Thomas nodded, his many blades and his bow ready in the service of this place. He wouldn't try to escape, nor betray these people. For in his conscience, he believed that it would be the wrong thing to do if he did. And he listened to his conscience a lot. He fell in behind everyone, ready to move when they did.

A few of the Silinde fell in behind Thomas to keep a close eye on him. Carnthir felt that Thomas meant them no trouble but couldn't be to careful.
The elves stalked through the trees. The scent of their evil counterparts lingered in the air. Carnthir raised a hand and the soldiers froze, bows in hand and arrows nocked.
The two witchmen walked just below. The magicians made no sound as the moved forward and seemed to be floating above the ground.

Thomas gripped his dagger as he sensed something in the back of his mind. There were figures already here. But where? He didn't know, but he had a feeling they were close by.

Carnthir observed the dark figures as they passed beneath them. He raised a hand high and the archers pulled back their bowstrings.
Something worried Carnthir. The atmosphere around them seemed heavy and it was unnaturally dark. The moon and stars were covered by a thundering cloud.

Thomas looked up. He thought it strange to have a thunderstorm now, considering the fact he hadn't felt the signs of one in the air or in the animals. This wasn't a natural thunderstorm. He had a feeling that the dark elves had something to do with this.

Carnthir's hand waved and two arrows cut through the air silently. They disintegrated within inches of their targets. The elves stood in awe, and turned to Carnthir for the next move.
Carnthir stayed quiet, a bit confused. He wasn't expecting that at all. The two warlocks kept their pace and moved closer to the city. Not far behind, the dark elves were slowly coming into sight.

Thomas was awed by the fact that the arrows disintegrated short of their targets. Now he definately thought the dark elves had something to do with this. Magic users, perhaps? Thomas wondered how well his weapons would do against magic users. He didn't think he'd do well.

The drow approached slow and cautiously. They remembered what happened to their comrades before them. They scanned the trees with piercing eyes.
Carnthir held his men and allowed the Mori Quessir to pass by. As they did, a shower of arrows rained down on them, but like when they shot the warlocks, the projectiles turned to ash.
A worried expression came over the lead elf's face. There was some sort of shield guarding them. Carnthir stared closely, looking for a weakness, but didn't find one.

Thomas looked frustrated at this. What was wrong? Then he saw it: a flash of light around the entire Mori Quessir. He wondered if anyone else saw it, but he didn't think that they did.
Thomas felt a sudden urge and power through him. He held his hand forward and the shield he saw was gone. What was going on with him now? First the tattoos on his face, and now this?
He whispered, "Could someone tell Carnthir to fire off another volley? I believe it will work this time."

Coia relayed Thomas' message to Carnthir. He didn't think it would work, but he tried it anyway. The Silinde loosed another flight of arrows. They struck there target and some of the dark elves fell to the ground screaming in agony.
Carnthir smiled slightly. He turned back towards the city to find a plume of red smoke going up into the dark sky. Lightning bolted across the sky, shaking the ground violently as it popped.

Distraction, thought Carnthir as he darted off back towards the city with a few of his soldiers. The ones that remained behind, fired another volley of arrows.

Thomas turned and saw smoke rising from the city. "Oh no...The dark elves here were just a distraction!" He turned to the dark elves, and shot off his arrow into them at the same time of the next volley, then disappeared and took off in the direction Carnthir.

Water rained from the heavens as Carnthir and his men approached the burning city. He saw the two dark mages standing before the palace. Their hands waved about and the uttered words that Carnthir couldn't understand. He stringed his bow and fired an arrow at one of them.
"Damn!" Carnthir said in a low voice. The arrow vanished into the air just like the ones from before. He knew there would be no way to kill them until the dark shield was removed. He remembered how Thomas called for another volley of arrows that hit their targets. A thought crossed his mind and he turned back in the direction of his men.
Thomas approached rather quickly, which is who he was going back for. He waved to him to quicken his pace. Carnthir was used to the speed of his kindred, but Thomas didn't lack in speed too much.

Thomas saw Carnthir coming for him. He headed for him and when he reached him he stopped, "Carnthir, is anyone in the city alright?" At that moment he wasn't even concerned for his own well being. Suddenly he heard chanting and noticed that the dark mages were aiming their chants at them. Without thinking, Thomas grabbed Carnthir's wrist and pulled him out of way as flying balls of energy struck the area where they had just been standing.

Carnthir regained his wits and turned back to the mages. Only one of them had fired at them. The other faced the palace and seemed to be concentrating very hard.
Carnthir quickly turned to Thomas, "How did you know those arrows would kill the elves after the first shots failed?" He watched the magicians from the corner of his eye, though they were well hidden now and out of the dark disciples views.
