Lore: Destroy all that Binds

The Mountain of May'em is one of the largest mountains in Heirot, standing like a shadow over the Ishtassy village. To get to the village you must travel through the Ra'esh Desert and over the mountain.

Mizuki wasn't full enough to watch Soran choke a man out of pure anger like that. Sure, these people had done horrible things to him, things that deserved to get them killed... but, if freedom was that close in his grasp, why not take it?

"SORAN!" Mizuki cried out to make him stop, losing and forgetting her watch on Reya and everything else around her.

Soran glared down at the back of the man he was strangling, holding him unmercifully, choking him, killing him. His head throbbed. He wanted nothing more than to return all the agony that had been inflicted on him.

"Soran!" Mizuki's voice cried to him.

He should stop. He should stop. He should stop. Mizuki was watching. Rai...they were all watching. Was he a monster? He felt nauseous, adrenaline running out of his muscles. He took a deep breath and released Jhaptal roughly to the ground.

With a cold frown, he turned to Reya. "Heal him yourself. If you still know how to use that power of yours for something other than pain."

Reya sensed the bitterness in his voice. It was the first time she'd really believed what Mizuki said. She had hurt him; her betrayal had wounded him. She wanted to cry, but she stiffened her features. She would sort this out later. She turned to Maiyn who was staring at Soran in stunned silence from the ground nearby.

"Maiyn. Return these people to Hepian. I will overlook this incident if you return," she said calmly.

Mayn blinked in stunned relief; maybe Reya did value her. "Thank you, Lady Reya," she said shakily, standing up and looked at the four she was to transport. She feared approaching Soran, so she went to where Mizuki, Rai and Siren were. Carefully, she looked over her shoulder at Soran. "Over here," she said with a tremble in her voice.

Soran narrowed his eyes distrustfully at the girl, but walked toward them, not calling off his blades. He left Jhaptal sputtering in his wake without looking back.

Mizuki blinked, not believing that her call had even worked. So, now they were out of here, eh? Though Mayn had helped them earlier, Mizuki still was wary for Reya could've called her to try to kill them at the last minute. But Mizuki lowered the crossbow.

"Try anything, and I will shoot you." Today, Mizuki believed she had lost the weak spine that she had with Luc.

Soran felt unsteady on his legs as he reached where the others were standing. He traded a glance with Siren, who seemed to sense that something was different with him. While they'd been fighting, Siren had put Rai to sleep with a potion, protecting her from Soran's pain.

He turned his gaze to Mizuki with eyes that still showed a hint of anger, but were too guarded to read beyond that. The tense line of his upper lip was more expressive at the moment; so much was going on in his heart that it was all he could do to keep his face controlled while his body suddenly felt like collapsing.

"Stand close," Mayn said, herself huddling closer to Mizuki than the others. She held her hands in front of her and a small, round mirror appeared in front of her chest. Clasping it tightly, she chanted some words, and it began glowing white. The light grew until it surrounded them, and when it faded, they were standing on the path in front of their house in Hepian, as if they'd never left. Mayn took a deep breath, drained from teleporting so many people, but saving up power again. She wanted to port back immediately, and get back to Reya as soon as she could. "There, you're back," she declared rather proudly.

Mizuki let out a breath she only half realized she was holding. She had had her doubts about this kind of travel, but they were back safe and sound.... sort of.

"Thank you, Mayn." she said in a stiff tone but not without gratitude behind it. For someone who was on the enemies side, she had helped them quite a lot. But Mizuki kneeled down to Mayn's eye level and looked her squarely in the eye. "Tell your Misstress that if she bothers us again," Mizuki used the term lightly, but with all the malice she could muster, "I will not hesitated to come kill her myself." it was actually an empty threat, one she hoped would work and never come up again, but it sounded real.

As soon as the others had disappeared, Reya ran to Jhaptal's side and fell to her knees next to him. Heal him, Soran had said, but her magic... she held her hand over Jhaptal. Blue light flickered from it, but it was unsteady, insufficient to complete a spell as important as healing. Medics....she needed to get him to the medic. "Jhaptal, stay awake," she pleaded, not sure if he could hear him. She pulled on his arm and dragged it over her shoulder, trying to drag him to his feet. If they didn't get upstairs quickly... She tried to think only of him and not Soran. He hadn't even looked at her before he left... She wanted Jhaptal to be ok, to comfort her with his stoic rationality.

Jhaptal managed to stumble to his feet with Reya's help, his eyes starting to lose their focus from his loss of blood. He let the sorceress lead him to the medics, blood dripping from his left shoulder, upper left arm, and lower right ribs. The ninja valued his own life only as much as Reya did, and seeing her concern for him made his will to live stronger.

Reya was tired out by the time she'd gotten Jhaptal up the stairs to the ward, feeling naked and incomplete without her magic. Soran's willful energy still burned in her brain amidst the charge Maiyn had channeled through it. The doctors rushed to assist her as soon as she entered the clinic, and hefted Jhaptal's bloody form to a cot. Only a powerful healing spell could stop this much bleeding before it caused death, even for someone as strong as Jhaptal. Fortunately, when it came to magical potential, there was no better place to be than in Reya's school of sorcery. Their medics were among the best in the land, though the truly powerful were all off working in the Arken military compound.

"Do all you can for him. I want him fully healed," Reya ordered with magisterial grace despite her shortness of breath.

The medics looked at one another uncertainly, but bowed to Reya and assured that it would be done. The next twenty minutes were critical ones, with a ring of five clerics focusing their combined energy into absorbing the wounds on Jhaptal's arms and body. Normally even the most skilled soldiers in Shea's army would not receive such treatment; fighters were expendible. Finally, the bleeding was staved off, though Jhaptal was still in critical condition. It would take some time more before his body would be fully functional again. Reya observed from the side of the room calmly, her arms folded as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened. But she was racked by many conflicting emotions at that moment that she could barely sort out, except that the most prominent one was frustration.

The whole time Jhaptal was in a semi conscious state, even as he slowly bled to death while being helped up the stairs towards the clinic. It was a testament to his willpower that he didn't collapse completely onto Reya through the whole thing. Through slowly deadening senses, he could hear Reya demand the medics to heal him. Though his thought process was slowly degenerating, there was still a part of him that was completely grateful to Reya for doing this, especially since he knew well about the importance of even the most skilled fighters in the Arken military.

He could feel the bleeding slowly stop on the two wounds he had, but knew that even with the power the medics had, the wounds would still scar in a darker tissue than his normal skin color. When the bleeding stopped, he openned his eyes and nodded towards Reya, reassuring her that he'd be alright, before closing his eyes again to conserve his energy for healing.
