Heirot

Hey everyone, we have a task that needs some artistic inspiration from our members! Heirot is rebuilding its website in preparation for a targeted advertising campaign to reach out to new people. The site will not only make us look good to new people, but become something we actually want to use, taking the place of the current "about Heirot" section in the forum.

One the main page of the site will be a large graphic of a mystical/majestic/just plain cool gateway or archway of some sort. Could be stone, could be a trellice, could be a doorway with pillars. Anything, and then we will dress it up with lighting effects to function as the "portal" between the site and the forum. I can provide the coloring and photoshop skills to make it as realistic as possible, but what I completely lack is any inspiration as to what the thing should look like. If anyone has ideas or images, please sketch them out and post them here for inspiration! I mean it, I'm really stumped on this one. Inanimate objects are not my thing, so I need major help if you can donate the time!

What else needs to be made besides the "portal" page? Banners? Cool decorative art we can place all over the site?

I know we were all talking about the website that one day, but are we making a new website altogether? I know Rob could help out with site making...

Y'know what I was also thinking... a cool flash advertisment or something to help further get people in. Maybe even a flash movie of the various, active characters. 'Cept we need someone with flash skills. So that might be out the door.

The dragon idea struck most of the people I asked as "too busy" as a backdrop to the logo, BUT:

I think a dragonesque design like you suggested would still be useful on the main page. I'll show you what I mean as soon as I can.

As for other art, YES, come to think of it. Everything on the page needs to be original, not 'borrowed'. It also needs to be as polished as possible; good stuff. People may want to collaborate to draw and color these, and so forth.

Here are some examples of sections that could use some illustration from people:

About Heirot
Lands and territories (detailed illustrations of any of our roleplay zones would be uber neat!)
The Nations of Heirot (images of the queens or the shogun, or the capital cities) (Emora, would you want to do this one?)
How to play
FAQ
Jobs and classes (any old character art could work here, especially of various races, or pictures of weapons)
History of Heirot (historical scenes are TOUGH, but something very generic could also work here.

The trick with all this is that though we want it to be illustrated, we want the graphics to look smooth and integrated, so we do need to put a bit more time and effort into these than we might into our normal sketches.

Any takers? It will all be worth it when we're done.

As for flash, I'd say yes, definitely a possibility. No, probably not going to be part of the first version of this site. In the future, though, I think it's a great idea. We can talk about ideas for it now if you want, even if we don't make it first priority on the list of stuff we need to get running.

And I intend to exploit your web-savvy boyfriend to the fullest extent of my power ^_~ as soon as we have the graphical elements he needs to work with.

I am willing to do the leaders and such... whatever you need me too... Just... is it easy to color with photoshop? Because I think you said you wanted to color them if I drew them? Well, I think it would look better if you did!


I'm working on doing a full body one, I think that would probably look better... and I'll probably do that as ink... so it might be a little easier to color.

Then I'll move on to Sinead and the Shogun

I drew a Mizuki (I really need to draw a different character) picture that could probably be used for the Job/classes page.

I could do like, dragon or design art for the site, but I wanted to wait until I graduate before I really concentrate on this. I want to have my best ideas up and not have to put it off for something else.lol

I need to learn how to photoshop, I started a picture in it but didn't finish it at all. I need to get back on that...

Yeah, Shea is supposed to be this strong, sexy woman, that has a large deminted and evil twist. Thats what I was strying to capture, with the help of looking at a picture its hard to draw anything from the brain when your used to having a model standing in front of you.
