Neko narrowed her eyes at him, but she wouldn't push it.
"Alright then. Just... tell me when there is womething wrong. Don't bottle it up." She patted his shoulder then lead them out of the forest and back onto the shore. Kratos was still sleeping where he was. 'Must've been exhausted,' Neko mused and started to building them a fire with their bundles.

Telanis nodded, somewhat stunned by her kindness. He stared at her curiously as he followed her back to the beach, pondering her words in the back of his mind. When they got there, he watched her building the fire until he remembered the sticks he'd found. He knelt and began setting them around hers, imitating the formation she'd used, though he was putting far more concentration into it than the elusive art of stick-piling really required.
Once they had set up the fire, Neko stood back looking at it. Trying to see now how she could lit it. Kratos stirred on the beach and sat up, dreary eyed.
"Buh--?"
"We're making a fire." Neko told him bluntly.
"Oh." Kratos rubbed his eyes. "How long have I been sleeping?"
"Maybe...20 minutes. You know how we can lit this?"
"Uh, maybe....umm.." Kratos looked around, only finding sand and wood. "We should search... for...the tools..." He said while getting up. He was still sleepy and couldn't function fully.

Telanis watched Kratos's half-asleep antics in vague amusement. Of course they hadn't brought any tools with them. He had seen humans use matches to light fires, but even if they had some, he suspected they'd be too wet to work. Was there another way to start a fire? Personally, he had no need for external heat because his formed on its own within him, but he understood that for humans, it was cold here. "If you wish, I will return to my other form, and you can take warmth from me," he offered with a gentle smile.
Both Neko and Kratos looked at him. It was tempting, but they need to make their own fire. Not just for warmth, but for cooking food as well.
"Thank you, Telanis," Neko said since her brother was slow on the uptake. "It will do for now, but in the morning we need to figure out how to light our on fire." Kratos nodded in agreement. His sleepy daze making him not as responsive as he would be.

Telanis nodded a bit eagerly. He had to admit that he was longing for his real body, so he was very glad at the excuse to change over. Bowing his head, a light surrounded him that left Kratos and Neko painlessly blinded for a moment before he appeared in his true form again. Telanis stretched comfortably, tossing some leftover seawater out of his mane before turning back to them with the closest thing to a smile a horse was capable of, his ears pricked enthusiastically forward. His coat glowed lightly, although the moon was still hidden by the remains of the storm clouds from earlier. Stepping in a small circle, he knelt down and rested comfortably into the sand.
~Come and sleep,~ he invited them, his cheerfulness lighting up his voice relative to how he'd spoken with Neko privately before.

Blinking away the pain from the light, Neko and Kratos inched their way to Telanis. He was beautiful in his true form. As they got closer they felt his warmth and sighed contently. Kratos was the first to lay down next to Telanis without delay. He was quickly asleep now that he was warm. Neko smiled at her brother and knelt down next to Telanis. She patted his mane before laying down.
"Thank you, Telanis." she told him softly. "You're very beautiful."

~Thank you,~ Telanis answered, neither proud nor humble. Having the two humans there with him filled him with a sense of wholeness. He felt like he belonged there, protecting them. His last thoughts were of his brother and Laya as he rested his long neck forward and drifted into half-sleeping daydreams. He didn't need the rest, but it had been some time since he'd been able to feel this at ease.

Laya's eyes blinked open, sand and salt caked over them. She brushed it out of her face weakly as she felt the feeling of a warm body lying next to her.
She could tell that the area was brighter, the sun must be rising. Suddenly she faded into a fit of coughs, from which she struggled to catch her breath.
She sat up and hissed as the sensative burns scrapped across the loose sand. Her skirt had worked its way up in the night to where it was a foot above her knees, barely even modest. She saw the burns on her legs, the red ring around them and the burns on her arm.
She leaned on Adonis's side wearily. Shouldn't se feel better?

Adonis opened his eyes silently as a foreign pain dove back into his mind. Barely stirring, he remembered the girl at his side and what had happened the night before and turned his head to look at her tired form. She looked, if anything, worse than the night before. He eyed the red rash where her burns had become infected. Her color didn't look good otherwise. ~ If you're awake, I should get you back to Telanis, ~ his low voice penetrated her mind. His tone was slightly chilled, but not harsh. He had a voice that couldn't sound unpleasant, even if he were to speak words of cruelty.

Laya nodded softly, her face rubbing against Adonis's side. "Okay," she whispered and pushed herself tiredly to her feet.
Just as she rose to her feet something snatched her and through her to the ground. She was half a sleep and weak, so she didn't react quickly.
The form, which was still blury in her salt water damaged eyes climbed on top of her. He grabbed her hands and forced them under his knees as the image became more clear.
"Now, I pay you back, bitch," he growled, blood seeping from his forehead.

Adonis jerked his head further around in surprise as another psyche appeared beside them. He watched as the man wrestled Laya down. He knew what was going on; he had done it himself, though not with his own body. He had lived this through the mind of his human soulmate. And this girl, he knew, had lived through her end of it.
Rage suddenly burned in his flanks. He climbed rapidly up onto his hooves and spun his hindquarters toward the man. Resting his weight on his front legs, he shot his hind hooves backward full-force into the man's chest, hurling him off of Laya to land on his back in the sand. Bone audibly cracked at the impact. No sooner had he landed than a cold, black hoof pressed firmly down on his chest, holding him to the sand. Adonis glared down at him, breathing tightly through the sympathy pain that scalded his chest.
~ Sick bastard, ~ he seethed. The words sounded unfitting for his pure voice, but real.

The captain had just began to pull her dress skirt over her hips when Adonis kicked him off forcefully. With trembling hands she sat up and pulled her skirt down to a more modest look.
The captain glared up at the horse before he realized that the voice he had heard last night was back again. Was it coming from this beast?
"What..." He looked completely petrefied until he thought of a plan to get the beast off. He reached numbly into his pocket and pulled the knife out then swung it around to try and hit Adonis in the leg to get him off so he could get back to his fun.
"No!" Laya screamed as she saw the object move towards Adonis's leg.

Adonis hadn't expected the man to have a weapon. It took him a moment to realize what was happening, and when he did pull his leg back, it was too late to miss the knife. He grunted as the blade slid across the tendon in his ankle. Angry and wanting to incapacitate the man before his bleeding incapacitated him, he threw his hoof back down on the man's thigh, crushing his femur, and retreated backwards out of range. Closing his eyes to focus, the stone on his head began to glow black, as if absorbing all the light around it, and the old sailor fell still as a curse engulfed him that would leave someone in the man's condition dead within minutes.
~Come,~ he ordered the girl sharply, nudging her back with his nose and gently urging her to her feet. He wanted to be far away from the bleeding, dying man.

"Hold on," she said softly and took the long ribbon from around her waist. She knelt down and wrapped it around the wound to keep it from bleeding more. As she stood she coughed heavily, but cleared her throat and glanced back at the dead captain. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought of what he might have done to her if Adonis hadn't been strong enough to stop him.
"Okay, we can go now..." she said and turned, stepping froward weakly.
