Siren took one of Soran's hands by the back, moving itso that his middle finger of touched the oposite arm's bracelet on the slight line where they had been forged. After a second the bracelet popped open and Siren caught it, grinning.
"Easy as that," she said. "The pulse is just different, but just similar enough to react and cause it to release. And it's inconvenient enough that it won't happen by accident."

Soran watched her gratefully as she ran up the steps. Fighting off the recurring sense that something was about to go wrong, he tread up the steps himself and went to the master bedroom, where he found Mizuki sitting in bed. No words came to him as he remembered that she was considering sending off Blade, so he just went to the bed and sat down next to her, placing an arm securely around her and giving her a reassuring stare.

Sensing that Mizuki was inconsolable, Soran's turned his gaze toward where Blade was sleeping quietly. Determination glowed in his narrowed eyes. Outside the window, the moon was about halfway across the pane. When it made its way to the top...
"Try to sleep," he said, brushing a hand across her cheek.. "This will all work out."

Mizuki was actually comforted by his presence, and his body heat was lulling her to sleep.
"Try to sleep," he said, brushing a hand across her cheek.. "This will all work out." Sensing that he planned to leave, Mizuki sleepily wrapped her arms around him. She wanted him to stay...
"I wont let you leave." she said, a dreamy tone in her voice.

Soran tensed for a moment, thinking she knew his plans, but then reinterpreted that she probably just didn't want him to leave her side. At any rate, he still had time to be with her. "I'm here right now," he said quietly. He eased her down onto the pillow and lay on his side next to it, one arm under his head, the other resting in front of his chest.

Soran looked down at the woman in his arms - a concept that still struck him as oddly impossible every time he held her - and thought carefully about how to answer her. "We're going to sleep, and figure it out tomorrow," he said, closing his eyes even though he really couldn't think of sleep at the moment.

Soran lay still beside Mizuki, watching her sleep, and watching the moon drift across the windowpane on the other side of the room. Her soft grip on his hand gradually relaxed him despite himself, and at some point, he actually drifted off, breathing softly into her hair.

Soran woke with a silent start, consciousness hitting him like a bucket of water over the head. He'd dreamt nothing, as always. His eyes flashed immediately to the window. The moon had risen to the corner, and was already slipping beyond it. He slipped his hand from Mizuki's and moved silently to his feet, careful not to disrupt Mizuki's sleep. He gazed down at her for a moment, lifted the blanket up onto her again, and left the room. He went to Siren's room and entered, finding her on the balcony. "I ran a bit late," he said, squatting down beside her. "How are they?"
