Neko walked out of the waterfall and Kratos walked up to her, a question in his eyes as he glanced at the horse and Laya. Neko shurgged, she seriously didn't understand.
"The hunters are waiting in the forest." Kratos whispered in her ear and Neko gasped.
"We need to get them out of here." Neko replied and Kratos nodded seriously. He hesitated on approaching the two but if he didn't... His hand gently touche Laya's other shoulder.
"I'm sorry but I must alert you to the fact that the hunters are waiting in the forest..." Kratos looked at the unicorn. "You need to get out of here."

"If everything were to stop, nothing could be changed," a patient, ramarkably gentle male voice spoke in her mind, "It is because you are still moving that you can heal, and have hope. I cannot grant your request."
Laya jumped as if fire had fell on her shoulder when Kratos touched her. She turned her head towards him, her brown hair brushing against the neck of the unicorn.
Laya swallowed hard and looked around as if she had been shaken from a dream. "You need to leave... to get away from this forest and go to another part... they will continue to hunt you if you stay here..." She wiped her cheeks and looked to the unicorn. "I want to go with you... I want... to heal... You can help me... can't you?"

Telanis raised his head and faced Kratos, his ears flicking attentively to the forest around them. The smell of blood was still numbing his senses, but a slight sound from the hill above them confirmed to him that the human was speaking the truth.
"You need to leave... to get away from this forest and go to another part... they will continue to hunt you if you stay here..." She wiped her cheeks and looked to the unicorn. "I want to go with you... I want... to heal... You can help me... can't you?"
Telanis looked at Laya in thoughtful silence. Before he could fully consider what she had asked him, he heard rather than saw an arrow fly at him, and twisted his neck quickly to the side. The arrow grazed his cheek as he dodged, and he immediately shot his head back up to look at the hunter with what certainly would have been a determined glare had his features been human.
"I had a feeling something was going on here," Fendir said with a frown, looking down at Laya, Neko and Kratos. "Step away from them, beast." Several hunters had their bows drawn and ready to fire.
Telanis flattened his ears against his head and looked quietly at Laya. He wished he could grant her wish...even knowing he was trapped...even though he would be hunted, even though he didn't trust humans. Her tears were enough to shake his resolve, but not to break it. She would be in danger with him. He would be in danger with her.
Telanis stepped backwards slowly until he was a safe distance from Laya and Kratos. He didn't know what these people were doing here, but he knew he must not stay with them.
"Wise choice, Unicorn," Fendir said flatly, raising his hand to signal his hunters to strike. "Well done, you three. Intentional or not, we couldn't have caught him without you. The village owes you a debt of gratitude."
With a flick of his hand, he signalled the hunters to fire. A hail of arrows flew towards Telanis, but struck into the mud at the bottom of the river instead. In a flash, the unicorn had darted sideways and disappeared up the opposite bank.
Telanis felt a keen sense of regret as he raced through the trees ahead of his pursuers. He did not belong among humans; experience had proven that to him. Why, then, did the instincts to guard and protect burn as though engraved into his soul?

Laya slowly rose out of the water, shivering and wet. She watched as the unicorn backed away from her. She didn't want him to go... but knew he would die if he stayed. If she hadn't been slowed by the movement of the river, the hight of the water, or his words she would have dove in front of he arrows.
She watched with a heavy sadness as the unicorn darted away. The memory of him brushing away her tears caused a small tingle on her face... as if she could still feel it.
Laya looked at Kratos and Neko, she wondered what they should do.

Neko cried out and Kratos jumped as the arrows flew towards the Unicorn. It barely registered to them that he was now already a safe distance away.
"My intention was not to capture him for you." Neko growled at the men but it was more to herself since they were out of earshot from her. Stiffly, she walked up to Kratos who studied the direction the UNicorn had taken. 'He moved so fast I doubt the hunters know what direction he took.' Kratos thought, a plan forming in his mind.
"Where'd he go?!" one of the men asked. Kratos pointed in the opposite direction the Unicorn had originally taken.
"That way." Kratos told them, pointing more down the bank than up it.
OOC: actually, I dunno if this is ok. Should the hunters loose Telanis?

ooc: Good idea. At the least they should split up.

Fendir frowned at Kratos, but had to admit he had not been able to follow the creature's movements clearly. Furthermore, he had enough head start to have changed directions by now. He turned to his men. "Split up! Three of you go southwest, three south. The rest of you, follow me!" In a blinding shower of torn-up earth, the horses broke into motion and leapt across the creek, running in several groups over the river. Fendir's group was going the right direction.
After running for several minutes, Telanis slowed his pace and looked behind him grimly, his half-healed wounds growing sore. He heard no hooves in pursuit. Had they lost him that easily? An unsettling thought struck him. Had they done something to the three who had followed him? He turned back in the direction he had come and looked into the woods speculatively, shining in a patch of sunlight. In the distance, he began to hear a small group of hooves coming toward him, probably three horses, maybe only two. The hunting party had certainly been larger. He stood tensely and watched into the trees for the identity of the group that was approaching.

Laya made her way out of the water slowly, her feet dragging across the rocky bottom. She wrapped her arms around her as a cool breeze blew and she shivered. She looked up, wondering if Neko or Kratos had heard anything she had told the unicorn.
A red tint came to her cheeks as she grew angry at herself for loosing what little mind she had left. She shouldn't have been so open with it... even though it felt right. She glanced warily behind her at them... then finally her feet touched the muddy bank.

"We need to reach the unicorn before they do." Kratos said hurriedly, mounting his horse. Neko looked behind her to Laya and walked up behind her and rested her hands comfortingly on Laya's shoulders.
"Come. We're going to rescue the unicorn... don't throw your life away without giving it another chance." Neko whispered the last part to her. Laya had always given Neko the feeling that she would, given the chance, jump off a cliff if it was there. Neko didn't like it at all.

Tetsumaru stepped out of his cabin, gray hair blowing back and forth. He intended to take a stroll, maybe into town, to entertain himself. However, after taking a few steps, he had forgotten what he had actually gone outside to do. Shrugging he drew his sword out and began training.
He lost his focus as he mentally drifted off into a realm of nothingness as his bodies went through kata after kata by itself. When he came to, he had forgotten what he was doing once again, not having focused on it. Eyeing the sword in his hand, he shrugged and figured that he had it drawn so he could chop some firewood, and set into the forest to do just that.

"That'll be hard." Neko said, mounting her horse. "These peopl are close-minded. People like that are hard to convince." a grim expression on Kratos and Neko's faces.
"Maybe... the boy.." Kratos added in.
"Maybe." Neko nodded to her brother and they rode off in the true direction the Unicorn had taken.

Laya mounted the horse and turned it towards the direction where the unicorn had gone. A strong part of her wanted to follow... but then the other part was afraid she would get him into more trouble. But, what if they killled him. She couldn't let that happen.
She nudged her horse and then gave a slight hard kick. The mare rared and jumped into a gallop.
She was behind Kratos and Neko, catching up fast, her mind a blur with different thoughts and emotions. She wanted to help the unicorn... but what if helping got him hurt?

Telanis peered into the forest to see who was approaching, thinking it was probably the people from before at the waterfull. Instead, the ones who appeared at full gallop in the trees were a small group of the hunting party, bows already strung.
"No!" Telanis thought in alarm as he spun away from them and raced away. He heard the telltale sound of arrows hissing through the air and felt one strike him in the side towards his back. What had he been thinking? Even if it had been them... he hurled himself forward and began leading the hunters in a dizzying mazelike route through the forest, which more or less went in a circle. Telanis's superior knowledge of the terrain gave him a strong advantage, and the hunters were repeatedly left to stumble around a ravine or go around fallen limbs that the other horses could not possibly leap over as Telanis could. But the unicorn was tiring; his wounds made it difficulty to keep his bearings as he raced dizzily ahead of the hunters. Several times he heard arrows whiz past his head, but with luck, he had managed to dodge them.

'I don't kno what to do!' Neko's thoughts raced. Full of guilt for letting the hunters almost catch the Unicorn, and full of rage at the hunters for wanting to kill such a beautiful creature. 'It's not fair!' Plus, what if they still lead the hunters to the Unicorn?
"How do we stop them?" she said aloud.
