LORE: Dance on the Shore

The shores of Ighten are beautiful beaches with white sand, palm trees, shacks and houses with people that live along it. It's also an easy way for Arken people to enter Ighten, since it is more or less unguarded. Sometimes wrecked ships wash ashore.

Carnthir smiled, "No.. it's not... I don't know what's going on..."

He rose to his feet and led her inside the house. The walls and ceilings began collapsing. He ducked and dodged the falling debree. He found a small little hole in the side of the wall and took cover. Sheilding Narisa with his body.

Narisa was getting a bit confused by the fact there was an earth quake in a place that shouldn't have earth quakes. Wouldn't there be a title wave if an earth quake was this close to the shore? Would it crash down around them soon.

Narisa looked up at Carnthir for a moment, her bright blue eyes sparkling. As the world fell down around them she held on to him tighter, closed her eyes... and hoped she would live.

The ground finally stopped shaking. Carnthir lifted his head and looked around. He couldn't see anything. They were blocked in by huge pieces of debree.

Carnthir pushed on the wall of fallen pillars but they didn't move. He found a small hole just big enough for him to squeeze through.

"I think we can get through here," he told Narisa. "I'll go first and make sure it is safe."

Narisa nodded and waited for him to do what he needed to do. She brushed the dust off her clothing and out of her hair, feeling a bit shaky.

"Don't tital waves come after earthquakes close to the ocean?" she asked softly. Her red hair looked dull from dust.

"I thought so," he replied. Maybe that was just a tremor from and earthquake farther inland. He made it out of the hole but it didn't look much better from out here. If anything it was worse.

"I think you can come out now," he said, "Just watch your footing."

He climbed over the debree and rubble looking for survivors.

Naris crawled out of the hole and was coming up behind him when she stepped on a cracked bored. It broke from under her and she fell through. She caught herself half way, holding onto the boards with her finger tips.

She glanced down at the basement bellow. Rich people always had to have high ceilings. She tried not to swing her legs, because that just made it harder for her to hold on.

"H-help!"

The quake rattled the thin palm tree that stood galantly on the Shores of Ighten ferosiously. Pearl was outside her home, hidden within the tree, making a charmed necklace from the smallest shell she could find on the shore this morning. She was taken by sudden surprise of the rough quake, and dropped the gift she was making for her mother's upcoming birthday. Pearl immediately took flight and watched in devastation as her home was destroyed by a huge wave spun off by the ocean's fury. Her childhood had been spent there in that synapses of her mother's love and tender care. The place where her brother, Garby, and her carved their names into the protective skin of the fragile tree when they were younger was gone forever, torn up from its roots and washed away...forever.

As the shaking ceased, Pearl began to look around for any remnants that she could hold close.

"Damn it!" he said hearing her cry for help. He turned around and rushed back over the rubble as quickly as possible.

He bent down and offered a hand, "C'mon, give me you're hand."

Searching the grounds for any cherished keepsakes that were not destroyed, Pearl came across the ring her mother once wore. Her father had given it to her mother on their tenth anniversary. He had it made with a spirit incumbered within the stone. The ameythist shown brightly and sparkled in the sun. A tear dropped from Pearl's eye as she placed it on her finger. She knelt down in the sand and sobbed. "It's alright child. You'll be fine," the voice within the stone replied soothingly.

Carnthir pulled her up and sat down next to her. "This is the strangest thing." He looked around at everything. "None of it makes any sense. We've never had an earthquake here."

He stood up and studied the surrounding area. The entire place was leveled. "Mother... Father..." he thought aloud. He grabbed Narisa by the hand. "Come on! We have to find my parents."

Narisa followed him, not sure where he would lead her. She knew he needed to find his parents. That was something that had to be done. So she followed him until he found them. If he would find them...

Carnthir stood on the highest point of the fallen ruble. He peered out across the ruins of his home searching fiercly for any of his kin. He didn't see anyone.

He stood there in the sunlight his golden hair glowing showing off his masculine features.

OC: How queer does that sound? Everything with an elf just seems feminine to me... lol.

The voice from the stone slightly frightened Pearl. She knew there was a spirit in it, for her mother had told her children of the guardian and the mountains of wisdom it gave her. However, Pearl had never expect to hear it herself, for no one except her mother, had ever heard it before.

The tears stopped and her swollen eyes looked around at the ruble that surounded her. There was certainly no hope for her family members to had survived. They were all deep inside the hollowed tree when the earth had shuck.

Pearl grabbed the necklace that hung around her neck and wondered if she could talk to it. "You don't have to talk to me outloud, child, unless you want. I can hear your thoughts, wishes and prayers. That's what I'm here for--to give you wisdom when it is needed, to secure your doubts. You can call me Lililth. I'll be your guardian now."

Pearl felt the first hope of relief. She felt as if a burden had been lifted off her tiny shoulders. Wiping the tears off her red cheeks, she stood and looked towards the ocean. Her hair was tossled and her skirt was torn slightly and dirty from the beach sand. She raised her hand into the air and whispered to her mother,"Good-bye, Momma, and thanks for leaving behind Lililth. I believe I'll be okay now. You taught me well."

Her hand dropped back down to her side, but Pearl remained standing by the sea for a few moments longer.

Carnthir turned quickly to Narisa. It was too late. The floor crumbled underneath his feet and he went straight down into a bottomless pit of oblivion.

"Aaahhh...." he screamed as he fought at the air and darkness as he fell. There was nothing he could do though and soon there was nothing but silence.
