(Lore) Recovering

The shores of Ighten are beautiful beaches with white sand, palm trees, shacks and houses with people that live along it. It's also an easy way for Arken people to enter Ighten, since it is more or less unguarded. Sometimes wrecked ships wash ashore.

Laya looked around and spotted them. She grinned and raised her hand to wave wearily.

"Lets not mention anything about the captain, shall we?" she said and patted Adonis's neck gently.

~And you will not introduce me.~ Adonis returned curtly.

Both Kratos and Neko graoned as they wakened. Their limbs were stiff and they ached terribly from their swim from the swipwreck. Their hair was tangled messes, salt from the sea encrusted their bodies in various places accompainied by sand. Neko felt disgusting but Kratos paid little heed to it, having lived in similar conditions before. It was his sore muscles that was bothering him.

"Arg," he groaned and waved back to Laya idly. "At least, they're okay as well." he said while getting up. It didn't seem like it, but he was very happy that Laya and Adonis were okay, he was tired sore and very tired.

Telanis stood up and trotted the last few steps to meet them as they approached, sensing as they grew close just how injured Laya was. He looked at Adonis suspiciously, wondering if the curse had been lifted. ~Is she...~

~No. She's burnt.~ Adonis replied coldly, speaking only to him.

Telanis arched his head up toward Laya and touched his horn gently to her chest. A soothing warmth filled her body, and the wounds and burns on her skin quickly shrank and disappeared, her skin returning to its proper color. ~I am so glad that you are safe,~ Telanis told her softly, emotion choking his voice.

Adonis looked away dully, glancing at the other two humans. They had no reason to recognize him for what he was, and he meant to keep it that way.

Neither Kratos or Neko questioned the black horse. Frankly, in their state, they didn't care.

"I'm so happy your okay," Neko greeted Laya with a warming smile. Her eyes lowered as she realized Adonis wasn't with her. "Adonis...?"

She smiled at him, a bright smile. She was feeling better already. She leaned down and kissed his forehead. "I'm happy you're safe too! I was so worried!" She slid off of Adonis's back, half expecting her knees to buckle under her.

She turned and patted Adonis's neck. Thank you, she thought to him and smiled. Then she turned around and hugged Telanis's neck tightly.

Laya looked back at Neko and then to the black horse...

"Uh... I lost... him... He tried to keep my head above water. But the storm waves..."

It stung. Neko could see the waves in her mind's eye and... She bit back her tears and Kratos wrapped an arm around her, trying in vain to comfort his sister. Neko desparatly tried to wipe at her eyes but the tears still came. She couldn't even find the words to speak, and she sobbed quietly in her brother's arms. Not knowing that Adonis was really right in front of her...

Kratos looked on at his sister with pained eyes. How could he help her? He sighed heavily, saying a quiet prayer in memorance to Adonis. "I'm glad your safe, Laya." he said finally. His eyes were heavy with regret for not being able to have everyone safe here.

Telanis cradled his head on her back, returning her hug gently. She wasn't cursed...Adonis had helped her. But why was she hiding him now? He held his tongue, not sure what was going on.

Adonis shifted a step back, torn between disgust at Laya's intimate actions toward his brother and stunned confusion at the intensity of emotion that was coming from Neko and Kratos over his death. Why were they so upset? He tossed his tail uncomfortably, instincts compelling him to walk beside them so that his presence might soothe their pain, but he didn't want to acknowledge that they could really be upset over him. He remained in place, looking enough like a horse, though all of his features were a bit too fine and elegant to really belong to such a creature.

Laya smiled and closed her eyes at Telanis's warmth. She could feel that protective happiness flooding back into her and it made her happy.

"Has anyone else come on shore?" she asked softly. She didn't know if it was a good idea to tell them about the captain and how she risked her life to save... Well, Adonis didn't seem to want people to know it was him... So maybe she shouldn't tell Kratos and Neko?

While Neko began sniffing uncontrolably on Kratos' shoulder, Kratos shook his head.

"We've..." he sighed heavily, having no news of Adonis' true whereabouts still shook him, and Neko seemed to just believe he was dead. "We've encountered no one."

Telanis looked at his brother, who still wasn't saying anything, but didn't seem to be leaving either. Adonis noticed his look and shot him one of impatience, turning away and walking towards Kratos and Neko only because they were farther from Telanis. He didn't want to be near these people, but he had no more experience with this setting than his brother did, and he knew it was wisest to stay near the humans in case they at least had an idea of how to get off the island.

~ Now that we've found each other, how should we get to Ongoreth from here?~ Telanis asked.

Kratos took in their surroundings. Now that it was daylight, he could easily take his bearings.

"It looks like we're near the edge of a forest." he said. While Ongoreth had a massive forest, he himself had never been to the edge of one. But he had a suspicous feeling...

"Let's travel inland," he sugested. "We may have better luck doing that then standing here."

~Alright,~ Telanis said, following Kratos as he began leading them into the woods. He watched Adonis in the corner of his vision. The black unicorn fell back just behind them and followed them warily from there.

Telanis really had no idea where they were going, but he looked around as the forest grew dense and lush, feeling a sense of security from the familiar environment, although the trees were quite different from those he was used to. He looked over at Laya thoughtfully, wondering what had taken place between her and Adonis. His brother had saved a human... it gave him hope. But he still felt a cold wall when he tried to touch minds with Adonis, so he let him be.

Laya stayed close by Telanis's side. She walked by his head, glancing around the tropical forest. It was bright, as the sun filtered down through the canopy of trees. It was warmer now, when last night it had been cold. Mainly cold because of the water and the rain and the wind.

She saw a strange creature in the tree and for a moment the sun blinded her from what it was. A monkey. It was rather cute, nawing on a fruit.

Neko fell behind the group, still depressed from the loss of Adnois. She was unaware that she was walking next to the black horse as she held herself and sniffed from time to time.

Kratos bravely kept leading the group from the front through the trees. He had no idea how long it would take to find any town or other people.
