Name: Enios Warbreckt (en EYE os VAR breckt)
Gender: Male
Age: 24 (physical age permanently frozen at 22)
Race: Vampire
Job/Class: Vagrant
Power: All the stealth, strength, and heightened senses that are a vampire's hallmark, as well as some light magic - mostly the healing of superficial wounds on others and the creation of a light that can harm or destroy evil creatures.
Appearance: Enios is tall, so thin as to border on gaunt, and predictably pale. He has a long ash-blond braid easily reaching his waist and a similarly colored goatee. His eyes are pale blue, so much so that they look almost colorless, and slightly wide, giving him a startled appearance. He's fairly plain, but has a kind smile... despite his fangs.
Weaknesses: Using his holy magic causes surface burns on his skin starting with his hands, then migrating up his arms to the rest of his body depending on the duration of the working. Each time he employs it, he loses a bit more control, and it may well destroy him if he uses it too much. He sometimes forgets he's a vampire and doesn't use all the advantages he now has. Also, he can easily be goaded into attacking blindly by calling him a coward, or any variation on that tune.
Biography: The Warbreckt family is ancient, large, and influential, and has historically sought to retain that influence by sending one son to the Church of Thar and one to the army out of every generation. Demas Warbreckt was the soldier son in his generation and thus the responsibility fell on him to produce strong sons to ensure the future of the clan.
His firstborn didn't exactly fit the bill. Enios was possessed of none of the reckless courage that had made his father a legend; in fact, he was a very nervous and high-strung child, wildly phobic of what seemed to be everything. He was a continuous disappointment to his father, but Demas never gave up on him... Until he recognized his other son's potential. Everard was everything the Warbreckts had hoped for, and though four years Enios's junior he was the victor in every fight they ever had - and before very long, they stopped fighting altogether, with Everard's dominance thoroughly established. It was plain which of the boys had been earmarked for which fate, but a frustrated Demas once remarked to his wife that sending Enios to the army might "beat some spine into the sorry little worm." Enios overheard and promptly ran away to the church and had himself initiated on the spot. He was 15 at the time.
Over seven years in the church, he learned to wield light magic and was able to begin to confront many of his fears. He'd almost started to think he might be worth something after all when a supposedly routine exorcism went madly awry and he was attacked by a vampire. Sadly unequipped to deal with such a foe, he went into such a panic that he recalls nothing until the time he woke up with a pounding headache and a terrible thirst in the charred ruins of someone's house. He fled back to his father's house, and Demas grudgingly provided him with sanctuary and the odd expendable servant. Enios was always very careful with his victims, as nothing was more abhorrent to him than taking another's life, but usually the trauma of the experience was enough to ensure that they never found employment again.
This arrangement eventually came to disgust him and he left, wandering about shiftlessly until he was picked up by Kitralia, a vampiress with her own small cadre of undead followers. She began training him in the ways of the vampire, all the advantages and the dangers which came with his status, and somewhere along the line he became infatuated with her, though their relationship never progressed beyond that of mentor to student. He carried the conviction that he had been turned for a purpose and resolved to ask her, but never got around to it. One day she simply disappeared without a trace, and he's been searching for her ever since... Not only as his teacher and his love, but as the only person who may know why he was turned.
Personality: If nothing else, Enios is genuine. He's somewhat socially awkward and doesn't always do the best job of articulating his thoughts, but he's unfailingly earnest and without pretense. His outlook on life is somewhat peculiar - while he continually second-guesses himself and always fears the worst, his faith in other people and capacity for trust are remarkable. The upshot is that he's quite gullible and easily manipulated. As far as physical courage goes, he can probably take on any human now, and that's gone to his head a bit. He tends to overcompensate for his once extremely fearful nature and wax reckless.
He has a hard time reconciling his religion with his current life - he wants to follow the light and to be a good person, but worries that it may be futile since he is now of an intrinsically dark nature. Additionally, his particular order was celibate, and despite his feelings for Kitralia he hasn't quite gotten used to the idea that he's allowed to think about women now. At least, he thinks he is. They make him rather uncomfortable, at any rate, so he tries to adhere to some bizarre form of chivalry that mostly consists of calling everything remotely female "m'lady."
