Telanis thought about what Laya said, trying to focus through the murmur of thoughts. If Kratos wanted to fight, would he be able to stay here with them? He couldn't concentrate. If only he could focus on just one mind, but they were all too far and quiet. Then, Laya took his hand and all the chaos in his head fell silent. Her psyche, warm and kind, confident although slightly tense, meshed into his and the other signals receded to a managable buzz. He looked at her, his body visibly relaxing a bit. "I suppose there will be time to discuss this in the morning," he said, the sudden loss of tension making him notice that he was tired. Or maybe it was that she was tired, and he was just picking it up. It wasn't usually this hard to separate others' minds from his own, though he wasn't upset by it. "Are you tired?" he asked, feeling strange for asking when he ought to be able to tell.

Laya looked up at Telanis and nodded. "Yes," she said. Telanis made her feel comfortable. She wasn't afraid of him. If anything, she felt safer with him sleeping next to her. Even though he didn't like violence... she felt he could protect her just by lying there.
She tugged on his hand and gently led him to the futon. She nelt down and laid on her side, pulling him down with her. There was nothing sexual in the manner, just pure innocence. She meant nothing by it that was in any way sexual.

Telanis smiled softly and lay down next to Laya, his body tall enough in comparison that he could tuck his chin on top of her head, her face level with his collarbone and still stretch his feet past hers on the futon. His hair spilled like a river of silver in between them. He held her hand between their two chests. Hands were kind of nice. It was the first time it had occurred to him to see his human form as anything but a crippled state. Human bodies fit very well against each other. Maybe it was because he was human right now that their psyches seemed to fit so closely as well? He didn't know whose drowsiness pulled him to sleep, his or hers, but after a minute or so he calmed down and fell asleep.

Laya looked at his face a while after he had fallen a sleep. She was sleepy too, but for some reason had stayed a wake just to watch him fall a sleep. She didn't understand it. It felt nice to sleep next to him... he was the only man she had slept next to since Kron...
She sighed softly, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as she fell into that deep abyss that was sleep.

Kratos and his mother talked long into the night that had slowly creep up on them, or, it was more like a heated argument. Kratos wanted to fight but his mother was strongly forbidding it. Who was left to fight? Mostly women and children, the elders and a few men--some which are wounded from their resistance. There was no one to fight, at least not properly. They'd all be killed before they even made a dent in the warlord's hold on them.
A strong plan needed to be made... Or the Shogun needed to come back and the Queen of Igthen lend them fighting support. It was likely she would... but would it be enough and how long would that take? Too long in Kratos's mind.
But now he was sleeping with troubled dreams in his head, wishing his father was still here. He cried in his sleep for the first time since hearing of his father's passing.
Neko woke up though. Rubbing her eyes groggily and trying to see in the dark room. She remembered dully where they were but it had not fully hit her the memories of what had happened. She dully noted that her eyes were puffy and felt strained. She had a bit of a headache since falling asleep while crying. She got up slowly, not really thinking about where she was going and ended up in the stables outside.
She stared up at the night sky then back down, her eyes falling on the dozing horses. She walked by and patted each one on the muzzle gently, not knowing what else to do since she was here.

Adonis had been standing without sleeping at the other end of the paddock when he heard the door to the house open and someone come out. He looked over and saw the human girl outside, petting the horses. In the middle of the night? He observed her quietly, wondering again why she didn't come out earlier. Something had to be wrong...not that he cared.
Neko walked down the aisle between the stables until she came to the end and patted Adonis lightly on his muzzle without realizing who he was. She felt so detached from the world. She sighed tiredly and leaned her forehead against Adonis's face.
"I remember," she said not to anyone in particular, "Why I was crying... but now I feel so empty and void of feeling... Is that normal?"

Adonis flinched as she touched his face, vaguely annoyed. But he'd seen it coming, he could have moved. When she rested her forehead on his, he grew more unsettled.
"I remember why I was crying...but now I feel so empty and void of feeling... Is that normal?" she said quietly.
The unicorn watched her curiously, her closeness drawing out his protective instincts again. One of the things he hated most about humans was how he was incapable of hating them, sometimes. Then again, he didn't exactly like being out here alone, with just his bitter thoughts to consider while he waited for day to break. Her company might not be entirely unacceptable, at least this once. He slid his face past hers, his furred cheek brushing against her ear as he crested his neck over her shoulder and carefully drew her forward, close to his chest in a huglike gesture, though the fence kept them from actually meeting. He had not held someone this way in a very long time, and his thoughts raced with doubts that maybe he should stop.

Neko leaned forward instinctively and wrapped her arms around the horse's neck as if she always had hugged the horse like this. She rubbed her cheek against his warm coat and petted his mane. She didn't think to understand why this horse was acting like this, she just liked the holding gesture that was being made.
"There's too much sadness in the world." she stated quietly.

Adonis looked down at the ground behind her, knowing she was right, knowing he had experienced his share of it, but at the moment, he was unable to care about anyone's sadness but hers. He accepted, and even appreciated her gentle touch on his mane. He wanted to be able to speak, and ask her what happened. It was very human of him; not something a unicorn would think about. Instead he made a low nicker into her hair, his aura pulsing with soothing magic.
She felt calmed, but not like she was before, now she felt at ease with the world and not so empty and void of feeling. She was content now and even felt warm all over.
"Tel...anis?" she murmmered without thinking. Telanis was a unicorn, he could do things like that. But this wasn't a unicorn, was it? No, he had no horn... strange.

Adonis paused when she called him Telanis. He tried to pull his instincts together again, numbing down some of his magic. He was doing too much; she was able to notice. He needed to do something horselike...horselike...
Forgetting his pride for a moment, he lipped at her hair playfully as if it were straw, nickering.
