What! Well you are!" Kratos tried to hide the blush creeping up on his face.

Laya moved around towards the back in a corner. She hated caves. So many memories filled her mind that involved a cave. She glanced at Kratos, Neko, and Telanis with wary eyes as if they had just stabbed her in the back. She hated being inside of this place... She curled up as an image of that cave and she realized she was sitting in the exact same possition she had been in when she had fallen a sleep. She jerked her legs out and folded her arms, she would not fall a sleep. She wouldn't.

But, they wouldn't hurt her like that.... or what if Kratos was like Kron... what if he was pretending to be nice? What if Neko was pretending he was nice....

Telanis smiled to himself as the two siblings jostled each other, attracted to their playfulness. He was distracted, however, as he felt a wave of fear coming from the girl whose name he did not yet know. He saw no cause for her sudden alarm...nothing had changed except their surroundings...

"Is this place unpleasant for you? If so, there's another-" Telanis's voice broke off as he moved to sit up from his place against the wall, but caused the wound in his side to twist painfully. He fell backward again with a cringe, which he quickly concealed with a calm smile. "Above us, there's a nice place where you can see around the forest from above. You can climb up the rocks at the back of the cave," he offered.

Tetsumaru wandered around the forest, now lost. He had lost his focus again somewhere between leaving his cabin and gathering firewood and now could not remember the way back, so he wandered around. Usually he found his way back to his abode after a few hours, but this time he wandered deeper and deeper into the forest, soon stumbling across a cave. Hearing voices coming from it, the ex-samurai started walking towards it.
