Lore: Behind Stone Walls

It's home to many monasteries of the martial arts. Amidst the tall and welcoming trees there can be found statues of heroes and saints....

Right as Kratos and his mother were coming outside Laya was picking herself up off the ground, again. She dusted her clothing off and let Kratos's mother take over for her, feeling like she had been arguing with a wall. A nice pretty pink hand print hand formed on the left side of her face, but nothing that would bruise.

Adonis held still while the humans fought over him, wondering where the Ongoreth girl was. Why hadn't she come out? Not that he particularly wanted to see her. He just...particularly didn't want to see everyone else. When the guards seemed to finally abandon their battle with Kratos's strong-willed mother, they cast them a "this isn't over" glare of contempt and stalked off. Adonis looked over at the human girl that had tried to fend them off and the rash on her face. He would never understand these people, but he saw that as no reason to trust or like them. He wasn't even going to thank her. It wasn't as if he wanted to be here. He just needed time to consider his options.

Kratos' mother nodded tryumphantly in the direction the soldiers went off. As if saying, 'Serves you right!' She went back inside and Kratos went over and made sure she was alright.

"Are you ok?" he asked her then looked at the dark horse as if this was all his fault.

Laya looked at Kratos, rubbing her cheek gently. "I'm alright," she said, staring at Adonis. He didn't seem thankful at all. She didn't understand why he was being so mean to her. "Thanks..."

She smiled slightly and then turned with him to go into the house. "I have this problem about doing good, and saving things..."

Adonis flicked his tail in irritation and turned away from the human's accusing look. The motion was so human it almost could have given him away, if he hadn't begun chewing on a stringly plant next to him out of nervous habit a moment later.

Kratos gave a nervous laugh then led Laya inside, but he came back out and looked at the dark horse with his hands on his hips. Finally making up his mind, Kratos took Adonis by the mane and tugged on it gently.

"Lets take you around to the back, horse." he said. Where had this guy come from? he wondered but didn't think more on it. "you're causing some trouble. In the back you wont." Kratos only meant to keep Adonis in the backyard with a fence. There, people would believe they owned him.

It was by a GREAT force of will that Adonis refrained from lashing out at Kratos and allowed himself to be let to the paddock out back. The other horses kept a large, respectful distance from them, knowing him immediately as something beyond their kind.

Patting the horses flank, Kratos lock the gate. "be good," he told Adonis and all the other horses then went back inside. Once back in the house, he looked around the room. He was one man out of women... and a unicorn. He was responsible for protecting them all, and now he had to figure out a way to save his village.

This was too much, he need help more help than this.

Laya was sitting down. She could tell what was happening just by the air in the room. They wanted to fight back. Considering they were all women in her... It wasn't going to be fun.

"I was an archer for the Ighten Military," Laya told Kratos.

Kratos looked up at Laya. That was something...

"Good. Now we just need a plan---"

"You no attack Warlord!" his mother cried.

"Mother!" he yelled back, causing Neko to stir. But his mother shook her head and told him to shush.

"We talk later. Now you rest, you journeyed long." she was persistent to not hear of them going into battle. She didn't want to risk losing another man in her family. She couldn't bare it...

Laya looked at Telanis for a moment and then went over to him. She stood in front of him, looking up at him for a moment. She didn't know she had a hand print on her face, she just still felt the light sting. "Something wrong?" He seemed very quiet... "Want ot go somewhere and talk?"

Telanis looked up too quickly, registering the mark on her face. "No, that's not necessary, he said modestly, giving her a small smile. "Are you alright?" He had stayed inside while the others had gone to Adonis, because Adonis had ordered him to. "It seems that this village is having its own share of problems," he said regretfully.

"Hmm... Oh, I'm fine, just had a slight disaggreement of who the... horse was going to stay with..." she said softly. She shook her head, he was cute... But, she couldn't think like that because she couldn't be with him like that... He was something beyond her reach...

"Want to get some rest?" she asked softly, looking around for a room a couch that she or he could sleep on, whichever one he perferred.

Telanis nodded and at the direction of Neko's mother, quietly followed Laya out to a porchlike room with woven straw floors that was separated from the outside by paper screens framed in dark cedar. In a closet at the end of the room were two futons that could be rolled onto the floor and a small collection of pillows. The only ornamentation in the simple, but pretty room was a lotus plant sitting on a table at the far wall and a calligraphy scroll that was framed on the wall above it. Telanis walked slowly around the perimeter of the room, studying it curiously. He had been inside very few houses, but even they had been quite unlike this one. Even as he explored, though, it was clear from his movement that he was concerned. He felt anxious about what Kratos had said earlier; were they going to lead a battle here? It didn't help that they were in a densely populated area, which filled him with the shadow-thoughts of others' emotions, mostly too vague or far away to feel clearly, but in their numbers they were enough to make a dull chorus of white noise and confusion in his head. "There are many people here," he said to Laya ambiguously. "The current ruler seems to create more suffering than peace." He stopped in front of the lotus and studied its strange blossom thoughtfully. "What do you feel should be done?" he asked her.

Laya looked at Telanis thoughtfully for a moment as she rolled out on of the futons to make a comfortable place to sit for the moment. "I don't know what should be done," Laya said softly.

She really didn't. So many people were suffering... being murdered. She knew it was against Telanis's ways to fight...

"If they fight they will probably die," Laya said sadly. "If they attack the way most rebelions start they will create small fights. They will torch houses of generals, maybe... forts... The retaliation will be the arrest of some of the people... Men, what's left of them. Sometimes when that happens the women stop working, which creates a conflict for the intruders. They will force the women to work, by threatening the children. When the soldiers have had enough... They will punish everyone. Rebelions are easily crushed. It happens..."

She looked up at Telanis. "These people don't seem to be weak. They need fighting skills, battle strategy... in the end, it might do more harm than good. The only thing that would be worth trying, in my opinion, is escape."

She stood up and came to stand beside Telanis, looking at the plant.

"However, Kratos won't go for that. He seems the type to run head long into battle with out thinking... If driven to those extremes," she reached out and grabbed his hand to reassure him.
