Heirot

The day dragged on slowly. Starlight still kept trotting with no touble. Even though she was carrying three people. She was, indeed, a strong horse. Layla had fallen asleep, so Jayden could finally talk to Yuuna without any interuptions.

"What will we do here?" Jayden asked brushing away hair from her face. It was now mostly quiet except for Starlight's hooves on the ground and the occasional whispers of the two girls. They didn't want to wake Layla up.

Yuuna snickered. "We need to gather herbs, and I hear there is a formal gathering somewhere around here. I've been to festivals and stuff around here, but they usually go no where near the Forest." Yuuna whispered back, "By the way," Yuuna said, "How old are you Jayden?"

"How old are you Jayden?" Yuuna asked.

"I'm 19. Layla is 13, even though she acts younger sometimes." She smiled as she said this. Layla stirred in her sleep a little bit and settled back down. The forest was so peaceful, and Jayden wished they could have lived somewhere like here instead of Hepian. Hepian was so noisy and full of bad people. The kind of people who killed her parents. She pushed the thought to the back of her head and spoke again "How old are you[/b?"

Yuuna smiled at her curiousity. "Not that you will believe me, but I'm 116 and still young." Yuuna liked the forest as well, but she knew that the Forest could be a dangerous place. "There should be a small hotsprings here, we can camp near there tonight, the herbs I need are in close proximity anyway."

Jayden smiled. "116? And still young? That's almost hard to believe. The only reason I DO believe you is because you're a nice person." She shook Layla lightly. "Wake up, Lay." Wake up. We're about to set up camp"

Starlight stopped and layed down. Yuuna slid off the her and said, "I'm half elf." Yuuna pulled a couple of treats out of her pocket and gave them to Starlight. She munched on them happily.

Yuuna found an area of the ground that was dry with no vegetation, dead or otherwise. She turned to Layla, "Go gather up a bunch of rocks please and Jayden, can you gather dry wood, moss and pine needles?" Yuuna turned back to the ground and started to clear it again.

Layla yawned and stretched her arms. "You're half-elf?" Neither one of the sisters had noticed her half-pointed ears. Her hair had always hidden them. "Oh, rocks. Yeah, okay." She yawned again and went to gather rocks.

Jayden went in a different direction than Layla to gather wood. She found exactly what she needed when she heard Layla's high-pitched scream. She dropped everything and ran in the direction she heard her her.

Yuuna's ears pricked up when she heard a scream. She started in the direction of it, Starlight joined her. Yuuna hoped the young girl was alright. She also grabbed an arrow out of her quiver and the bow off her back.

"Owww...." Layla moaned. She looked up at the hole she had just fallen through. She looked around at her surroundings. She was in a large, dark room about 10 feet below the ground. "Ah, no. This is bad. I'll never get out of here."

Jayden was running as fast as she could. She couldn't lose Layla. She was all she had left. "Layla! Layla! Where are you!?"

"Down here," Layla moaned. She had hurt her ankle when she fell. "Jayden, I think I twisted my ankle."

Yuuna wasn't far behind Jayden. Yuuna fell to her knees when they reached the hole. Yuuna shouted down to Layla, "Can you stand?" She shouted. Yuuna had heard everything that Layla had said because of her elf-like hearing.

Yuuna put away her arrow when she heard the part about the ankle. She placed her bow on her back as well. Starlight began to walk around the hole as well snorting at Layla.

Layla heard Startlight above her as she tried to stand. "I can a little bit, but it hurts." She sat back down and teared up. "Am I ever going to get out of here?"

"Yes, Layla. Don't be scared. We'll get you out. And we'll take care of your ankle. I'm just thankful you weren't attacked instead."

"Don't say that to soon, Jayden!" Just then, a big, dog-like creature emerged from the shadows of the underground room.

Yuuna heard this and jumped down the hole. She landed with a good thud, "Jayden!" She shouted as she took out the bow and arrow in a flash, "Stay there we'll need you up there with Starlight!" Yuuna said and aimed her weapon at the dog.

The dog was all black with gold eyes. It stood a few inches over three feet showing it's long, sharp teeth. It saw Yuuna holding a bow and decided to go for her first.

Layla sat crying. She didn't want Yuuna to get hurt. She picked up some dirt and threw it into the dog's eyes. "Leave her alone!" She yelled at it.

The dog whimpered as it tried to get the dirt out of its eyes.

Yuuna was surprised at Layla's actions. She let the arrow go, aiming at it's legs, just to wound it.

Yuuna glanced back and saw there was a small cut on Layla's ankle and a few bruises. She bit her lip a little as she looked back at the dog, she had to touch Layla's ankle to be sure how to treat her.

The dog whined over its hurt leg as kneeled down in the dirt.

Layla winced when Yuuna touched her ankle. "Ow, it hurts." She wrapped her arms around Yuuna's shoulders. "Thank you, Yuuna."

Jayden heard what was going on below her. She gently pet Starlight and watched them. "Hey, Yuuna! Is she all right? We're not going to have to cut it off, are we?" She smiled when she said the last sentence.
