"You're not Telanis? Who are you?" she asked quietly. She felt herself slipping into the darkness of sleep again, but tried to force herself out of it.

"You can leave me," she told him. "I don't want to be a burden on you. I don't want to hurt you. I'm so tired off all the evil in the world. I'm so tired of seeing people in pain... All I want is peace. You can let go... I'm dying."

~ Someone you tried to save because you thought I was human,~ he answered. He pondered her offer in silence, trying to figure her out. Was she in such great pain that she wished to end her life? That must be it. He wasn't about to give up his goal, but maybe he didn't want to start with this one. Not now, anyway. ~The spell that has been place on you can be removed. It will take a few moments to gather the focus for it,~ he told her quietly, preparing himself. Black magic was difficult to undo, far moreso than it was to cast in the first place.

"Adonis? You're a unicorn.... The unicorn that the townspeople blamed for the murders and the sickness... Why would you do such horrible thing?" she coughed as a wave came and filled her mouth with salt water.

"You cursed me? Why? Why would you be so cruel? I never hurt you... Gods... why must people be so evil. Even gentle unicorns." She was so hurt that a pain hit her in the gut and spread up through her soul. "Leave me alone..." She then rolled off his back and into the water.

Adonis tensed as a pain so familiar it burned his throat flooded through him. That was right. He had become human in order to save his brother, even if it meant becoming the very thing he hated. He thought about telling her that, but suddenly she wasn't there. He spun around to look for her in the water. ~ What are you doing? Are you a fool? ~ he demanded quickly.

She floated down in the water, her eyes closed. You want to kill me... I'm just making it easier for you. she thought defiantly. You help prove that I can't trust anyone... Maybe not even Telanis! All I wanted was to start over... All I want is to trust one person!!! Then she began to run out of air and she was to weak to fight her way up for air.

Adonis tossed his head indignantly, refusing to follow her as she sank.

You want to kill me... I'm just making it easier for you. she thought defiantly. You help prove that I can't trust anyone... Maybe not even Telanis! All I wanted was to start over... All I want is to trust one person!!!

Then the mental link began to falter. That idiot really wasn't coming up. ~Damn it, you're going to drown!~ he thought at her in frustration. When she still didn't come back up, he ducked his head underwater and saw her sinking far below. That idiot, he thought to himself in astonishment. Against his better judgment, he let his magic flow over him once again, returning him to his lean human form, and dove beneath the waves, swimming down after her. He reached her side and drew her up against his nude form, swimming them both quickly toward the surface. His lungs burned for air. Why was he doing this?

In the panic on board, Neko was thrown overboard and into the water. She had trouble staying afloat because her memories surged up from the last time she had been thrown off a ship. Her body froze from fear and she didn't registered that Kratos' arms cam around her.

"I've got you." where did he come from? But it didn't matter, Kratos swam them both to a drifting peice of debris and kept them afloat on it

(OOC: wanted to catch up with what little time I already have)

Telanis tensed as Kratos jumped off the ship. This was a bad time to bring up the fact that he couldn't swim. A moment later, a burst of flame nearby took all choice out of the matter as it became too hot to remain on deck. The unicorn jumped overboard toward where Kratos had gone, and plunged underwater. Now the next problem was getting to the surface. He held his breath this time, at least, but his arms and legs weren't helping him much in the way of rising back toward air. He saw other bodies at the surface all around him, treading water, but he couldn't approach them. He wondered if any of them were Kratos or Neko. ~Kratos? Neko?~ he called out desperately, his silvery mental voice causing several of the other swimmers to clutch at their heads in confusion.

Kratos immediantly responded to Telanis' call, as if he knew exactly where the unicorn was. Leaving Neko adrift on the plank, Kratos dove down into the water to Telanis who was rapidly sinking. Kicking with his feet hard, Kratos managed to grab Telanis' hand and pull him towards the surface.

"Start kicking your feet and hold onto me!" Kratos yelled to Telanis through the rain and pulsing water. He started to swim them back to Neko.

Telanis nodded, overwhelmed with relief as he choked water out of his lungs. He kicked his feet the way he hoped would be helpful, clinging tightly to Kratos. All around them he could feel the panic and agony of men burning and drowning. He had no way to escape their feelings, so he just held silently on to Kratos, nuzzling his head into the human's back.

They reached Neko and she helped them onto the plank, staying near Telanis incase he slipped off.

"Where are the others?" Neko shouted in panic, finally over her sudden fear.

Telanis shook his head in response to her question, hanging onto the board. "I cant sense them. There's too much..." He said quietly, his mind blurred with too many emotions to pick out Laya's, and Adonis's mind was closed to him.

In panic, Neko tried to find them, scanning the chaos area they were in.

"It's no use!" Kratos called. "We can't find them in this mess!"

"Then what are we supposed to do!?" Neko said angrily. They couldn't leave them...

Telanis looked around through the rain. Visibility was awful, but his keen eyes could spot a landform far in the distance. If Adonis had survived, he'd go that way. Laya....unless she was with Adonis, could not have survived, he thought with grim wisdom. "We should go that way. There's an island," Telanis said, pointing toward the landform that they probably couldn't see and almost losing his balance. He quickly grabbed onto the plank again with both arms.

Neko and Kratos followed his pointing fingers but couldn't see anything.

"I see nothing..." Neko said, her hand on Telanis' back to keep him alfoat.

"He saw something..." Kratos said grimly. "Let's make our way to it now before it's too late!"
