Adonis felt Laya's relief wash into his own, though he wouldn't show it. She certainly did seem to think she cared about Telanis, but that wasn't enough to make Adonis trust her. Not even close. Humans could 'love' something one day, and discard it the next. But at least she'd been able to help him contact Telanis. For that, at least, he could tolerate her arms against his neck, at least until shore.
As long as he could get to shore... his back and legs burned like torches. At least the rain had lightened to a dull shower, and the waves weren't quite so violent. But he'd wasted a lot of energy fighting them early. He could see the shore now, just a half mile to go. It looked so close, but he knew it would take another hour to swim there.

"Adonis..." Laya said softly. "I could swim on my own to give you a break if you would like me to..." She didn't know how far she could make it in her weakened state, but at least she could try to help the unicorn, she could feel him huffing and puffing more than he had been.
Her body was probably become a real strain for him to carry in the water.

Adonis doubted her ability to swim after the spell he'd placed on her. Her strength should be slowly returning to her, but if anything happened, he couldn't afford the energy to transform again. ~Don't be foolish. Just hold on, we're almost there,~ he snipped at her breathlessly. He'd gone this far alraedy; he was going to see it to the end.

Laya sighed and rested her head back against him. The water was covering much of her body, which had become like a spunge. A cold ocean beeze blew. Laya shivered slightly. She tried not to be too forward be snuggling down against Adonis's burning hot body... but she was cold.
She coughed slightly, still having a little water down in her lungs.

Adonis wanted to tell her that Telanis would see to her as soon as they found a way to meet up, but that might cause her to ask him why he couldn't do it himself. So far, she hadn't seemed to notice that his horn was missing. He didn't want to draw too much attention to it. He just tried to swim faster, but he just grew tired faster and sunk so low in the water that Laya's head almost dipped under. He went back to his former pace, watching the shore creep closer until it was just a few hundred yards away.
Finally, finally, he could see the sea bottom below him. He towed Laya until it was shallow enough to stand, and the sandy sea floor touched his hooves. ~We're here,~ he told her weakly.

Telanis climbed off the raft happily to walk on the sandy beach. "I hope so too," he said, touching the sand with his paddle-weary arms.

Laya lifted her head weakly and looked around at the dark island. "Uh..." she groaned and laid her head back down wearily. She hissed slightly as the air hit the salt and sand filled burns that were on her legs and arms and one on the side of her head, close to her ear. Not to mention the scrapes when the beam nocked her to the wooden deck.
"What are you going to do about clothes?"

"They're alive," Telanis said with a smile, flopping into the sand and rolling in it playfully. It looked strange for a human to do it, and didn't feel quite as good as when he was a horse, but it still felt good. He'd been in high spirits ever since he'd heard from Laya and Adonis, and had almost forgotton to tell Kratos and Neko until now. They'd been together...and they were both happy. Whatever had happened, he was almost grateful the ship had been destroyed. He just had to keep from thinking about the rest of the crew.
"This looks like the beach in Lowight," he said, having never seen another beach before. Were they all alike?

Neko smiled at Telanis. If Telanis knew they were alive, then they must be. Kratos finally turned around to look at their surroundings.
"No," he said, scanning the area. "The Lowlight Shores are built on, these aren't. I'm not sure where we are... But I'd rather not move until daylight." He was so tired he didn't have the energy to stand.
"We'll wait until morning then..." Neko finalized. It probably wasn't good to move anyway. "How are you feeling Telanis?"

~Why do you humans always get so obsessed about c-.....clothes,~ Adonis hissed dizzily, walking slowly up toward the beach. He got as far as the water's edge, and his legs refused to move. He collapsed down onto his stomach, the water still lapping over his tail and hindquarters, unable to go any further. He lay still, shaking slightly as he tried to catch his breath. He'd meant to at least get her up onto the sand, but this was the best he could do for her at the moment.

Laya fell off his back, rolling onto the sand while a giant wave hit them rolling over them. Laya coughed and sat up, putting her hands on his side. "Change back and I'll help you onto the shore," she said softly to him, feeling sorry. He was weak because of her...
Even though he had wanted to kill her, she just couldn't leave him. She wanted to help him. There was a reason why he wanted to kill humans. She would show him that not all humans were bad.

"Somewhat," Telanis admitted, stretching out on the sand. "But it is hard to think of sleeping...I've never been outside of the forest." He rested on his elbows and looked out over the dry looking island. It had a few sandy plants, lots of rocks and a good number of palm trees, but not much else. Very different from what he was used to. It made him want to explore. "Where are we?" he asked her.

Adonis shook his head. ~I don't have the energy to change,~ he admitted, figuring it could serve no point to hide weakness from her now. Seeing that she was determined to get him out of the water, he forced his front legs under him and dragged himself upright, walking with her up onto the beach to where some trees lined the sand. There he collapsed again, a light foam building on his coat now that the water could not wash it off. He was just overheated...he would recover soon, he hoped. ~Well? Weren't you going to never see me again?~ he strained, not even sure why he was asking.
