Telanis looked around as they walked through the darkness, not bothered by the lack of light. He could see reasonably well without it. He could feel energy in this forest. It was a different frequency than his own, but there was magic here. He felt it sifting into him, though very weakly, like water through a stack of towels.
Following Neko's example, he looked for a stick and picked it up, examining it. It was different from sticks in his old forest; the bark was thinner, and long dried palm leaves hung off of it. He walked up to one of the palm trees and touched it, only to feel something wriggle under his fingers and walk out onto his hand. Calmly, he held his hand up toward the moonlight and inspected the creature that had climbed onto him. A big, fuzzy creature with 8 legs. Telanis grinned at it admiringly, like a human might do if a gorgeous butterfly had just landed on its hand. He had seen such creatures before, but never one so large. The tarantula scuttered in a small circle and stared at Telanis, not the least agitated by the unicorn. Unicorns had a way with...creatures.
~I'll let you hunt, but first let me show you to somebody,~ he thought gently. Turning to where Neko was gathering sticks, he extended his hand toward her and said "Neko, look," with an admiring smile. The tarantula lifted up its front pair of legs and wobbled them at her.

Telanis tensed as a pulse of fear flooded into him and quickly withdrew his hand, staring at Neko in concern. Apparently she wasn't fond of it. He took a step back from her and set the spider back where he'd found it, looking back at her apologetically, though clearly confused. "I didn't mean to alarm you," he said regretfully, taking a cautious step toward her again.
Neko calmed down as she watched Telanis remove the spider.
"I-it's ok." she said, embarassed but still shaken. "I just...hate spiders." She looked at Telanis she she stood and realized in the back of her mind that it probably wasn't the best thing to say to him, hating spiders. "Well, I don't hate them...I just...fear....them." she tried to ammend it and blush. She loked around her, trying to see if there was more of them as she picked up her bundle of branches and sticks again.

Telanis smiled at her understandingly, reaching out to help her up. He looked around as they continued walking, taking in the unfamiliar area to the fullest. "There are so many things I haven't seen," he told Neko quietly with a trace of longing in his voice. "I've always known the world was a greater place than my forest alone, but it's so different from what I expected." This time he sounded almost sad, the glow of wisdom darkening his eyes.

Telanis turned toward her with a bittersweet smile. "I can survive here, but not forever. My strength can only adapt to foreign energies for so long before it will gradually begin shutting them out. When that happens, I will have to return," he said pleasantly, scratching the back of his head as if he were apologizing for something. He sort of felt like he was apologizing. It meant he wouldn't be able to stay with them forever. And even if he could, he'd learned the dangers of becoming too intimate with humans. His brother was living proof of that. "H..ow do you think we can reach Ongoreth from here?" he asked.
Neko looked at Telanis sympathetically. She now regretted their decision to have taken him with them... but he was in danger...
"H..ow do you think we can reach Ongoreth from here?" he asked.Neko shrugged. She didn't even know where they were now...
"I'm sorry," she said softly. "I thought...this would've been the best course of action. We'll take you home as soon as your done here, I promise."

Telanis shook his head slowly. "Your decision may have been right." He thought of the brief flash of happiness his brother had empathed to him...proud and joyful, like he'd been long before. It had been so long since Telanis felt those things from his brother. "I've always wanted to see the outside. This will all be worth it. Please do not doubt yourself. Besides," he smiled, "I would also like to meet your parents." As he spoke, he bent down while walking to pick up a stick and managed to trip headfirst, somersaulting ungracefully into a sitting position. He blinked and looked up at Neko blankly with leaves stuck in his hair, regaining his bearings.

"I think so," Telanis admitted with a shy smile, rubbing his neck bashfully as he reached for her hand and took it. His body weighed about as much as a dog would as she pulled back onto his feet.
After a moment's silence, Telanis looked off into the trees and asked, "You and Kratos seem to get along quite well," he said, smiling at the thought. "Have you always been together?"

Neko nodded, remembering her brother fondly. "Mom always said I was his shadow, and Kratos couldn't bear to have me as much as 4 feet away from his side." Neko said while picking up sticks andfree branches. "When we reached our teens, it was time to separate though... I was always so bored learning feminine ways."
"Do you have any siblings?" Neko asked without thinking after finishing her reminising.

Telanis couldn't help smiling fondly as Neko spoke of her childhood with Kratos, picturing them together as children. But when she mentioned his own siblings, his expression fell without actually changing. His smile was still there, but it suddenly seemed empty. "Yes," he said, trying not to forget to smile. "Though I do not see him very much."

Telanis blinked at her, his fake smile fading away. He was getting sloppy. He was made to protect humans, not the other way around, but here he suddenly felt like Neko was the one watching over him, and he couldn't bring himself to let her. They'd done too much for his sake already. He was a poor excuse for a unicorn if he couldn't even keep his problems off his face.
But still, he couldn't smile. "...I...nothing is wrong," he protested weakly.
