Going Pagan..

Yea... kinda weird. I'm doing a paper on how the Catholic Church relates to Paganism. So, I started reading one of those Guides to being a Pagan book... and I got hooked. I haven't read enough really to know much more of Paganism, but I got the sudden urge to be one. Not that (hopefully) it would be a problem. lol.
I dunno, I just found it interesting and wanted to see what other people thought about it.

Couldn't imagine being pagan. I like my religion too much.

God keeps me sane, so if I left him I would probably be locked up and have nice padded walls:D

Hehe, that's probably many people. I've just always felt detached from 'God', felt that I should be "in" something else... maybe this Pagan things is what I'm looking for..?

I don't know. I know I used to feel detatched. Feel like I was meant to be someone else. Some place else. Maybe another time, etc. I had always considered myself a christian, but then suddenly I realized that I wasn't. Now that I reallyam a christian I don't feel detatched, or meant to be someone else. I'm finally happy to be who I am. Every now and then I start feeling the old way, but its usually because I've been straying off my path. Its sort of a reminder to get back on.
I'm not saying that you should become a christian because it made me feel whole again. I'm just saying that's what worked for me.

lol, already a christian. =P -shrugs- But even then what the Catholic Church teachings are... I just can't come to comfortable terms with it. I guess it's all about self..uh...self..acctualization??

Maybe that's it, maybe its the Catholic teachings. There isn't anything wrong with it... I have lots of Catholic friends. I'm Baptist. Maybe switching forms of religions, like going from Catholic to Baptist or Catholic to Methodist. I guess its like when you go to school. Some teachers teach subjects a certain way. Depending on how they teach it decides whether you can understand it and enjoy it or not.

I disagree with magic and rituals and all that. I'm a Christian, and like Emora, I also felt astray from God. I went to church, but I felt like I didn't belong. Then, when I was at my worst. I was suicidal, I cut myself, and I was probably one of the meanest, most horrible people you would have ever met... I realized how alone I was. How much I needed someone of a higher power than I and any other human being to protect me and pull me through my dark times. God helped me, and I have tried to be as faithful to him as possible. I don't do a single thing, say one word, without thinking of Him. Sure, I cuss sometimes and say some perverted things, but I know that He forgives me, and I know that no matter I horrible I may be, He will always love me.

-shrugs- I love the odd Idea's that pop in my head when doing something interesting. It'll probably pass though once my paper's finished and handed in. I've never been a one religion kinda person. I be oh so very open minded with religion that I have mixed beliefs. =P

I actually took a seminar on paganism and such in college a few years back =) That's about when i came to the same sort of conclusion and pretty much gave up on Christianity and such. The things it tries to say seem so wrong to me, and well, I was Presbyterian, can't get much more laid back and take-it-as-you-will than that. I didn't go full out Pagan, but it's what helped me redefine what I believed in.
A lot of it isn't the sterotypical witchcraft and stuff really, but having a deep connection with the world and nature and appreciation for all those things that are intrinsically mysterious or greater powers. I tried it out for a while and, although I don't worship mother earth and father sky, I think exploring that religion has given me a much more realistic perception of life and Earth, definately valuable to study even if you don't decide to practice it.
I was similarly intrigued by the adoption of pagan practices into so many christian themes (it was origionally and attempt to quash the pagan movement by changing the meanings of things). Christmas trees, easter bunnies, it's in all of the major holidays, and it's really fascinating!
If you ever need someone to chat about stuff like that with feel free to IM me =)

Yea, I'm sorta about to study it, but I already know all of that stuff. It looked very interesting to me and I wanted to experience it a litte...But I am NOT about to read the seriously long book I have among the other books I have to read for my paper. x.x I'll probably end up just skimming then maybe go back to it. I deffinatly want to read about it, but I'm just too darn lazy right now. School ends in the next like, 4 weeks so I really just wanna chillax.
But.. I am forcing myself to read a book on the analysis on Jesus' life. It said it was uncovering all that we can about the real Jesus and stuff. heh, sounded neat.

There is a book about the real life of Jesus. It is true to the core...every single word is the trunth, & many people have died for it, yet they didn't (& do ont) regret it... It's called the "Bible."
