Eslin:
Xheira hesitated before opening the door. She put on her gloves and pulled the hood of her cloak down as far as she could and still be able to see. She reached for the handle and turned it. The door creaked as it opened into the dusty street. She stepped out and started on her way to where she was suppose to meet with Rowe. The key to walking in the streets alone was to do your best to look like a male. She hopped no one would get a good look under her cloak. She took bold steppes down the street. The abandoned house where Rowe had told her to go to wasn’t that far.
Emora:
Rowe, bowed his head to some people passing by. He had his cloak on with the hood up and the veil covering his face. He walked the small streets of the Raith clan village, glancing about him. Everyday he would see the same thing. Women being persictuted and enslaved. There were little girls play with each other, the boys sneering at them and throwing dirt, calling them names. It was such an unhappy life. It made him want to take the little girls and hug them, telling them they were not the names that the boys called them and that they were special. But, alas he was already in trouble for some of the things he had done like that.
He had to grit his teeth and walk away. He didn't have much time anyway. He needed to find Xheira. Especially before she left the house... if she hadn't already. She had a habit of trying to pretend to be a man... One day she would get caught.
Eslin:
Xheira stopped in her tracks. Coming up down the street was a large ban of males, about 10. They were checking everyone, looking under cloaks and branching off into the ally ways. Darn, she thought, they have already started searching for me. Xheria was lucky she knew this street. It was the biggest in the town. She calmly walked into an ally way. Six paces down it there was a ladder that led to the roofs. She climbed it and didn't stop to see if she was being followed. She rushed across the roof and down a ladder on the other side. Things like this were used to help women escape. She hopped they would be used again after all this calmed down. She check to make sure that she was the only one in the ally, and then she walked to the mouth of it. She was directly in front of the abandoned house. All she needed to do now was cross the street.
Emora:
Rowe came out of Xheira's house. Damn... she couldn't wait five minutes for me to get here... she's so impatient sometime.... he thought, looking around. How was he supposed to know where she was going if she never told him! She should have waited!
He went down an alley, thinking of a way he could find her. A signal or something. But, what...
Eslin:
Xheira walked across the street and into the house where Rowe at told her he would meet her. She looked around the house; it was clear that he wasn't there yet, infact it seemed she was the first person to come her in years. She sat down on a old chair in the cornor of the first room. She hopped Rowe got there soon, she never liked to wiat.
Emora:
Rowe stopped. How can I be so absentminded.... he thought, running the opposite direction of where he had been going and heading on the other side of town. He had forgotten all about the place they would meet if she had to leave the house early. As soon as he arrived he looked around, making sure no one was watching and opened the door up, closing and latching it behind him. "Xheira?" he whispered.
Eslin:
The door to the abandoned home opened. Xheira stiffened; it could either be Rowe, or it could be those males that were looking for her. She relaxed a bit when she heard Rowe whisper "Xheira?"
She stood up, "I'm here. What took you so long!?"
Emora:
Rowe removed his hood and veil and looked at her, then rolled his eyes. "What took me so long?! I... I .... okay.... I forgot where we were meeting...." he said and folded his arms. "But, you can't blame me... I have a lot on my plate..." He tried to take a pridful stance and then just chuckled.
"I figure the only way we're getting out of here is if you pretend to be mine," he said, taking a seat in an old dusty chair, relaxing.
Eslin:
"I can't blame you?" Xheira exclaimed, "I nearly got snapped up by a band of males, and you telling me your FORGOT that we were meeting!? If you think you've got a lot on your plate, then mine is loaded."
Then was he said hit her. "I figure the only way we're getting out of here is if you pretend to be mine." She shivered, just the thought of even maybe becoming controlled by a Raith made her sick. She thought of everything she knew of Rowe. She knew she could trust him; he wasn't like the others. "Well, if that's the only way, then I guess that's the way I'll get out. Don't you go getting any idea's though," she said through a grin.
Emora:
Rowe grinned and tilted his head. "I'll try to contain myself, my lady..." he said jokingly and stood up. "Its easy to pretend to be under my power...." he said walking towards her and looking down at her. "Just do whatever I say." He winked suggestivly and then turned towards the door. "Coming?" he asked, opening up and pulled his hood and veil back over his head.
His yellow eyes looked at her and then outside. "We should be out of town in a matter of minutes..."
Eslin:
Xheira smiled, "I don't know if I can pretend to be under your power; it all depends on what you ask. I was never good at obeying people." She laughed. Xheira stood up and pulled out a white viel from hre pouch and put it on while pulling her hood down. She walked to where he was standing. "Lead on, my dear, you better hope we're out in a matter of minutes; if not then we're in trouble."
Emora:
Rowe grinned from ear to ear. "Don't worry," he said and looked around. "I won't tell you to do anything degrading...." He winked again and put hand on her back, urging her along through the streets.
A few minutes later they were getting close to the gates out of the village. There were guards posted there. No doubt they would be checking. "Ready yourself."
He walked towards the gate confidently, making sure to put up all his defenses. "Hault," the guard at the gate said, unfolding his broad arms and walking forward. "Pass..." Rowe held up his visa out of the city to let the guard examin it. "Reason for leaving."
"Business... I am off to see the Queen... I need her to examin my skills to see if I am fit to handle our clan when my father dies..." Rowe said, the lie having just come off the top of his hand and off his lips as if it were the purest truth.
"Whose she?" the guard asked, tilting his head, examining the womanly figure that Xheira had, even if it were covered with a cloak. She had far less broad shoulders than a man.... and wasn't quite as tall as Rowe.
Rowe put on a sly, proud grin. "This is my bride, I will be marrying upon my return... At the moment I'm just taking her with me... testing her out you know..." Rowe grew disgusted with himself for speaking of Xheira in such a vile manner.
But, the guard fell for it and laughed, motioning for them to pass. Soon, they were far out and leaving the city.
Eslin:
Xheira tensed as they approached the guards. At worse they would ask to see her."Ready yourself." she heard Rowe say. She tried to look normal hoping she wouldn't rouse the guards suspicions.
"Reason for leaving."
"Business... I am off to see the Queen... I need her to examin my skills to see if I am fit to handle our clan when my father dies..."
The lie sounded so hollow in her ears, but only because she knew it was a lie. She hoped the guard fell from Rowe's charm.
"Whose she?" Oh no she thought. I'm doomed. "This is my bride, I will be marrying upon my return... At the moment I'm just taking her with me... testing her out you know..."
Xheira's shoulder's slumped, but it wasn't because she was trying to act like a captured female. She hated this place, a person shouldn't have to undergo such dergrasion just because they were born female. She hated that she couldn't stay to help all those females that would be left here. She hoped that someone would start the underground back up once all the commotion had settled.
She sighed once they were out of the city. "Wow," she said to Rowe, "You actually done it. So what's this about 'testing me out, huh?" she grinned, "I hope you just try to 'test' me out," she said whit a stroke for her sword and a wink for Rowe.
Emora:
Rowe laughed in an amused tone. "Wow, if I didn't know you better I would say that was an invatation..." he said with a mocking tone. He folded his arms, arching an eyebrow. "What's that little twig going to do against me?" he asked playfully, but knew quite well what she was capable of. "Damn... its hot... We should have brought a horse or something. I'm surprised they didn't stop us at the gate for not. Idiots. If your going to Arroes and traveling through a desert with out a horse, that's a bit weird."
Eslin:
"What's that little twig going to do against me?" Rowe asked. Xheira didn't say anything; all she did was rasie her eyebrow.
She couldn't help but agree with him. It was hot. "So, hero, how are we gonna cross this desert?" She hoped he had a plan. You could die in the desrt without the right supplies, and there was a chance hunting parties would come looking for her once they deiced she had left the city.
Emora:
Rowe grinned. "Well, if the idea of walking with me sounds so horrible to you I guess you can go alone... I mean.... I'm just a horrible man... you wouldn't want to share your company with me?" he asked, walking in a slow pace. "Walking is good... I'm sure we'll find loads of abandoned homes out here... and I know which direction we're going in."
Eslin:
Xheria walked slowly right along side him."You're not horrible. In fact your quite nice. I was just wondering what your plan was, but...uumm..I'm not so sure we're gonna find a house in the middle of the desert. If that's your plan then I guess it'd work. After all you DID get us out of the city alive." Xheira grinned and looked out at the deser. She really liked this place, but she soon would be leaving it. She felt sad at taht thought She'd never know anything but this kind of life. She was unsure of where her future would take her.....
