Lore: Behind Stone Walls
Laya moved in, still holding Telanis's hand. She wasn't sure if it was to comfort him or to comfort herself. She felt safe with him, she had since the moment she had seen him in the forest.
She looked at the flags every where and the people in the village. They didn't look so happy. She saw one old man on the ground, a soldier towering over him. He held a club in his hand and raised it to bring it down on the old man. He did once.
Laya closed her eyes and clenched Telanis's hand tighter. She couldn't run over there and save that man... It would bring to much attention to them... She didn't want to bring them into something... They needed to find their parents.
She heard the old man cry out as the club hit him again. She took a ragged breath. Damn her, she was a too good of a person.
Laya let go of Telanis's hand and ran up to the soldier. Laya looked like a fragile woman, a weak woman... No one had seen the warrior side to her, the woman she used to be...
She grabbed the club, letting it smack into her hand so hard it felt like it broke all her fingers.
"I think he has had enough," she said, looking up at the soldier with strong grey eyes.

The soldier glared at her and raised one single hand to strike her before he heard a call from a conch. Spitting at Laya's feet, the soldier turned from her and went back to the fort that was newly built to end his patroling shift.
"Laya!" Kratos called out, "Please don't do that again.....as much as it was right..." Kratos gritted his teeth. What was the right thng to do in the village now? All the laws were probably twisted and cruel. "We need to find mom and dad, get some answers." He stalked off eastward in the direction he knew his parents house lived. He hoped they were still there. Prayed.

Laya shifted back, eyes wide. She surely thought the man was going to strike her. A sound fillled the air and his priorities quickly changed. He spit on the ground before her. She held her breath, though, until the man was inside the fort. Then she exhaled and felt her head spin with relief.
"Oh good lady. Kind lady! Merciful lady!" the old man said thousands of times as she bent to help him up. He stood and put his hands on his rear and bowed over and over as he backed away. "Thank you, good lady, kind lady, merciful lady!"
"Uh, your welcome..." She bowed back and he grinned, then wobbled off.
She turned and went back towards the group. "I don't like what's going on here... I'll try to keep to myself, but I can't make any promises," she said looking back at where she had helped the old man, still feeling the sting in her hands. She looked down and saw a red mark with a light blue color forming in the middle. She closed her hand and held it at her sides, looking as if nothing had happened.

Telanis began to follow Laya, then hesitated tensely. The violence that occurred next brought a sorrowful frown to his face. He stepped close to her when she returned, as if to protect her from anything else that might strike her. "We had best seek out your family, as soon as possible," he said to Neko and Kratos, unobtrusively slipping his hand around Laya's very lightly. He wasn't sure why he did it; he had gotten used to it, he guessed, just recently. The touch of his skin soothed her wounded palm slowly like a healing salve, though it did not have the same dramatic effect that his horn's touch did. It happened automatically, and he was not aware that she was wounded at all.

Laya looked at Telanis's hand that had just took hers. She smiled softly and glanced at his face, then tightened her grip on his hand lightly in appriciation.
She felt her hand relax, and the string to slowly stop. She didn't think he was healing her. She just figured she was getting used to the pain. She hadn't held hands with someone in a long time and there was some strange comfort and protected feeling by it, as if they were joined and no one could pull her away.

They walked down the streets, both Kratos and Neko grimmed faced as they looked at the changes. Soldiers were bulling people, getting their way when they would've normally been brought to justice. Over and over in their minds, both Neko and Kraots wondered how this could've happened?
Neko was no longer somber from the loss of a friend, now she was angry and determind. The group walked down the road, following the path in the siblings mind of where they had once lived. Finally they came upon the cottage, it didn't look to have changed.
Neko was the first to run in calling out, "Mother! Father!"
"N-Neko!?" called back an old woman's voice. A woman emerged from the kitchen. She had white hair and her once beautiful face was marred with wrinkles. She had to be within her 50s.
"Mama!" Neko embraced her mother. She knew her despite the changes. "Mama? Where's Daddy?" The old woman's blue eyes clouded over and showed dull with sorrow.
"Sweetie... your father is dead..."

Laya decided that it was probably best if they stayed outside while the family was reunited. She held Telanis's hand still, tugging on him to get him to stay with her. "We should let them have a moment alone, thay haven't seen eachother in a long time..."
So the siblings disappeared into the house and Laya turned her head to look at Adonis. "How are you doing?" she asked him softly.

Adonis made a small, agitated toss of his head, as a normal horse would if a child were sticking straw up its nose or something similar. He did not speak to her, Looking through her as if the previous night had never happened.
Telanis looked at where Neko and Kratos had gone attentively. He could feel a bittersweet mixture of emotions flowing from their direction, though his hearing was not strong enough to pick up exactly what was said after their voices dropped. He knew Adonis must have been observing the same thing, but if his brother's interest was directed toward the reunion, his posture didn't indicate it.

Laya tilted her head at Adonis, wondering why he was so rude to her at the moment. What crawled up his ass? Maybe he just had been pretending to like her to get her to shut up back when they were alone? She sighed, there wasn't anything she could do about it. If he didn't like her, she couldn't force him to.

Adonis turned his head skeptically toward a village child who ran up to him, admiring him with wide black eyes. "Uma!" he cried out in excitement, speaking the Ongorethian tongue. "Kuroi Uma....Kuro!" he declared, hugging the unicorn's front leg. Adonis held stock still, his ears flattening against his head while he waited for the child to detach himself. "Kuro!" the boy repeated, trying to reach Adonis's neck to pet him. Adonis, for his part, looked about ready to bite him.

"KURO!" the child beamed, stroking Adonis's slender neck with his tiny hands. "Yoshi yoshI! Kiree na kurochan!"
~What is he talking about,~ Adonis seethed quietly, hoping the kid wouldn't figure out where the voice was coming from. He had a feeling the boy wouldn't understand his words anyway. The adoring affection of the child flowed at him while the child threw his hands happily into his silken mane and pulled at it clumsily. Adonis shifted his weight disapprovingly.

"Ahh..." Laya said softly and smiled at the child, grabbing his hand lightly. She shook her head with a smile and then made the child pet the mane lightly with his finger tips, nodding gently that it was alright to pet, but not to pull.
She smiled and looked over at Telanis, he was the only one who ever saw her smile like that.

Telanis was almost too absorbed in the wave of sorrow that just hit him from inside to notice what was going on with Adonis. His brother's irritation penetrated his thoughts and brought his attention that way. He was suprised that his brother had opened his mind enough to let him sense the feeling, and suspected it could only mean Adonis was seeking his assistance in the situation. Not equipped with the kind of sense of humor that could see how amusing this scene was, he approached Laya with concern and touched the child's head gently, lifting his hand away from Adonis's neck. The boy frowned as if to cry, but Telanis's soothing aura stopped him, and instead he just threw his arms around Laya's neck and stared at Adonis with big, slightly pouty eyes.

Laya's eyes widened when the child through his arms around her neck as if to get away from the horse. She glanced from Telanis to Adonis, knowing that Adonis had to have something to do with it.
Laya narrowed her eyes, wondering what could possibly be wrong with letting a child pet a horse, even if was a unicorn. He was child.
"Its okay, the mean horse doesn't like me either," Laya said and turned away from the two unicorns to walk the child over towards a pair of beautiful steeds that looked almost like war horses.
